A child of mine, I hope - Zelk - Jun 19 2019

Zelk walked into Eridanus, but not with the intention to train her magic. She already had a great grasp on her earth magic, and her physical training was going well too. She was in Eridanus looking for gemstones, to raise children of her own. She hoped to come across the gemstone that belonged to a bear at least. But it was not her decision, it was simply a matter of chance. Using her magic she tried to hone in on a stone nearby. She was a grown large bear, and maybe now it was time to make her own decisions. If she was successful in this quest of hers, she would end up with young gembound to take back to The Bonebound.

Zelk's spell guides her to a lone, lost gemstone: a small, polished Black Opal flecked with tiny speckles of rainbow colors. It's half-hidden in the dirt, beneath some plants. This stone once belonged to a Pupil (+2)-level alien creature.

This being was smallish in size, perhaps the size of a large dog. Overall, it appeared reptilian--low and squat, with four short-clawed legs that propelled it from its sides, rather than quite beneath it, like a turtle's. Its tail, too, was thick at the base, thin at the tip and medium-length, like a turtle's. Its face was more lizard-like, though blunt and smooth--something like a skink's. The eyes were round and slightly rodent-like in the way they protruded a little, and two horns twisted back from the skull. The strangest thing about this being was, perhaps, its skin: covered in bright magenta feathers from head to tail.

Zelk found one stone, but maybe perhaps on wasn't enough. She decided to look for another. She had no clue who the stones belonged to, but maybe surprises were a good thing. The bear looked for another stone, for she wanted to have options. She tapped into her magic once more, looking for another life filled stone. Zelk found her quest kind of fun, for she did not know what she was going to get. All she knew was the stone held life, and that was about all the information she could get at the moment. Her magic picked up another stone nearby, and she followed the trail while she delicately held the first in her jaws.

Zelk decided to give her magic one more go, to find another stone. The polar bear decided that this was the final time she would use her magic to find a stone. For now at least. Zelk did not expect to be so lucky, but she was glad things worked in her favor. She gently gathered the three life filled stones closer to her. Good, now she found the stones. The next part probably wouldn't be so easy. Would it?

The second gemstone that Zelk would stumble across in the thick foliage of Eridanus, after some searching, would happen to be a Pupil (+2)-magic-level Pearl of polished, pale pink. This once belonged to a rather strange creature about the size of a deer, a couple hundred pounds at the most. It looked rather like a waterfowl--a goose, perhaps, or a duck--but without feathers. Its skin instead was almost reptilian, though smooth, without visible scales or scutes. This creature was a drab, dull blue from head to toe. Rather than a single wing-bone as many birds might have, this one sported more bat-like wings, with several "fingers" structuring the wings. The eyes were more reptilian, as well, and the creature bore fin-like frills around its neck.

The third gemstone was a shining, polished, translucent Amber--a deep and rich golden-yellow in hue, with tiny bubbles trapped within. This once belonged to a Pupil (+2)-level Gaur cow.

Zelk found the stones on her own, now all she needed to do was give life to them on her own. She took a deep breath as she glanced at the first stone. Doubt clouded her mind as her glance turned into a stare. No, she had to have faith in herself. She gently touched the first stone with her nose, and she felt her magic flood through it. It must have worked. With that she set the stone as aside, looking at the other two stones. She hoped her magic worked with them as well.

Zelk's attention turned to the other stone, the second one she had found. Her first try had worked well, so the second should too. Though there were no guarantees that magic would always work. She shook the nervousness away and touched the second stone with her nose, as she did with the first one. Her magic flooded it like it did the previous. Good. Now there was one last stone to tend to. She was confident that her magic would work again. If not, at least it worked twice.

Zelk had one last stone to try her magic on. She no longer felt nervous, just a little bit of curiosity on if this magical attempt would work. She quickly touched her nose to the last stone, and it worked. Zelk was overcome with pride that her magic worked with three stones. Now, the next part of her journey would soon. The bear would have to share this exciting news with the other bonebound. Maybe Eythan would be surprised at her news.
