Pockets of light shined down on the viridian forest bed below. They danced over the ferns as the canopy swayed gently above. Eridanus was live with the ever present ambience of chirping insects. For a long time, they had been the Aventurine's lullaby, now they sang to wake her.

Hidden beneath the golden speckled ferns, a green chrysalis began to open up. A crack split across and cleaved off its side. The aventurine wall fell away, and revealed a small, black simian cradled with in the crystal womb. Stirring, the infant hugged herself, feeling the air on her skin for the first time. She did not want to wake just yet, but light dancing across her eyelids made it difficult not to. The little ape's jaws split open in a wide, pink yawn, squeaking as she stretched out an arm. Baby green eyes fluttered open and smiled at the world.
