it's verbatim - Kera - Aug 11 2019

Vargas had certainly been something.

She was still trying to figure out if something was a good or a bad thing. She was at least confident that Vargas was trying to be helpful regarding whatever plan the Masters were formulating. Whatever jobs he was going to send Kera on were going to save lives.

... she hoped.

Kera had, it seemed, bitten off a lot more than she could chew, between a twenty-foot beast and a murderous goose looking for redemption. The wolf liked to consider herself something clever, but cleverness had very little to do with things when the lives of multiple gembound were on the line.

One thing at a time, she half-reminded herself. Vargas wanted a cat. So she would find him a cat.

She licked her muzzle as she paced around the Spire in a wide arc, half-meandering towards the river instead. The last small cats she'd seen had been at the Olympics, though she had only really interacted with one of them before. "Wilder?" She called out uncertainly.

Trying to find someone in an area that had been almost-abandoned for the last several cycles wasn't, perhaps, the best idea Kera ever had, but it was most definitely a start.

Fortunately for Kera, Wilder was, in fact, not that far away. After the little, uh, incident with Aure a few cycles back, Wilder had taken to staying in her old tunnel as of late. While it had been that long of a time without any major blackouts or slip-ups, she still hesitated to stay close to Bonebound all the time. And living close to the Spire, well, it definitely wasn't as bad as it used to be.

She was in her little cave now, pawing together all of the life stones she had and simply admiring them. She'd give life to them soon...some of them, at least. She wondered what it was like being a parent? It was a weird concept - she felt barely more then a kitten herself!

Outside of her thoughts, she heard the distant sound of a voice. Her ears perked and she listened closely. Were they calling her name? It wasn't really a voice she recognized, but she immediately jumped to her feet and scampered out of her little hideaway.

She pranced over towards where she'd heard the sound and quite quickly spotted a white coat. Nope, didn't quite recognize them yet. As she got closer, she recognized the form as a wolf and began to think about all the wolves she knew. There was a lot of them, none of them were white. Wait...there was a memory, from a while ago. The Olympics...and when giving life to Aether!

"Hello!" she called out as she approached. "Are you looking for me?" Once she'd arrived in front of the wolf, she started trying to remember her name. Karen? Kora? Karo? Cary? "Um, your name is Carrot, right?"

Who the fuck is Carrot? Kera wondered as Wilder approached, ears rotating back and forth for a few moments. Some gembound knew exactly who Kera was before she could even say a word to them-- turning on the lights was a big deal, of course --and she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed her story hadn't reached this far.

She licked her muzzle. "It's Kera," she corrected. "The Lightbringer. Vargas' Hand." Or was it meant to be the hand of Vargas, without variation? No time to take it back, anyway.

... more importantly, "Have you been here the entire time? Since the olympics?" She glanced around, but everything marking the competitions were long gone, now-- it'd been a good few cycles since the last olympics.

Why anyone wanted to stay for longer than necessary in Polaris was beyond her, even. This place sort of skeeved Kera out in recent cycles, with the crackling Spire, the river, and the ever-present golems.

"I was looking for you," she confirmed after a few beats. "Vargas wants to meet a cat."

Wilder's eyes bulged. "KERA!" she yowled. "That's it! I'm sorry, I knew it was something like that!" She smiled wide, a small purr rising in her throat, oblivious to the wolf's disappointment. Vargas's name also sparked some bit of memory in her and she remembered a giant purple monster emerging from Hydra and her own rollarcoaster feelings towards him. But she couldn't really remembered what she'd settled on in terms of opinion. So she automatically assumed that she'd liked the guy!

"Oh yeah!" she purred, "The Lightbringer! Yeah, yeah, I know about all that! With the storm and the lights and stuff. Cool! And Vargas's hand? I thought he already had hands! Or, uh, I guess he likes the name Overseer Vargas." She wondered why Kera wasn't calling him as such, although maybe it was a just a slip up for now.

She glanced around as well, wondering what Kera was looking for. Maybe she thought the Olympics were still going on, but that would be foolish. It'd been a while since the games had ended. "No, I usually live in Canis with my friends. But I've got a place here that I stay in too!" She gestured with her tail towards the direction of the cave she'd come out of.

She tilted her head with surprise. "Huh? Why does Vargas want to meet a cat? Is something happening? Does he just really like cats or something?"
