I don't listen to nobody but the masters - Zelarstrox - Feb 04 2020

The wolverine was hungry, she came into these caves knowing a lot of things. But the most tempting instinct she knew of was hunger. It was unavoidable. Wolverines had large insatiable appetites. The had jaws that had an unbelievable bite force with teeth that could crush and shatter bone. She walked, her nose keen on finding food. Her large paws made heavy contact with the floor with each step. Fearlessness was in her eyes as well. She may be young, but she knew that reality of these caves. A lot of predators hunted lesser gembounds to not be seen as murderers among their fellow gembounds. The truth was though, prey was prey, and predators were predators. There was nothing wrong with killing a gembound that was prey. If there was anything wrong with it, maybe those gembounds who thought it was wrong were simply weak.

As the young wolverine walked she noticed a anaconda slithering by. Well, snakes were a part of a wolverine's diet. She approached it from the right with the intent to kill. She stayed silent for a moment, thinking on when to make an attack.

Usingizi slithered through Pisces, quiet and cautious. She didn't wander much, being far from a capricious gembound. Her home was mostly between the few caves filled with water. It had been a long since Usi had seen any other gembound. Any that could speak, at least. The encounters with lessers were far more frequent, she saw fish and cave mice most every day. Her lack of encounters with other gembound wasn't help that her field of vision was constantly halved, her right eye little more than a void with nerves jammed into it than anything else. It was then that Usi realized something seemed off. Pisces was so quiet, save for the sound of running water. A sense of unease slipped into the snake, and she froze, hoping that whatever caused her discomfort would quickly pass her by.

Zelarstrox was as silent as ever. She was going to go for the snakes head, but in a single stride she made noise with a rock she had accidentally kicked over. Oh well, back to square one. She froze up and stood completely still. She could tell the anaconda was blind on its right side. The promise of meat was there. She was ready to sink her fangs into the snake, but now she hoped that it was not aware. IT probably was though, considering she made noise accidentally with a rock.

Usingizi heard a rock fall. From her right side. Something was there, something she couldn't see. Panic was beginning to settle in the snake. Usingizi forced herself to stay rational. She just had to see it. It wouldn't be scary once she saw it. Slowly, to avoid startling herself or the creature which had kicked the rock, she turned her head. It was a...she wasn't quite sure. It wasn't as large as her, though it was still sizable. It seemed to be some young orange thing. But it made her nervous. It had approached from her blind spot. The well of panic within Usingizi began to fill once more.

"O-oh. Hello? You scared me for a moment," She chuckled breathily. She was embarrassed to admit that she had been scared of them. Though even now her body was tight with the fear from earlier. She touched the gemstone in her mouth with her tongue. Usingizi began to coil her long body. She flicked her tongue out, to see if she could recognize it's scent from anywhere, though the air was thick with the taste of wet rock and salt. She couldn't quite pin it down. "Is there... something you want?"

The young predator was a novice at hunting to say the least. The young wolverine still couldn't see an opening, so it wasn't the time to strike yet, so she held back. It seemed this meal was persistent. With the way it coiled, the kid saw that she perhaps missed her chance. But nevertheless she did not give up. What would that say for her as a predator. Well, being silent was out of the question. The child gave a friendly wag of her tail, looking harmless and more like a wet puppy. "Oh, I'm sorry. Didn't mean to scare you. You just looked weird and I wanted to see what you were. The name's Nynto. Who are you?" There was no need to give her real name. He wouldn't be alive to hear it.

Nynto wagged it's tail, putting Usingizi at ease. It was just a kid. That made her feel better. Her coils relaxed, and she stuck her head further in the direction of the wolverine, trying to scent her new friend. She only knew Phleg, really, so she was happy to know another gembound. "Oh, thats fine." She said. They seemed pretty friendly by Kalama's standards. "I'm Usingizi, Nynto. My friends--friend," she corrected herself, "call me Usi."

"I look...weird? She swung her head back to look at herself with her good eye. She looked the same as she always had. Just bigger now, she thought. Usingizi supposed Nynto was a child, and to her she must've looked weird. Ah, and one of her eyes didn't work. She often forgot about it, until it served to inconvenience her in some way. That may have had something to do with Nynto thinking that she looked odd. She touched her gemstone.

"Yes, I guess that I do. I can't seen in my right eye so it must be kind of strange to you." She laughed softly, a small nervous thing. "I've always been like this."

Zelarstrox decided to put on a nice act. "Nice to meet you Usingizi. You know, you don't look weird, but actually very cool." She walked closer to the anaconda, sniffing its head kindly. Then out of nowhere, She slammed down her jaws on the snakes head, exerting her full bite force, attempting to crush the anaconda's head. Her eyes turned savage. Her first hunt, and was she proud of it. She knew a wolverine's bite force was powerful. She was going to use it for her advantage.
