Moon Of The Solstice - Kaheia - Jul 24 2018

Silence and warm darkness surrounded the young foal, tucked away within green tourmaline confines. Sounds slowly over time grew muffled and shimmering, the age of the young one growing to far to be contained for much longer. Slowly soft hooves would press against shimmering chrysalis, her body growing to large for her small haven.

Pressing, squishing, cracking, and finally a shatter.

She would find herself upon the floor gasping, small nares flaring open to inhale the first few breaths of life. Soft keratin limbs would tap across the floor, wobbly joints scrambling to find purchase on the rock surface she had found herself on. Damp buckskin fur would begin to dry slowly in the humid air, the warmth of the area not to different from her cocoon of safety. A shrill whinny would escape the youths muzzle, the noise echoing out across cavern halls. Small ears would flick and listen to the sounds of her surroundings. The roar of water could be heard in the distance with far more clear sounding water droplets resonated through the cavern.

The young foal shook herself heartily, the soft clicks of keratin hooves upon stone ringing out from the movement. Another high pitched whinny would escape the young girls mouth, topaz eyes blinking away the last of the blurring fluid. A few stumbling steps would be taken upon gradually strengthening limbs, a dark wet tail flicking fluid away from her frail body. Shards of tourmaline surround her, the one safe haven for her beginning stages of life now lay in pieces upon the rock floor. A gentle sniff would be given to the now discarded crystals, a mourning for something the foal was not able to comprehend taking over her heart. It was eased somewhat by the similar gem that protruded out from her right shoulder, as if a memento to the thing she once called home.

She would leave it behind her, taking small steps towards the sand that laid out before her. There was no time to be wallowing in sorrow that she did not yet understand when her stomach was growling out for food. Velveteen lips would reach out to nibble upon some of the flora, nose twitching to sniff out anything that instinct deemed unfit to eat.

RE: {AW} Moon Of The Solstice - Nox - Jul 24 2018

Every so often, as the cycles passed, Nox found a craving creeping through her bones, a despair for warmth pulling her from the homely muck and deep waters of cetus. There was nothing holding her down and so, like a shadow, she rose from the bog. She set off on the journey she so-often made, leaving a trail of slick, oily slime in her wake. She padded with purpose the miles of tunnels with a low rumble like a engine brewing in her chest, causing her jelly-like hide to softly quiver.

In time, she'd reached the bubbling hot springs and the warm steam clinging to her hide brought a shudder of pleasure to her skin, vibrations rippling over her hide like a thousand worms. Her rumbles intensified, trembling on the surface of nearby puddles and ponds as her vocalizations took on a tone similar to a cat's purr, slowed down a hundred times until its throbbing was long and distinct, and penetrated deep into one's bones.

Nox's paws carried her on a set path, slime-stained pebbles crunching as she padded towards the water's edge, ready to be received into its warmth, when...

A soft sound broke through her instinctive haze. A shudder of goosebumps passed from nose to tail, and her neck rose up on its tall arch. A droplet of slime came loose from her chin as her jaws parted and she looked around, the sudden awareness that she was not alone bringing sentience gushing back like a flash flood. With warmth creeping into her hide, and steam coiling around her muzzle, Equinox picked out a movement. She pressed towards it, her paws thudding against stone as she left the edge of the ocean behind.

She became quiet as she advanced, the figure growing larger, but not too much larger. It was a newborn- Nox could see the shattered chrysalis beyond it. The slimy creature blew out a column of steam from her nostrils. Her chest convulsed, her skin trembling, and a low gurgle began. It was a low noise, not loud, but curious. Nox parted her jaws and her head descended on its long neck down towards the little horse, looking at her closely with the eye in the back of her throat.

"Speech."

The young creature snapped to attention when something new came creeping out from beyond the sand. A low snort was given to the strange looking thing, black and slimy were only two words to describe it. Topaz eyes flickered to the eye gleaming at the back of the creatures throat to the rest of its face. A subtle tilt of her head was given, showing the mutual curiosity they both apparently shared. A low whinny was given and a small step was taken towards the creature.

