Golem Here, Golem There - Hiccup - Sep 25 2018

Nestled in the rubble of the remains of the golem dam rested a small chrysalis. It was dark in color, but upon closer inspection the colors of a rainbow danced along its surface. It was beautiful in a subtle way, just like the live that developing inside of it. A tiny kitten, no bigger than a cave rat rested inside. It seemed peaceful. At least, until a golem sat atop of the little chrysalis. What stirred inside seemed displeased. The kitten writhed and kicked until the stone buckled. The golem toppled over and the small kitten hissed at it bounding after it.

Yea! And stay out! She thought, huffing and puffing. The new gembound was not fit in any sense of the word. Her stout little legs didn't take her far but the effort it took to give temporary chase to the stone creature wore her out. Of course, now that that was taken care of, the little sand cat looked around. She was in a huge room. Wow... its so-

Hic, hic hich!

A fit of hiccups took over the little cats thoughts.

RE: Golem Here, Golem There - Njeri - Sep 25 2018

A few scant weeks had passed since Njeri had hatched from her own chrysalis and she was already finding such joy in this world. Everything was so fresh and new to her that she couldn't help touching everything, whether it be with her nose or her paw. She'd passed most of it with Artume, but had just begun to become mobile enough and confident enough to venture without the protective eye of her watchful pseudo guardian. She has most of the way down Tunnel I when a commotion up ahead caught her eye.

A figure was ambling across Polaris, seemingly large and awkward to the lion cub. She hunched down behind a rock, bright eyes peering up over the edge, her pupils widely dilated. It did little of interest, squatting down as if to sit on a small glimmering rock. However, almost as soon as it did so, it tumbled sideways and shuffled away from a tiny bobbing, yellow figure. Njeri squinted, forcing her still fresh to this world eyes to focus only to realize it was also kitten shaped!

Excitedly she chirruped and began charging from her "hiding" spot just inside Tunnel I, her stone dragging along the ground behind her and clattering over the ground.

"Hey! Hey, hi! Hey!" She chanted as she toddler ran in the direction of the newly hatched gemborn, repeating the phrases of greeting she'd heard thus far. As she got close enough, she continued into the kitten's personal bubble, having not learned that not quite everyone appreciated this forthrightness. Her freckled nose attempted to press against the baby's cheek and forehead, even as she spoke in introduction.

"Imnjeri," she crammed her words together in excitement. "Whosyou?"

She withdrew just far enough to grin stupidly, the start of tiny baby fangs protruding from her gums. Her tail twitched, still not strong enough to hoist the gem and one paw was half raised, as if waiting for any indication of play.

Lily walked slowly, looking around. Every so often he’d sniff the air, hoping to catch scent of something. He hadn’t figured out the sad truth yet. He stopped when he heard a strange sound, then he heard someone talking. He followed the sound slowly and eventually came up to two strange creatures that he had never seen before. He looked around slowly before slowly moving his tail in front of his face. He was feeling a little shy today, perhaps he could just hide behind his tail and not be seen, that worked, right?

RE: Golem Here, Golem There - Hiccup - Sep 25 2018

After her little hiccup fit, the sand cat started to sniff around. Were there more of those things around? Her little eyes narrowed, she hoped not! She wasn't sure if she would be able to scare off another one! It sure took a lot of energy out of her and gave her hiccups! It didn't seem like there were any more of those... things. Instead, a different thing came charging over.

The kitten scampered backwards. Despite this lions young age, it was still considerably bigger then the little sand cat. Her rump thumbed against the ground, but she continued to lean back as the cub got closer and closer until the little sand cat toppled backwards. It's nose rubbed on her cheek and forward, but the Sandcat was too surprised to hiss.

It was like the lion cub was speaking gibberish. The hiccuping kittens new brain had trouble keeping up with this other gembound. Her eyes were squinted as her brain slowly ticked to decipher the series of sounds.

Imnerji! What are you! She tried to say, but instead it came out as a series of little meows. A disgruntled snort escaped the kitten as she scrambled back on to her feet.

As she did so, she noticed another furry thing not far from them. Her little body froze as she stared at it. She turned her gaze to Imnerji then back to the fuzzy thing as if to say, are you seeing this? Where was its head? Why did it just look like a puffball?

The little kitten slowly crept forward before raising a tiny paw into the air and brought it down, smacking the furry ball. After she did this, she looked back to the cub.

RE: Golem Here, Golem There - Njeri - Sep 25 2018

The tinier kitten had tried to withdraw from her, but Njeri had continued undaunted with her investigations, still not capable of picking up on social cues. As the sand cat spoke, or mewled, Njeri's head tilted, a brief flicker of a concentrated frown wrinkling her forehead. She wasn't quite sure what the cup had said but it didn't really matter, as the little yellow creature was also already onto the next big adventure. A small black and white critter had joined their party, waddling in and stopping a short distance away in silence.

"Hey, hi!" She shouted at the new creature, a grin splitting her lips. "I'm Njeri!"

