BLOODSOAKED SAND - Kerberos - Jun 25 2015

Eridanus has always been a waiting paradise.
A lush world of green, thick with the smell of damp soil and wild ferns. The canopy provides shelter, and for a moment, one might think that they were in a true forest instead of the dark, cold caves. This jungle is warm, filled to the brim with life waiting to blossom. Indeed, it is the perfect birthplace or home for any gembound.

Deep in a trench lies a large orb, one that looks as though it could be lost in a sandstorm. As if a tornado had swept through a caravan in the desert, the shell seems to be made of a polished, rounded blender of sand and crismon, hot blood. Violent swatches of red paint the oversized gem, a color that seems only natural for the monster it houses.

Deep inside lays the beast. He grows hungrier and hungrier by the day, his cocoon a protective curtain that he is steadily outgrowing. Indeed, today is the the day the starving hound will break free.

Today, the beast will begin his unending hunt.

He awakened. Three hungry mouths, angry, ferocious, snapped at their tongues. Struggling, the egg wriggled. The creature was too big to fit much longer. The chrysalis started to crack, the noise triggering something innate in the beast. Locked in darkness, a glow of violet and crimson filled the blackness, yet... No. It failed.

The beast roared, three mad voices trapped inside of the small gold and red ball. He was so hungry. He had to be free, to hunt, to eat, to devour. The world would not hold him back a moment longer. Yet, he could not escape. He had to try again, perhaps the minds had not all put together the will to break free.

They would try again. Together. The great white beast would be free.

BARATHEON
"the world is mine for the taking"

The dragon, who was learning more and more by the day, was in need of exploring his surroundings. He loved Orion but he knew there were other lands outside of that starry world, other lands that need be explored. Baratheon fancied himself just the explorer to do so! He left Orion behind, and after snapping up a few bugs for his ravenous appetite he continued onwards. He knew the tunnels well but he had never gone beyond the before. He was excited to do so today.

What he found himself in past one of the tunnels was a vast room filled with large green things. Plants. That was it. Plants, lots of them. Flafe would love this place! He thought it was pretty but as for food... there was none. What was he supposed to eat anyway? Besides the bugs that he gobbled up he didn't know anything else. It was just so tedious to eat all the time and the bugs weren't even that great. He couldn't help but believe their was something missing in his life.

But what?

It was in his wandering and thoughts that he happened upon a strange egg. He knew what these eggs were by now after encountering his own and another's. This egg had scratching and noise coming from the inside just like the other! Did it need help too? Not wanting to waste any time the dragon rushed up to the thing and flapped his wings --subconsciously more than any need to speed up-- and reached the cocoon in no time.

The dragon opened his mouth and squared off his feet. After taking in a deep breath he opened his mouth and released a blast of sonic energy at the egg. It wasn't as strong as usual but it was still enough to hopefully blast open the egg or give aid to whatever was inside. The dragon's tail wagged happily as he waited to see what new friend he would have to play with.

CRACK.

There was another crack, and now light flitted down into the shell. A bright pink eye flashed open to peer through the hole in the egg. Yes. The world. He could smell the scent of another thing, another creature. Something eatable. Instinct drove him to escape, and again he tapped into his untold potential, summoning the strength to break free.

With both the struggling and the help of the outsider, the final burst of energy was almost unnecessary-- the egg was ready to shatter with just a single push as it was-- and with the magic flooding off of his fur the pieces of gem broke into hundreds of pieces and flew away in every direction, littering the world of green with shards of red and yellow.

The monster of a beast fell to the soft, earthy floor. A wet orange nose hit the soil and with a snuffle and a shake, proceeded to get the black dirt everywhere. A head with short ears, bright red nose, raised to the air and chuffed, trying to find the source of the tasty smell-- but among the three heads that the beast held, the middle one's eyes were already locked on the small, ferret-y looking snack.

"Food," the middle woofed, gaining the attention of the two other heads. Finding his paws, the creature rose to his feet, small orange tail trailing out behind the stream of white fur. Three sets of red-pink eyes observed the small, strange animal before them, considering.

He was starving. He wanted to eat.

The three heads bared their teeth at the newcomer.

"Food," the orange tinted one agreed. The three seemed to speak to one another, sharing glances. "Eat?"

"Kill."

BARATHEON
"the world is mine for the taking"

It didn't take long before the rest of the egg was split and out popped the newest creature, after some pomp and circumstance with another energy blast and shattering of the crystal. Baratheon turned his head away, shielding part of his face with an undersized wing. He uncovered himself when the creature was on the ground. Wow! It had three-heads! Three! However, that white fur and pink eyes was unmistakable! It was another lamb!

Giddy with joy at finding another of his species his tufted tail began to wag furiously. Mouth opening in a grin that exposed all of his needle-like fangs. Those rose-hued eyes just seemed to shine with all sorts of glee at this new find. If only he was aware of what the creature was thinking. If only he knew that the "food" they spoke of was him.

