First time Explorations. - Arete - Jun 12 2015
What a wondrous place. Deep golden eyes glittered with the utmost curiosity as she sat before the river. The crystal waters were beautiful. Glimmering with the shining lights from above and she could see all the way down to the bottom! It was just beautiful. She had traveled here from a tunnel. A tunnel she had met an interesting canine and a fellow feline. Further down, much much further than where she sat, strange things pressed together and moved. She wasn't sure what they were, but she knew she should probably stay where she was. Too much curiosity could get someone hurt. The wolf had spoken of dangers to be wary of before she had departed the two to begin her journey of knowledge so she wasn't about to go messing with something Arkrael could have been referring. Instead she crouched down on her front paws and dipped down for a soothing drink. The cool liquid felt nice as it slid down her throat and ultimately settled into her belly. It was a satisfying feeling really. Yet, it did not sooth the sensation that made her belly growl. Perhaps she was hungry? That had to be it. Sitting back on her paws she licked the water from her lips and gazed around again. Now. What would be around these beautiful parts for her to fill her tummy with? She wasn't sure, but she would definitely go find it! Her gaze dropped back to the water only to blink when she saw a few sudden strange things swimming along deeper into the water. Now what were those? The word was just on the tip of her tongue, but just as she was about to figure it out a strange noise caught her attention and her golden head swung around to take a look. She saw nothing, heard not another noise, so what had it been? Suddenly a strange sensation enveloped her. The sensation came first from her ribs just above her belly and before she knew a strange light suddenly radiated out from her! She lifted a paw and looked at her glowing paw. "Well this is neat..." She hummed to herself, the previous sound now entirely forgotten as she got up to her paws and made a slow circle to look all over her now glowing self. She was like a giant light! Much like the lights that glittered up along the ceiling of the cave! How grand and interesting! A beacon of light within the darkness. It had a ring to it. She'd have to save that one to her memory banks. "speech" OoC: Woo shitty thrown together table :D RE: First time Explorations. - Makyna - Jun 12 2015 After taking time in Cetus to practice her skills Makyna felt quite proud of herself. A whole day where she'd done nothing but pounce and practice had done wonders. Not to mention she'd found a lovely new flower to adorn her right ear. It sat there now, a perfect blue to match her eyes and the gem in between her eyes. The lioness, a little ways up the river from the tiger cub, sat on the shore looking down at her reflection in the water. She certainly looked different now than when she'd first hatched. Not because of the flower but because of other things. Her body was starting to grow, getting lengthier and leggier. Her shape was becoming decidedly more slender and feminine while her spots were almost completely faded, one would have to stare very hard to notice them now. She was also taller than before, finding it easier to cover ground. She touched the surface of the water with her paw, disturbing her image and a few fish beneath the waves. She got to eat fish a lot, so much so that she grew tired of it sometimes Still, it wouldn't hurt to eat something so the lioness reached a paw forwards and jabbed at the water when a fish swam by in front of her. With her claws she just barely managed to snag the fish and even then she accidentally slung it to the bank. The fish nearly hopped away but she pounced on it and bit it, killing it instantly. Now she had a meal! The lioness was prepared to eat the fish but noticed something further up the bank. She turned to look and saw another feline! How wonderful! This one wasn't like her or Cancer or Amaria as it was striped. It was also glowing but Makyna figured that to be her magic and not a constant thing. Neat! Perhaps she should go and speak to this new feline. It was good to make friends. Makyna leaned down and picked the fish up and trotted up to the new feline. She dropped the fish on the ground and trapped it beneath a paw so that she could speak more easily. "Hey there! That's a really cool power you have there." The lioness complimented as she looked at the glowing creature. She hoped that the tiger would be friendly. words: 396

A soft smile adorned Arete's features as she finally sat back on her haunches, watching as her now glowing fur seemed to just brighten with her sudden good mood. She wasn't quite sure what had caused this new sensation and ability within her, but she wasn't scared of it. In fact, she was so intrigued with it she began to wonder just how bright she could get! However, her attention upon her own glowing was quickly cast aside as a sudden voice drew her attention. Soft amber eyes drifted towards the creature that had spoken and a warm smile slid over her features. "Oh, hello," she hummed gently as she settled her paw back onto the cavern floor before turning herself to fully face this new feline. She was much bigger. Bigger than the Leopard she had only hours ago had met after her emergence. She was gorgeous with her all golden pelt and her blue eyes seemed to seal the deal on that. She vaguely took note of the fish under this lioness' paw as she continued to study this female. "Thank you, I just recently became aware of it.." She hummed again as she looked down at her paws, taking note of the fact the glowing of her body was starting to fade away. So it only lasted for a certain time? She would make note of that later as well. It would definitely be fun in practicing this unique gift she owned. She would have to try it again when the glow fully faded from her fur. Turning her focus off her thoughts