Roll the Bones - Giggle - Jun 13 2015 ((ooc -- this was a fortune-telling thread! If anyone in the future wants their fortune told, just make a thread for Giggle and poke me :3)) The hyena grinned, flopping her rump down on the dull red-brown rock. She seemed to be speaking to the bones--the piles upon piles of bones just beneath the dipped-down roof where it nearly reached the floor in Canis's center. This was where she had come to practice her magic some days ago, and now she had returned, pushing the bones here and there with her paw and snout, grinning at them. She pushed a bone again, tilting her head--then snatched one up, and clambered over and up a nearby boulder. Turning, the spotted hyena tossed it with her jaws, carefully, watching as it clattered into the pile--scattering ribs and vertebrae all over. Then, she watched, carefully, picking out shapes and sizes with her dark gaze, intent on the bones. Dropping down from her place on the boulder, no longer grinning, she paced slowly around the bone pile. She drew closer, sniffing down, careful not to touch the ribs that speared upward toward her. And then she moved on, circling, circling... Fire. Those, there--the hoof, and the vertebrae. It snapped into place and she saw flames as clear as if they burned before her. Changes had to be made--destruction, disruption, if the place was to grow. Else it would remain cold and bare as stone and bones. Giggle giggled softly as she prowled, staring down. Still circling. Oh, it meant protection--that she knew. But in what form? Giggle sat, staring down at the bones, pondering quietly the meaning of a stag's branched antlers. A strong offense and defense, intertwined? Readiness for battle? Or something more? Giggle sat, alone, blind to all but the bones before her. Roll the bones. RE: Roll the Bones - Makyna - Jun 13 2015 The lioness walked along, blue flower in ear as she traveled down a road. As usual she was just walking, where she had no idea. Just where her paws lead her. This never really got into trouble so it was alright. As she walked she attempted to mimic a sound she'd heard a bird make once, a tweeting whistle but she wanted to add her own sound to it to make it sound like a distinct song. She opened her mouth and attempted to pulse her tongue and manipulate the air in a way that would recreate the sound. Her aim was to whistle but she felt a surge of magic from within her. The sound that came out of her mouth was exactly like the bird, right down to a T. She had completely mimicked it and she knew that it was due to her magic. Perhaps this was a new spell! To mimic any sound that she wanted! How useful. As the lioness continued walking, whistling bird tunes from her mouth with her music she came upon a room filled with bones. In that room was a strange creature. One she hadn't seen before but knew it was a hyena. The creature was fussing over a pile of bones and antlers. How strange... The lioness walked up to her with a smile before peering down at the bones. "Hello there. What are you up to with all these bones?" Makyna knew that this was Canis, the home of bones and Aza'zel so she should be fine here. She was intensely curious about this creature and what she was doing though and wanted to know what this was all about. words: 281

RE: Roll the Bones - Giggle - Jun 13 2015 Giggle peered up at the sound of a bird approaching, and was understandably surprised to note that, instead, it was a lioness. For a brief instant some faint, instinctive disgust, even hatred, flickered through her. An instant later she'd shaken it away, and was peering curiously at this newcomer. "I see the bones," she answered, voice hoarse and gruff--particularly for a female, and one so young. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and she peered slyly at the lioness, eyeing her over. "Who are you? Why do you sound of birds? Would you like to see...? Maybe Giggle sees--maybe I see for you, yes? The bones, they show what will be. I can see your future, cat, if you wish?" Giggle eyed the lioness, and then leaned one paw down to kick aside a bone. She watched it carefully as it scattered a few more, watching the way they spun and caught the light, the way they landed, the way they rocked as they settled. And then she looked to Makyna, again. "They say you follow your dreams. They show desire. What is it you want? What do you want to see? You can ask them anything, you know." This last came with a hint of almost childlike enthusiasm, the hyena trotting down a bit to stand closer to the lioness, peering at her curiously. Roll the bones. RE: Roll the Bones - Makyna - Jun 13 2015 The lioness waited patiently as