At first he looked around when the three-headed lamb said "food". If there was food to be had then he wanted some too! However, he could see nothing but plants. Surely that wasn't what this lamb was talking about. Baratheon turned back to the three-headed one and shook his head. No. There was no food here. However, when the second head chimed in and all three pairs of eyes were locked onto him he knew instantly what food it was talking about.

Him.

The thought of him being food was almost enough to make him laugh. He was no food! He was a lamb! He'd be no ones dish! At the word kill Baratheon shook his head again. "No!" He said quite sharply. He wouldn't be eaten, he wouldn't be killed. Lambs weren't for eating, they were to play with! They should be playing with each other right now! "Play!" He said with a wag of his tail, offering another alternative. Surely this situation could be just laughed off as a mistake of a newborn?

If it wasn't then this young lamb was not about to back down. He could very well run away but something in his blood kept him from doing so. The young lamb would not back one step away in the face of danger.

The small white thing (which wasn't much smaller than him, to be fair) told him no. The three heads looked at one another. "No?" He asked, mostly himself. No did not make sense. He had to eat, he was hungry, and surely he could eat this thing...

But the creature had another idea. Play. The three heads shared their confused look, until the word clicked in their brains. He snorted and his left head turned to stare down the dragon, teeth bared, a gentle snarl in his tone.

"Play with you? Play with food?" He asked, his deep pink eyes boring into the eerily similar gaze of the other being. ".. but I eat food." That explained, it seemed that one of the heads had a clever idea. The middle one met his eyes next, the puppy pushing his paws forward into a play bow.

"I wanna play," he barked, sounding enthusiastic. Play was a fun thing, and after he was done playing, he could eat his food. It was a win win, as far as the baby monster was concerned. "Play with me," he woofed, wagging his scaly orange tail just slightly. His play bow shifted, his eyes narrowing as each head took account of the dragon, sizing him up. The posture shifted to readying a pounce in a brief moment, and then he lunged, teeth snapping.

... And the puppy, oversized paws, slipped in the shifting dirt. His body's momentum set in stone, the white dog crashed head first into the ground and tumbled heels over head. Soil sprayed everywhere, his beautiful, lush snowy fur becoming a mess as he rolled, and finally slid to a stop just beside the dragon.

"Oooowwwwwwwwwww," the heads whimpered-- one tongue was bitten, another hit its jaw, the third had a mouth full of dirt. Paws wiggling, he tried to get back up, but already his first hunt had gotten off on a horrible start.

BARATHEON
"the world is mine for the taking"

Food? No no no! They still had it wrong! He wasn't food. The young dragon shook his head at the lamb. How could he explain this? He couldn't... Not without using more than one word. He rolled his eyes --or would have if he had pupils-- and relented. One paw lifted and a claw pointed towards himself, "Not food." There, he'd broken his rule. Ugh. He felt dirty just doing it. He had his sister to talk for him and never felt the need to do so himself at any length. He supposed it was okay though... His sister wasn't anywhere around.

Finally the big lamb seemed to get the picture and bowed down in what Baratheon assumed was some sort of playing gesture. His head nodded enthusiastically. Yeah! Now he had the picture! "Play!" He said happily, mirroring the three-headed lamb's posture. His tail waggled in the air and his forepaws were out in front of him, claws digging into the earth as he waited on the other to make a move. Since he'd just hatched Baratheon would give him a chance to act first. It was only fair.

He'd never gotten to play fight before... He wondered what it would be like!

Well... he'd still be waiting a little while as the lamb's leap came up short. The creature stumbled over its paws and ended up in the dirt. Baratheon giggled at the funny sight but now, it was his turn! Baratheon wiggled his rear like a cat then pounced! He also came up short, or rather too far as he leaped and landed behind the dog-like creature with an "oof". Somehow he managed to get his nose-horn stuck in the dirt and spent a few seconds trying to dislodge himself before turning with a sheepish smile to the three-headed one. "Oopsie!" He laughed. "Again!" While they had both failed this play fighting thing still seemed really fun.

By the time the hound had figured out which end went where and managed to sit up, the dragon had leaped over him and get a nose full of dirt as well. Was the food mocking him? The hound growled softly, three sets of wildly different ears laying back on each head.

"Again?" With a snort, the large puppy went back down into a play bow. Food was strange-- the dragon had insisted he was not food, but the cerberus knew better-- but if it wanted to be eaten then so be it. Wiggling his narrow bottom, his broad shoulders tensed, eyes locking in on their target.

With a deep breath, the hound tried to pounce on the dragon once more, this time focusing more on the lunge then the whole snapping business. If he could pin the prey, he could easily eat it after, couldn't he? It made the most sense.