She managed her name only slightly more clearly this time, no longer being quite as desperate to introduce herself. As Hiccup approached the other infant, Njeri trotted forward. As the kitten smacked the black and white puff with her paw, Njeri's body began to communicate a fierce desire to join in the play. She stalked another step forward, eyes wide and butt wiggling as she prepared to pounce. The kitten's look back at her was clearly a signal to pounce and she did, leaping toward the new arrival with all the subtlety of a oncoming semi-truck.

It was a magnificently awkward thing, all flailing paws and the scrape, rattle and roll as she dragged her tail gem across the ground. However, he did manage to reach and ensnare the little thing in her paws. She did so gently, bodily hugging the fluffball to her chest as she began to lick it with long swipes of her tongue, rumbling with a muted purr in happiness.

Lily was booped by one of the creatures and then suddenly tackled and licked by the other. Lily didn’t like this at all, and the next thing he knew, his tail rose and with that, a foul smell appeared, even if it was just a little. Njeri Would of got the blunt of the foul smell, being so close. Of course, Lily couldn’t smell a thing. He came out of hiding finally, the little gem on his nose very visible now. His voice was soft and very feminine.

“Hel- .... hello... Who are you two? Why did you do that?”

He looked around shyly then his under his tail again.

“I’m Lily”

He spoke a little quieter that time, he watched the two closely now, ready to move at any moment’s notice, or at least try.

Laughter erupted from the kitten as Njeri pounced on the fluffy thing. Hiccup quickly followed suit, hobbling over to join in the grooming of the fluffy thing. The kitten purred alongside the lion cub as she licked the it. It was such a funny looking thing. Her joy was cut short by the sudden appearance of a terrible stench.

Hiccup let out a meow of surprise and scampered backwards as fast as she could. The little kitten gagged and shook her head. And then, her hiccups started up again. Her tiny body jumped with each hiccup and she struggled to get it under control.

Lily? She thought, wrinkling her nose. I thought Lily's were meant to smell good! Hiccup gave on last cough before looking closely at this new gembound.

What are you? She tried to ask, but once again, just a flurry of quiet mews escaped her.

RE: Golem Here, Golem There - Njeri - Sep 25 2018

For one beautiful moment it seemed like they were all having fun - her other new cat friend was also grooming the new fluffball and Njeri was just about to ask it's name when it happened.

Njeri was still figuring out a lot of things in this world, including her likes and dislikes. If truth were told, she hadn't really found a lot that she disliked, but she knew she hated this. One moment she was happily cuddling the new fluffy addition to their group and the next her nose and eyes, and oh god her throat, were all burning in reaction to the noxious odor that was released. Startled and afraid at the burning she was experiencing she released the fluffball and blindly started to back pedal, her entire body contorting as she gagged.

Panicked, she mewled as she attempted to wipe it from her face, still backing up. As any infant does when confronted with the first sign of danger, she immediately began calling out for the only adult-ish figure she knew. "Art-ume? Artume! Help!"

Pathetically the lion cub collapsed a few feet away, still trying to brush the burning stink from her face and nose. Blearily she blinked at the two of them, barely able to make out that the kitten was making those strange chirping noises again. She hadn't heard anyone make those noises before and it was almost enough to distract her from her misery. At any rate, the restoration of her vision was enough to change her mood about the whole situation. Whole-body gagging one last time she rose to her oversized paws and marched closer, this time stopping sagely by Hiccup's side.

"Why?!" She demanded indignantly of the Skunk, having been too distracted by the stink-attack to have acknowledged anything Lily had said. Both brown freckled ears remained pinned against her head and a crinkle was present on her nose.

"Not nice," she proclaimed in contempt before nosing at the kitten's side. She couldn't smell anything of course, her nostrils still overpowered and burning with the stink she could already feel clinging to her fur. Njeri kept one eye on the bad-stink but the rest of her attention returned to her friend. "Yous ok?"

Lily watched as the two ran back, he was so confused. What was wrong with them? He sniffed but he couldn’t smell anything. His head just tilted as the blame went on him.

“I don’t understand. What did I do? What wasn’t nice?”

Lily sat down and folded his tail around himself, he continued to watch the other two, still having no idea what just happened.

The kittne gave her head another good shake, her eyes still stung. But it seemed as if Njeri had gotten the worst of the stink attack. She watched the little lioness writhed around and cried out a random word before recovering enough to march over to Hiccups side. A name, maybes?

Seeing that she still hadn't figured out this whole talking thing. Hiccup gave a stern nod as Njeri questioned the stink creature. Yea, why! She thought, scowling hard to get her point across. The kitten gave another nod as the little lion declared that what Lily did was not nice. When Njeri asked if she was all right, Hiccup gave a little meow confident meow. She was just fine, other than being quite stinky. Hiccup turned her gaze back to the stinky thing.

"Y-you!" Her small mouth moved around oddly as she tried to form words, "Shtinky!" She declared with a stomp of her tiny paw.