the hyena, apparently named Giggle, explained what the bones were for. So, she saw the future in the bones? Was that it? A strange talent, one that she'd never heard of before. "My name is Makyna. I sound of birds because it is a spell I learned, one that allows me to mimic things." The lioness explained with a grin. She supposed a cat walking in and sounding like a bird must be pretty weird to someone who didn't know about Mimicry. "The future, hmm? Interesting." That would certainly be something she was interested in. She watched as the hyena hit the bone and it spun. Follow her dreams? Didn't she always follow her dreams? Then, Giggle asked what she wanted to see. "Hmmm...." She mused to herself. What did she want to see? Would she be a magic master? Would she come to learn an infinite amount of spells? That was almost what she asked but her mouth had a mind of its own. "I want to know... Me and Cancer. Shall we always be? If not then who shall I be with?" She asked because deep down this troubled her. She was with Cancer now but frequently thought of Leon... How was that even right? words: 212

RE: Roll the Bones - Giggle - Jun 13 2015 Never mind that Giggle was a grand total of two or three weeks old; the spotted hyena held some deep-seated, instinctive disdain for the lioness that she was struggling to overcome. But she just smiled, toothy and broad, turning to lift a large, heavy femur in her powerful jaws--one scored and scarred already by her fangs. She carried it up the slope and set it down between her paws. Giggle chortled, then fired a grin at Makyna that was borderline unpleasant, before tossing the bone forward off the boulder. It crashed into the other bones, sending a couple flying clear off over the stone, the rest scattering and bouncing off of one another. Meanwhile, Giggle was murmuring--almost a chant. "The bird of cats, the cat of birds, singing song without her words... Notes so sweet, and eyes so blue--" and Giggle glanced up almost maliciously at Makyna again--"She asks to know which love is true." Giggle eyed the bones, and then let out a distinctly unpleasant cackle, before sitting down--still perched up on her boulder--and peering down at Makyna. "There has been battle, they say. Scarred bones for victory. Broken, for sacrifices made." Giggle looked down at the bones, grinning. "But now it stays as it is, and is as it stays, and it grows cold, does it not? --The bones show ice again, bird-cat Makyna, do you know what is ice, what ice is? ...Ice is as it is, as it stays, as it will be. The heat leaks away. It is cold." The hyena nodded forward, down toward a few rib bones at the far end that seemed stacked over one another rather haphazardly, having tumbled that way from the bone casting. Her voice grew softer. "Ice is stagnation--but then... comes fire. And what is fire... it destroys the old, yes, yes... it is passion. Heat. Warmth. And it chaaaaaaanges!" She broke into a peal of chittering laughter, harsh and somehow menacing, at odds with her words. "And fire has light, yes? It shows what you did not see, before. It will be cold, and still, bird-cat--and then it will change, and be warm and bright, and you will know a truth that you cannot see now. Not from the ice. Wait for the fire to come. You will see." Giggle nodded, utterly sure of herself, and proud. She waited to see what the bird-singing cat Makyna would say to this. Roll the bones. RE: Roll the Bones - Makyna - Jun 13 2015 Songcat? The lioness liked that, it called to her and fit her. Was it possible that Makyna wasn't just her name? What if she had a second name? One that described her a little bit more, like Songcat. Yes. That was it. Her name wasn't just Makyna... it was, Makyna Songcat. She wanted to thank the hyena for giving her her surname but didn't. There were other matters to attend to, such as the fortune. The hyena flashed her a creepy grin... one that sent shivers down her spine and a feeling of distaste in her belly. Makyna had been unaware of the hyena's instinctual flashes of dislike but now... she was feeling them herself. Something about hyenas being untrustworthy and devious... it was an instinctual dislike that she wished she could rid herself of but now that it had been awakened she couldn't. She didn't like hyenas... It wasn't fair of her to think but she couldn't rid herself the thought now. Not even at the compliments to her attributes. Then, whatever sort of sorcery the hyena was using for fortunes she couldn't help but admit that it was accurate. Ice. She'd been born with ice... or rather snow. The lioness nodded her head. Yes, she knew what ice was. The hyena continued on with speaking of fire... she would see the truth through fire. Her friend Leon was fire. "But... fire... My friend Leon is a fire elemental. Do the bones mean him?" Her voice quavered as she asked this. Wondering if the hyena could expound on the fortune or if she was just the messenger of tales. words: 270