and towards the female in front of her, Arete smiled again. She seemed like a friendly lioness that was for sure. After all she did take the time out of her own doings to come say hello. "It's nice to meet you. I am Arete," It was a strange name. One that was still familiar upon her tongue. Ar-ru-tay It was a pleasant sound upon her voice and Arete seemed very proud to adorn such a calling. It was unique in every sense of the word. This made her wonder just how unique this lioness' name may be, so she eagerly waited to see if this feline would introduce herself. "speech" OoC: Woo shitty thrown together table :D RE: First time Explorations. - Makyna - Jun 13 2015 It seemed that this tiger was very friendly. The feline turned to face her and Makyna noticed that she appeared to be much more cub-ish in appearance than she was. Perhaps this one was younger? She almost certain of it. Hmm, if that was the case then was the feline eating properly? Had she learned to hunt and do everything for herself? There was only one way to find that out. She would have to ask the golden feline herself. "Powers just seem to come out of nowhere sometimes but usually they're pleasant surprises." The lioness offered a kind smile. The glowing tiger started to fade and her true coat color was revealed. Makyna had never actually seen a tiger before so she didn't know that the color of the female was different. She just knew that tigers were supposed to have stripes which this one did. Stripes and coat that was as golden as her own. It made them alike but there were differences too. The lioness knew that this tiger would outgrow her when she was older and be twice as stocky than she would ever be. "Arete" The lioness repeated, testing the word on her tongue to make sure she wouldn't forget it. That was an awful unique and pretty name. Fitting for a feline. "It is nice to meet you. My name is Makyna of the Maji Walezi." Well, she was a water guardian and if that was the case then she should probably use her skills to help others if they were in need so she lowered her head and nosed this fish towards the younger cat. "Are you hungry? There are plenty of fish in the river and I don't mind offering this one to you." She lifted her head and grinned. "I can always catch another." words: 303

Arete gave a warm smile when the lioness gave her her name in introduction. Of Maji Walezi? What on Origin was that? A place somewhere in the caves maybe? She guessed it really wasn't that strange if this feline spoke it so easily. However, her thoughts vanished when the fish was suddenly scooted closer. Her ears jumped up instantly as she could feel her stomach rumbling even more. Her glittering orange eyes jumped back up to Makyna's blue ones and all of her wanted to decline the fish. If only for the chance that maybe she too could catch a fish like this bigger feline. The thought was tossed around in her head as so contemplated it. Oh but it would be rude to say no wouldn't it? Arete guessed if it would be no big hassle for this older cat then surely it would be okay for the little tiger cub to accept the offer. "Yes, thank you so much!" She purred happily as she inched closer to the fish, grasped it with her paw that now had extended claws and dragged it much closer to herself. "You are most kind," Again she offered a warm smile to the lioness before she eagerly set to work on feasting upon the fish. It didn't take long for Arete to clean the fish of it's meet, leaving nothing but bones; and of course the head. Just thinking about crunching down on it's head made Arete's stomach flip. Once she was done with her meal Arete scooted the fish carcass to the side of her. She would get rid of it later. For now, she was more curious about this lioness. She focused her gentle gaze upon Makyna again as she sat back on her haunches and curled her long tail around her side. "So," She began as she quickly pondered on how to correctly word her inquiry, "Just what is this...Maji Walezi?" It was still thick on her mind as she tried to figure it out on her own. It didn't feel like it had been a place to explore within these caves, so what could it be? She knew, though she couldn't quite grasp it's understanding on her own, that Makyna would possibly give her an answer. "speech" OoC: Arete. So Proper. buh. RE: First time Explorations. - Makyna - Jun 13 2015 "You're welcome. The fish aren't too hard to catch, once you get the hang of it." The lioness said with a light laugh then she shuffled one paw in the dirt at the female's compliment modestly. "I don't see myself as especially kind. Sharing is just the nice thing to do, especially when fish are in abundance here." She watched as the female went to eat the fish, making short work of the silvery sea animal. The lioness' gaze went back to the water and she gave her tail a quick flick towards the waves. Indicating that that was where she was going and that was where the tiger could follow her if she so wished. At the water's edge her eyes watched the waves, ears flicking back to listen to the tiger's question. "The Maji Walezi are a group in Pisces that I'm a member of. Maji Walezi means 'Water Guardians' and we watch the waterways to make sure everything is flowing correctly so that nothing becomes contaminated." The lioness pondered on what else she should say to Arete. What else was good about the place? "It's like a little family. We try to look out for each other and come up with plans that'll benefit all of the group." She remembered the last argument when they'd come to Polaris and it made her sad but things were carrying on and so long as Leon and Cancer weren't in the same room then everything was fine. Her ears perked forward towards the water as she saw a fish swim by. She could easily hook it with her claws but decided on another tactic. She focused on her magic and tried to grab one of the fish. Easily she wrapped her magic hold around one and pulled it out of the water and into the air in front of her. The fish couldn't move and just was held suspended in the air. She gave it a twist with her magic and snapped its spine, quickly and cleanly killing it before she dropped it on the land with a paw on it. Perfect! Now they both had dinner. words: 357

