What an Interesting Perfume... - Humphrey - Sep 26 2018
The scraggly looking fox had finally made it another room. He wondered where Max had taken off to, but he was sure his companion would show up sooner or later. That pup seemed to always avoid trouble despite his major lack of focus. Through their travels, Humphrey had acquired a small pouch that he wore with pride over his neck and around his left leg. The pouch remained empty for now, but he hoped to soon change that by filling it with shiny and colorful things.
He squinted, his pink eyes straining from all the light in this room, and continued forward. The foxes nose was close to the ground as he trotted onward. The only way he would really see those shiny things would be if he saw them up close. But, his pink nose was also sniffing around for flowers. The more pungent the odor, the more ornate the flower!
It only took him a moment to catch a whiff of something rather foul. He lifted his head and tilted it, turning his nose to the air to get a better trail. Once on it, he followed. If he were to find a deal body there would certainly be colorful beetles working on the carcass or fresh flowers from the bones. Little did he know he was hot on the trail of something very much alive.

Lily was curled up, his nose buried deep in his tail fur, his eyes shut softly. Little did he know, he had skunked in his sleep and that smell was bringing in a unwanted visitor. He was all snuggly and cute. It was difficult to see his face with how he was curled up.

Humphrey continued to follow his nose, the scent got stronger and stronger as he went along. He picked up the pace until he came up the source. It was not a dead thing! In fact... it looked like a fluffy little gembound. It's little body was mostly back with a white stripe. The fox tilted his head. Was this the thing that smelled so strongly? He crept forward and gave it a whiff. He shook his head, yep, this sure was the thing.
Maybe if he woke it up he could ask if it rolled in a dead thing and if so, where that dead thing might be. He gave the little thing a gentle poke.
"Hello?"

Lily slowly awoke as he was poked. He stretched out. He looked up to see who awoke him only to see another creature. Quickly, his tail came to protect his face, showing only his eyes.
“Oh...H-He-Hello. Who are you?”
Lily’s voice was so soft and feminine. In fact, one could easily believe he was female from voice alone. He hid behind his tail, watching shyly.

"I'm Humphrey, who are you? and what are you?" The young fox figured it would be good to get the formalities out of the way before asking the big question. Why do you smell like that?The fox sat down and waited patiently for a reply.

Lily listened to Humphrey and tilted his head. This creature looked strange for some reason. He continued to hide behind his own tail as he answered.
“Lily.....I’m... I’m a skunk.”
Despite knowing what he was, he didn’t know about his own skunk smell. It was strange actually.

Humphrey squinted at the fuzzy lump. Well, the fuzzy lump now named Lily. Lily the skunk. Hmm... a skunk... Something told him that that would explain the stinky smell. It was far from a pleasant smell, but he didn't want to be rude and scamper off.
"I am a fox, an albino fox." He offered a small smile. "I cannot see very well and the sun hurts my eyes! Why are you all alone?" He inquired with a tilt of the head, though he had an idea.

Lily shuffled his paw softly as Humphrey kept on asking question after question. He looked up to him, head tilted as he mentioned he couldn’t see very well and the fact that sun hurt his eyes. Strange.
“Oh....well uuh... I .... I just kinda.... I just kinda being alone sometimes.”
Flower gave a small shy smile, not that he’d see it with a big fluffy tail in the way covering the face.