Instead she trotted down and lifted another in her teeth, tossing it forward. A few of them scattered and landed crossways, one over the other, like X's piled on. Giggle looked over them solemnly, contemplating, and then lifted her gaze to the Song-Cat, Makyna. "I ask of the fire and the bones show cross-ways. Where things cross, there are paths crossing. Where things cross, there are exchanges. A gift given, received. A partnership. Your fire is your friend. Your enlightenment will come with the light itself." Giggle pondered, briefly, her tone and expression somewhat more solemn, now. She looked back to the bones, and then to Makyna. "You ask what will come after the cold and the ice and the stillness. It will take time. But his fire, the fire-friend, his will be your beacon. Song-Cat." Roll the bones. RE: Roll the Bones - Makyna - Jun 14 2015 The hyena told her to crack a bone and see if there was blood inside but she waited. The lioness thought Giggle would crack it open herself but she did no such thing. Instead the hyena grabbed another quite suddenly and threw it. The lioness stepped back a couple of paces so she wouldn't interrupt the bones. When they landed they were sitting across each other. Ky didn't know what it meant but the hyena did. The light of realization showed in her eyes as the hyena laid bare her fortune. The light... Leon would be her light? But... What about Cancer? She didn't want to believe but the fortune was there. However, how could she know that this was even real? A part of her nagged and said it was real the same way her hindsight and future sight abilities were but she tried to push it away. No. She loved Leon yes but... she liked Cancer too. He was sweet. This was all too much! She needed to go and clear her head to think. The lioness dipped her head with a forced smile. "Thank-you for the reading. It was..." Shockingly accurate? Scarily true? "Very good." She said. She hoped she hadn't offended but even now her dislike flared up again. She had to go... had to get away from this creature that her very instincts didn't like. So, with a farewell dip of her head, she took her leave. words: 242

He didn't like being away from Vazi but he also knew that the deer and him needed time to grow apart so that they could find more cool stories to share with one another. Besides, his big bro didn't need him hanging around when that nice wolf lady kept him company! Wyn had friends that were cool like that too- like his guardian angel, the giant deer. Deers watched out for him wherever he went and so he was sure to be safe, now wasn't he? The fluffy lamb hopped up into a pile of bones, blinking as they clattered under his hooves. He had absolutely no idea what they were, the pretty white things, but they looked super cool. Honestly, this whole place, bleached canvas white in stone and bones, was amazing. His breath was taken away as he pitter pattered around, looking for friends and adventure. And oh boy did he find one. A strange critter, one that had a hilarious voice, might he add, drew him in. He crept closer, just as one lioness went rushing off. He hardly noticed though-- see, the Hyena was playing with something and he wanted to play too! So he came right on up to the canine, eyes bright, and introduced himself. "Hi there, I'm Wynry! What'cha dooooing?" RE: Roll the Bones - Giggle - Jun 14 2015 Giggle nodded slightly to the lioness as she spoke, and watched as Song-Cat turned tail and fled shortly thereafter. She wasn't sure quite why the cat had made off so quickly, but she supposed it had been some uncomfortable truth or other revealed to her through the bones. She grinned unpleasantly at the lioness's back. The creature was ill-at-ease, and she herself had done only her promised work. She was rather pleased with this. Really, one couldn't ask for more--but what was this? She tilted her head as a lamb bounced up to her, all cheer and goodwill, introducing himself and questioning her with bright eyes and even brighter tone. She snorted softly, and smirked, both slightly softened, and slightly hungrier. "I am telling fortunes in the bones, sharp-footed-thing, happy thing. I am Giggle. Hello." She tilted her head, eyeing the lamb over. She could use more practice with it, really, with the bonecasting. "Would you like me to tell you your future, fluffy-happy-sharp-footed-thing? ...Wynry?"