Arete listened with the utmost curiosity. Eyes focused only on Makyna as she began to explain just what the Maji Walezi was. Water Guardians? How interesting. When Makyna fully turned her focus to the river Arete rose to her paws and padded over silently to the lioness and looked into the water herself. She was eager to watch how this feline hunted her fish, but when something strange seemed to happen instead Arete couldn't help but take a step back to watch the spectacle. Her eyes grew wide as the fish was lifted from the waters by something she just couldn't see. Was it magic? Did Makyna do this? She watched closely as it suddenly twisted, snapping it's back and then simply floated right over to Makyna. It had to be. Makyna had to be using magic that she was gifted with! It was a spectacular watch and it awed Arete completely. "That was amazing..." She awed taking a step forward as if to inspect the motionless fish that was now in front of Makyna on the ground. Would she one day be able to do something like that?! BEfore she realized it her excitement consumed her and an even stranger sensation was starting to slowly spread out through her entire body starting at her the bottom of her ribs. Alas, it simmered out and was ultimately ignored as the tiger cub tried to figure out in her head just how Makyna had done that fabulous trick. "speech" OoC: -- RE: First time Explorations. - Makyna - Jun 13 2015 The lioness leaned down to eat the fish, her ears ducked down shyly and if it weren't for the fur you would be able to see pink skin from all the heat in her cheeks. Fortunately she did have fur to cover the blush and she was able to say a quick, "Thanks but... it's just my magic. Nothing special." She quickly leaned and finished off the fish in a few bites, leaving the bones there. She could do something with them later but for now, they wouldn't bother anyone where they were. She leaned back up with a friendly smile, the blush gone. "All it takes is a little practice. Like... Like singing. You practice a lot and you learn more songs and get better at it." She didn't know if the tiger would understand her analogy to singing but she hoped so. "Perhaps you'll discover some new spells if you keep at it." Ky had found out herself that she had plenty of new spells. She just had to keep working at it and working at it and then she gradually got better. Makyna wondered if she should show Arete some new spells of hers or help her learn her own and master them. She'd helped Leon so why couldn't she help this cat? So, she sucked in a breath and then tried to focus on her magicka to release a bird call but sadly nothing came out. Ah well, better luck next time. "If you'd like I could help you learn more about magic and your spells." words: 260

Arete listened with every bit of her being. This was definitely something to learn about. Magic. And Singing? She had to think for a long while on just what the Lioness meant, but she quickly pushed it aside when she did figure it out and focused more so on the magic aspect of her conversation. The more you practiced, the more you learned new spells? Well! Maybe she should practice now? She could glow, she gathered that much from her previous experience. It had came on it's own whim. She turned her gaze away from Makyna for a small moment, studying her reflection on the river's surface. Just what kind of magic did she possess? Glowing. Light. Was it the aspect of light maybe? What all went with it she wondered. Would it be other things that would glow too? Makyna's voice quickly drew the tiger cubs attention once again and Orange eyes quickly averted back over to her, glittering with curiosity as she listened. "Oh yes! That would be most kind of you!" Arete laughed softly as her grin reached her eyes causing the beautiful orange gems to curve in her smile. Makyna was such a kind lioness! She was so glad she was allowed to come into passing with this feline. "So...do you know much about...my magic? I'm not quite sure what it is honestly...I've only just emerged not but a few hours ago..." She pondered on this again as she lifted a paw up and turned her gaze down to study the white painted paw. "speech" OoC: -- RE: First time Explorations. - Makyna - Jun 13 2015 The lioness smiled, eyes shining with enthusiasm as the tiger sounded so curious to learn. Excellent! Someone she could help teach about magic! Not only that but someone who was very nice too. That was always a plus. The more and more she went through life the more she was learning that some people just weren't very kind. When the question came about her magic the lioness nodded her head. "I know some things about your magic. We have a dolphin in Pisces that has magic like yours. He can make himself glow and dissipate light around him so you can't see him." Eeya was a peculiar beast but he had a lovely voice and though he never actually sang she was sure that he could. Then she thought about the wolf that she knew. The one who had gone blind because of his magic usage. Her smile sobered to a more serious expression. "There's also negative side effects to magic if you're not careful. I met a wolf once who'd gone partially blind from using a glow spell, the same one as yours." She shook her head. "Just make sure to stay focused and keep your head on what you're doing and you should be fine, Arete." That was the best advice she could offer. "I find it helps to take breaths before using magic and relax myself but I don't know if that works for everyone." Her serious expression evaporated as she smiled again. "It might just work for my element, the arcane and my friend's element which is fire." Though she was sure the principal was all the same. words: 272
