Olympics - Loser's Bracket Winner - Sergei - May 18 2019 So, Sergei wasn't too sure why he was fighting to be a loser. From what he understood, he'd already lost--but there was something called a "loser's bracket?" And apparently some of the other combatants lined up for it hadn't shown for their fights. swindlers, taking good fights away from others, but so be it. This left it as he versus the black wolf Jayberry for "best loser," whatever that meant. He was a simple bear. He didn't care much for the reasoning behind it--his dull mind assumed that it meant he was winning something, at least. More than that, however, he liked to fight. He wanted to fight. It was fun. It was, from what little he could grasp, the final battle. All the other winners had been declared. Shaking his thick fur, he waddled up and squared off, waiting for the judges to tell him to begin. @Glory or @Azizos & @Jayberry RE: Olympics - Loser's Bracket Winner - Azizos - May 18 2019 On the bright side, this was the last of the battles, and he expected it to be fairly eventful. The large brown bear, Sergei, was a formidable fighter, if a bit slow-witted. Brawn and bulk was matched with instinct in that one. Jayberry, the final opponent, was a wolf of... uh, murderous origin. Azizos wasn't particularly happy about that one, but she hadn't caused much trouble yet. "Here, at the end of the Olympics, we have Sergei and Jayberry," he glanced to where the black wolf would (hopefully) be, "competing for the last honor. No bloodshed, no broken bones. Keep it clean." He trotted back up to the judges's post. "Go." @Jayberry RE: Olympics - Loser's Bracket Winner - Jayberry - May 29 2019

Sergei watched. The other Gembound was smaller, though larger than some of the others he'd seen here. Still, it looked quick. He opened his jaws to offer some sort of greeting, a hope for a good fight, but before he could speak, Jayberry had charged for him in a streak of blinding speed. Her size wasn't enough to knock his legs out from under him, though he stumbled a little, with a grunt. As quick as he could, while she was in close, he hauled all his strength back to unleash a powerful downward blow. It wasn't intended to truly harm the wolf--not to break bones, or the like--but he did hope to send her crashing down or tumbling away with the strike. Sergei remembered, too, to keep from going down claws-first. That might end badly, and he didn't want that. @Sergei RE: Olympics - Loser's Bracket Winner - Sergei - May 29 2019 Sergei's paw came crashing down on nothing, disbalancing him briefly. He turned, lips curling a little, dark beady eyes quickly searching out the wolf. She was fast, yes--he still wasn't sure if he preferred fighting a massive dragon, or one of these little, quick things. He broke into a surprisingly swift (though not particularly agile) gallop at once, a startling burst of violent motion, charging straight for her. If she could dodge in time, she'd be fine, he knew--but he had to press the offensive, to keep her on her toes. If he did manage to hit her, he'd hopefully smash into her; perhaps he might bowl her over, but that wish was maybe getting a little ahead of himself. Round: 2/5 Attempt: CHAAAAARGE Defense: Injuries: Minor scratches from prior fights @Jayberry RE: Olympics - Loser's Bracket Winner - Jayberry - May 29 2019
RE: Olympics - Loser's Bracket Winner - Sergei - May 29 2019 Sergei felt the hit, felt the wolf slammed aside and tumbling. He heard her swear, loudly, and he barrelled past, too much mass going too fast to stop on a dime. He turned, huffing, and then--unwilling to immediately attack again, in case Jayberry was actually wounded--he pushed up on his hind legs. It was partially to survey the situation, but also to give himself room--if the wolf had to leap upward to get any sort of decent strike on him, he could bring his weight crashing back down. Hell, while he was up there... I may as well roar, he decided, instinct taking him. Intimidation, that was the spirit! Maybe he could scare Jayberry into just... giving up. Or not. No, probably not. His jaws opened, though, the lower lip dangling and drooling, thick fangs bared as his guttural bellow echoed forth. Whether he was actually out of the wolf's reach, or not, he couldn't really say--but for now, he watched her from his standing position, to make sure she wasn't really wounded before they went on. Round: 3/5 Attempt: Stand tall, a bit out of 'reach' Defense: Injuries: Minor scratches from prior fights @Jayberry RE: Olympics - Loser's Bracket Winner - Jayberry - Jun 01 2019

The wolf came charging, and before Sergei could drop back down, she'd thrown herself full into his chest. He staggered, twisting to land on his front legs, but his balance had been thrown off and he stumbled heavily. He couldn't throw his weight on her, like he'd wanted to--like he'd planned to. She'd been too quick to dart in and make contact. Instinctively, he did the only thing that he could really do--he slammed out his forelimb, turning back toward her from where he'd landed, trying to backhand Jayberry powerfully away.