The puppy's hind food slipped this time, and he went sent fumbling down on one side. "OOF!" His paws were all clumsy! How was he supposed to eat this prey? It was a good thing the food wasn't running away. With a grumpy huff, the filthy white dog looked up at the long, furry lizard with imploring eyes.

"I'm hungry. Play is dumb. I'm not good at it." The middle head chomped on the other's ear, angry that he would dare imply that he himself was bad at anything. He was the best! "OW!" Snapping back at the middle head, the two began to fight among each other.

"Go in mouth and let me eat you, food." Suggested the far head-- the other two were now a growling mess, snapping at each other and being quite difficult. "That would be easier!"

RE: BLOODSOAKED SAND - Baratheon - Jun 25 2015

BARATHEON
"the world is mine for the taking"

At his suggestion the lamb again tried to pounce him. However, just like before it ended in failure. This time the lamb ended up tripping and falling onto its side in a mess. The dragon couldn't help but give a snicker at their misfortune. It was so funny to see them falling over each other like a newborn babe --nevermind the fact that they were newborn babes-- that he just couldn't keep it to himself. He had to release his laughter and so he did. The icing on the cake was when two of the heads started to argue amongst themselves. The argument reaching a full blown fight as they bit and snapped at each other.

Baratheon was interrupted from his laughter when the last head began to speak to him. His over-sized ears first pricked forward then pinned when he realized that he was again being mistaken as food. He. Was. Not. Food! The dragon stomped a foot in the dirt, not caring about the mess of mud clinging to his fur and getting in between his toes. He wanted to get it into this lamb's head that he wasn't to eat! He was a lamb! Not something for them to chew on! Play was not the same as eating! "Not food!" He yelled. This time he didn't really care if he broke his rule! He wanted to get it through their thick skulls that he wasn't to be eaten.

Why was this even making him so angry? It shouldn't but for some reason it bothered him. He didn't like to be thought of as something weak to eat. He wanted people to think he was strong! Strong enough to show this lamb that he wasn't to be eaten.

Baratheon's pink eyes narrowed and he made sure his ears were tucked away into his neck so he horns would be fully exposed. Food wouldn't attack, now would it? Well... He didn't really want to fight. He just wanted to show that he would fight back and that he was strong so therefore not food. After all, the bugs he ate didn't fight back and they were food.

He scraped one claw across the dirt before finally charging straight at the lamb, horns bared to give that thing a nice little jab and tackle!

"Are so," the orange-nosed face told the tiny dragon, snorting. He didn't like how the food laughed at him, and objected so loudly to being called food when he clearly was food. Of course, that was when the white noodle charged at him. Perhaps the food just didn't know what it was saying. It seemed happy to jump right into his mouth after all--

"HEY!" He yelped as tiny horns jammed into his nose, poking him quite fiercely. The hound reeled back, a paw reaching up to cover his nose. The arguing heads stopped fighting, for though the heads did not share thoughts they could feel and sense the other's pain-- all the nerves were connected.

The pair snarled at the dragon, snapping their teeth at him. The injured one nursed at his nose, whimpering. "Eat him!" He whined, licking at his paw. The other heads tried to jerk forward but he was pulling back, an awkward fumble of three brains trying to figure out how to handle their newborn body.

"Stop being baby!" he growled, tail lashing with frustration, claws digging into the earth. "Yeah, baby!" The sniveling head put his paw down and now the hound could try and snap at the dragon proper. The hound charged, teeth snapping, and perhaps this time he would get a taste of that fluffy white fur.

RE: BLOODSOAKED SAND - Baratheon - Jun 25 2015

BARATHEON
"the world is mine for the taking"

The small dragon felt satisfaction as he felt his horns jam into the other creature. Ha! That should show him that he wasn't food to be eaten. He especially wouldn't hop into anyone's mouth. The lamb reeled back away from him and Baratheon was content to sit down and call it a day. There! That had showed him, right? "Not food." He stated but with a smile. Now they could go back to their business of playing since he'd proved his point.

However, life was proving to not be so simple. After he jabbed the lamb with his horns it snarled at him in --understandable-- anger. This time they snarled that they would eat him! It seemed his little plan had backfired. The dragon shook his head. "No!" He yelled at the creature again because obviously he had proved nothing. The dragon's patience had worn thin and he was sorely tired of explaining over and over again how he wasn't food.

The lamb started to lunge at him but was having some difficulties so Baratheon used this time to crouch, readying himself for an attack. He was following instincts that he didn't know he had. Were these male lamb instincts? He didn't know but he was grateful for them when the lamb finally got its act together and lunged. He nimbly dodged to the side, sidling along to the white three-head's right side where he opened his mouth. A blast of energy launched out of his belly, up his throat, and out of his mouth at the creature. If it was a fight he wanted then it would be a fight he got!
