Worship the Dead - Jayberry - Jul 05 2018
Something had died.
She could smell it from Tunnel N, and hunger and curiosity drove her to seek it out. The scent was old, whatever it was having died quite a long time ago. But she could still smell blood, coagulated as it was, and so she sought it out.
What she found was, admittedly, rather disappointing. A cave deer, yes, but mostly decomposed. It seemed fairly old, with only a few shreds of meat and hide clinging desperately to discolored bones.

Leaning down, she sniffed at the carcass. Well, no point wasting, right? Besides, her stomach was used to foul things. So, with little care, she found the largest piece of meat she could, and set her teeth into it. It was tough, with no moisture, and she had to tug on it. There was an odd scraping feeling as her teeth dug into the bone, but finally it gave way. She stumbled back, smacking her teeth as she gulped down the meat.
Well, that was disgusting.
Stepping forward, she leaned down to tear off another bite, only to notice something. Where her teeth had scraped the bone, there was a rather stark, white line. Hmm, could she do that again?

Plodding towards the carcass, she leaned down, and attempted to fit her teeth around the bone. Carefully, she closed her jaw, only to yelp and jerk back as, quite suddenly, it practically exploded in her mouth.
The fragile bones, having already been under quite a bit of stress, couldn't quite hold up to the strain she had put on it, and she stepped back, huffing and licking her lips as she tried to get the horrid taste out of her mouth.
