wait, ain't that bad?! - Eythan - Jun 18 2019 [Marked as Mature for Eythan's inability to not swear.] After stepping in front of Kalama, forbidding her from joining in on the Trials --- no, she can't go in on the basis of one of those weirdly-numbered Gembound being fairly similar to her --- Eythan sulked back into Canis. He hoped that all of the poor fucks who walked into Hydra, in hindsight, would be alright. If they were going in en masse, they could keep an eye on one another, right? @Game Master Dark RE: wait, ain't that bad?! - Game Master Dark - Jun 18 2019 As it so happened, curiosity did kill the cat, but satisfaction brought it back. The Collector was fine with just the "killing" part, though.
"Your words are wounding," came the silky voice, filled with mock-hurt. The Collector stepped from the shadows slightly behind and to Eythan's left, pacing toward him slowly, as if to come up alongside. "I come when summoned by those in need, I hardly breathe down anyone's necks." He drew as close as Eythan would allow, then, practically breathing down his neck, if able. "But I'll overlook your insult, for now. Tell me your questions, my boy, and perhaps we can work out a price." The claws of one hand ticked slowly over the claws of the other, crimson pinprick eyes unblinking. @Eythan RE: wait, ain't that bad?! - Eythan - Jun 18 2019 It seemed like the direction he faced never really mattered, because the bootleg car salesman sauntered out of the dark and literally breathed down his neck anyways. The musky odor of old bones flitted up to his nostrils, and Eythan was not happy with that. He shuffled away awkwardly, fanning out his tail in a totally aggressive gesture. It wasn't like he could bare teeth or unsheathe claws, yeah? The Chambers were a bit small to start showing off his wings in, and that was a stupid idea anyways. What was he, some kind of fuckin' bird of paradise? @Game Master Dark RE: wait, ain't that bad?! - Game Master Dark - Jun 18 2019 The Collector stared, for a very long moment. At length he turned, crooking a finger; his slouch gave way to a stiffly-upright, tense posture and the horned head glanced left and right. "Come," he said. "It would not do to be caught talking about it here."
Swiftly he began to pace off, making his way to the Bone Fortresses--if Eythan chose to follow. @Eythan RE: wait, ain't that bad?! - Eythan - Jun 18 2019 Woah, shit, was that a reaction? @Game Master Dark RE: wait, ain't that bad?! - Game Master Dark - Jun 18 2019 The Collector was deep in thought as he led the way to the fortresses. Truly, the walk was mostly to give him time to think. Granted, he'd rather not have the Masters come strolling out of Hydra mid-conversation--that would be something to explain--but he had to be careful of what he said. He had a task, a goal, and this would have to be played very carefully indeed. And if Hag-rteho had been talking down about him, well...
A grin played beneath the hood, though by the time he ducked into a low-ceilinged hut of woven bones, it had slipped away like a shadow. "Here," he murmured, stepping into its farther corner and turning--hunched within--to peer at Eythan. "Truly, have they told you nothing of Hydra..?" he asked--and his voice held nothing but quiet, wary solemnity. "You know not what it is for?" @Eythan RE: wait, ain't that bad?! - Eythan - Jun 18 2019 Well, shit, he was definitely following the Collector like a poodle to sate his curiosity. @Game Master Dark RE: wait, ain't that bad?! - Game Master Dark - Jun 18 2019 Those pinprick eyes seemed to widen a fraction. Genuine surprise, or was it an act?
"They are awakening past Champions..? Oh, this is very serious, then." A long, claw-nailed finger pointed to Eythan. "A trial, yes... but has he told you what they are for? Why they forge the strong... or what they do with the weak..?" This last trailed off, far more quietly. "We all have our place in these caves, but... Well. I will answer the former to the best of my knowledge, and the latter, entirely... but you, in turn, must swear upon your very life that you will never tell a soul who it was who told you. This is the price that I ask--for my own safety, of course. Do you agree..?" His voice was quiet: conspiratorial, and tense. @Eythan RE: wait, ain't that bad?! - Eythan - Jun 18 2019 Eythan was just about to repeat himself and his obnoxious air quotes drawl, (y'know, forging the strong was what the trials were, clearly) but realized that the Collector was just being a dramatic, vague bitch. Keen eyes glinted in the half-light, trying his level best to not shuffle uncomfortably away from the pointed finger. @Game Master Dark RE: wait, ain't that bad?! - Game Master Dark - Jun 18 2019 "We must finalize this contract," the Collector answered simply, that long, extended finger reaching forward. He leaned down, intending to press it to Eythan's forehead.
