The Eternal Storm - Azure - May 30 2019 May end up Mature for Violence/Injury Azure was looking for food--this much wasn't uncommon, really. She was slipping as closely as she dared to the Twister, seeking along its path for foliage and for insects disrupted by its passing. Often, she'd found. it'd leave uprooted plants and dead bugs in its wake, sometimes even smaller Lessers. She took what she could get. It didn't move all that far, so there wasn't usually much left from its prior... years? Decades? Centuries, even? of passing to and fro. But it was a bite to eat, periodically, and easy enough to scavenge. Quietly she fluttered along, all four wings helping her to bank and turn more easily. She would land, snap something small up into her mouth, and then move on. She was absorbed enough in her feeding that she wasn't really paying attention--bar a periodic, obviously-nervous glance--around now and again. @Asimona RE: The Eternal Storm - Asimona - May 30 2019 Not often did Asimona leave her nest in Pisces but she had to now. Because back home was worry and anxiety for her children, who seemed to drift farther and farther from the nest every day. They were full grown now, but that didn't stop Asimona from thinking of them as the little babies that she loved so dearly. But she could feel tinges of mania edging into the corners of her mind, obsession for their well-being almost taking over her every thought and action. And clarity burst in one day, telling her one thing: leave. tags: @Azure notes: RE: The Eternal Storm - Azure - May 30 2019 The voice, for all her paranoid awareness, caught her off-guard. She kicked herself mentally as she looked up (for how many times I've seen that black dragon about, you'd think I'd fucking watch the air), though at the same time she noted that the dragon seemed... friendly enough. Azure hesitated, glancing off at the twister and turning to face up to Asimona. "In it?" she asked, with a bit of a surprised tone that echoed her thought of, "Why would anyone ever want to go in it?" She looked back up at Asimona again, her body language uncertain and tense. If that thing decided to attack her, she'd be toast--and her experience with the caves wasn't exactly one of pleasant kindness. Everyone she'd ever met had been a killer, either killing others or out to kill them--or just an asshole. Kindness was unknown to her, but she didn't snark back (not that she had any urge to, anyway) for fear of Asimona's sheer size. "I haven't lived here that long, though. " She hurried to introduce herself--maybe if they got friendly, the thing wouldn't just decide to eat her. "I'm Cloudberry--Azure, now--"she corrected herself, forgetting for a moment in her nervousness. "I came here maybe... a few weeks ago? A couple cycles? I haven't seen you around," she added, making a tense attempt at small talk. @Asimona RE: The Eternal Storm - Asimona - May 31 2019 Asimona nodded, not really listening that much to Cloudberry, a little too focused on her plan. The more time that passed the less and less sure she was going to do this. Why did she want to do this again? Because it was a challenge? Because it was new? She should just turn around and go back to her children. tags: @Azure notes: RE: The Eternal Storm - Azure - May 31 2019 The response came quiet, still wary, instinctive--and interrupted at Asimona's realization, and outburst. "Hi, then, Asim--ahh shit." And that anger--You're a monster----she was caught by that. Was she-? How would she even know what a monster was? Fear spiked in her--This thing is going to kill me-- followed by anger. She didn't deserve this, she'd been born into that life and hadn't ever felt a part of it. She had never hurt anyone, and opened her mouth to say so, stepping carefully back on her two feet, wings spreading to prepare to take flight if Asimona leapt at her. At the same time, the hopelessness of the situation struck her--dually filling her with fear and with anger. "I didn't ask for them to make me, and I never hurt anyone. It's why I'm out here. It's why I changed my name," she went on, urgent, wary. She expected an attack to come at any moment, and mentally, she cursed her luck, her family, and the entire fucking world that had brought her to this point. @Asimona RE: The Eternal Storm - Asimona - May 31 2019 The dragon's tail lashed behind her, slamming against rocks and throwing them into the twister as she glared down at Cloudberry. She stared at the thing, at its pointed face, the large feathered tail, the wings, the hooves...definitely one of Blackberry and Blueberry's spawn. She looked ready to fly so Asimona focused on the area around her feet. She wanted to freeze them in place so she couldn't escape and terrorize more creatures around the caves, but no magic came to her beyond her rage. No matter. If she flew, Asimona would pursue. tags: @Azure notes: RE: The Eternal Storm - Azure - May 31 2019 Azure weighed her options quickly. She could sit there and argue--with a dragon--about how she'd REALLY never hurt anyone, and didn't intend to start, and--ask about how Asimona had saved Blackberry, and try to defuse the situation. But the dragon was roaring at her, and her other option--fleeing--now seemed a lot better. Still not great--but better. She wouldn't make it--she didn't think she could outfly the massive dragon, unless she made for the gorges and tried to use her agility... but that was under the Twister. "Fuck," was all she said, and more to herself, as she sprang back and took flight, turning and beating all four wings in a frantic attempt to reach the Twister and the Gorge beneath. She'd never been in an aerial chase, before, but it seemed that now was the first time. @Asimona RE: The Eternal Storm - Asimona - May 31 2019 As soon as Cloudberry took flight, Asimona's tensed wings flooded outwards and she leaped into the air right behind her. She didn't hesitate this time. She would not be getting away. Cold magic flooded up her throat and her jaws opened wide. Another roar burst from her mouth, but this one was followed by a magical burst of freezing air and chunks of ice, directed straight at Azure. tags: @Azure notes: RE: The Eternal Storm - Azure - May 31 2019
She heard the crackling exhale of the dragon's breath behind her, the swift bass beating of wings. Somehow, she expected fire--to be engulfed in dragon's flame, burnt to a crisp. The sensation of sudden, biting cold she for a moment mistook for burning--and it did burn, caves did it burn, but it wasn't fire at all. She heard more cracks--closer--the cracking of ice as her wings suddenly grew heavy, even immobile. She hadn't yet made it to the twister, but she'd been close, arrowing straight for it with the intent of diving down into the Gorges--but now she couldn't move, couldn't maneuver her wings, the ice encasing her limbs and torso. With a final desperate twist, she tried to shift her weight to fall instead of flinging straight forward. She twisted, yes--her vision spinning, so she was looking back, for a brief moment, at the massive silver dragon arrowing after her. Azure's terrified gaze stared back at Asimona for an instant, horrified, realizing she was probably about to die--how can it end THAT fast?!--before her body spun around again, hurtling in dizzying, blinding circles straight for the Twister itself. The ice continued to spread in the split-second it took her to hit the howling winds, which flung her back out--straight down for the gorges she had ironically been aiming for prior. But now she couldn't fly, and the fall, she knew, would be devastating. Her last thought as she plummeted, as the spinning world flung her (mercifully quickly) down into the ravine, was a heart-sinking oh, fuck and then the ground was filling her vision, and crashing up to meet her. Azure hit the ground hard, unconscious on impact, body limp and shattered--the ice quickly encasing her consumed and replaced by the brilliant sapphire gemstone. world's fastest exit @Asimona RE: The Eternal Storm - Asimona - May 31 2019 Asimona watched with satisfaction as the ice spread, freezing the hybrid's every feather, spreading in a beautiful, terrible pattern and she watched as they twisted around. She prepared for them to fight her, fight back against her coming death, but all the dragon saw on her face was horror. Terror. And for a moment Asimona wondered if she saw confusion. Why? tags: notes: *exit |