The young filly was fascinated by the oil slick colors that radiated off of the creatures body. A soft snort was given towards the creature, ears flicking to catch the sounds it was making. Playful hooves would come up to try and touch the other creature in a small rear. A noise akin to a childish babble escaping velveteen lips. Wobbly limbs however, had failed the young filly and she went tumbling backwards before even getting close to the other creature. The fall was not damaging as she had soft sand to land upon.

The young filly struggled to her feet, low snorts and nickers escaping her muzzle along the way. Small hooves finally found purchase within the soft earth and she managed to stomp her feet, feeling a soft surge through her legs. Unbeknownst to her she had attempted to activate Dislodge, the power directed towards a small rock not 5 feet away from her.

RE: {AW} Moon Of The Solstice - Nox - Jul 24 2018

The young one's snort was responded by a soft rush of warm air, small beads of slime flying from the draconian's nostrils. As the little one reared, limbs flailing threateningly close to touching her, a ripple of texture fled over Equinox's skin, its texture akin for a moment to rows of sharp spikes. A small hiss emerged from her and she flinched back, jaws snapping shut.

"No touch," she offered, sadly, but sternly, her chest undulating around the words. Her jaws once more peeped open once again when the muffled thud of the little one falling reached her. The spiky texture writhed and wriggled and smoothed in concern. Her head followed after the youngster, the dragon stepping forward, her beak stopping just shy of touching her.

A soft rumble of concern emerged.

Nox appeared to relax however, her texture becoming smooth and shiny, as the youngster got back up onto her feet. The dragon's head retreated, hovering just out of reach of any wandering muzzle or hoof. "O... kay?" she gurgled then. She just wanted to make sure.

"Speech."

The young filly watched the others discomfort, not quite understanding the words that came from creatures mouth. A soft nicker came from her muzzle as she stared at the creature, her tail flicking in excitement. Her head tilted to the side, topaz eyes widened in curiosity and having the innocence that only newborns could have. She managed to get the message of no touching the strange creature. The rock that had been the target of her magic had failed to do anything, not that it would have mattered. She still was unaware of the magic she possessed in her veins. The strength of the earth that rolled beneath her hooves.

She managed to bounce around a bit, testing out her legs once more. Despite their youthful size they looked sturdy enough, her draft horse genes showing through. Her fur was drying out, slowly but surely, giving her more bulk than before. She was looking to be a solid draft horse foal, appearing to be nothing but muscle and stone.

She let out a whinny and jumped side to side, letting out little bucks in a playful attitude. She shook her mane, the small tufts of still damp fur looking more like matted seaweed than a flowing trail of ink. She tried to run around the creature a bit but stumbled, catching herself before falling flat on her face. She let out a low snort and turned to trot the other way, learning of where she was to place her feet. More childish gibbering escaped the newborns lips and she began to try and coax the slimy creature to play a game of chase with her.

Her leg muscles needed a workout and this strange creature seemed friendly enough to the naive youngster.

RE: {AW} Moon Of The Solstice - Nox - Jul 24 2018

Nox's stance relaxed as the youngster showed no further signs of wanting to touch her. Another breath steamed around her nostrils, the soft sound they made responded with a throaty grunt. She was beginning to get the impression that the newborn couldn't understand her very well, which suited her. The draconian, after all, found speaking equally a chore.

As the newborn bounced and tested her legs, Nox's gaze followed them, her head pivoting slowly atop its long neck. As the little one stumbled, the draconian flinched, jaws opening a bit wider to make sure everything was okay- but the child quickly recovered, and Nox continued to watch, seemingly fascinated by the other's newness.

As she understood their offer to play, though, the draconian's head raised slightly in surprise, another rumbling sound rising inside her, a scaled pattern weaving its way over her skin. She closed her beak and offered a nod, raising her head back so that it was arched into her chest. She straightened up to her full height- ten feet in all with neck arched back- and parted her jaws again, looking at the young one expectantly for a moment, before twitching her head and neck outwards in a gesture to run.

"Speech."
