Spunky Spots Move Quick - Aristotle - Jun 04 2020 Ari
Broad paws carried the young lion through the ruins of what was the main area of Orion. He had left his precious gem in his home. It was snack time, and he was still quite sure that James would not want to see him eat. They seemed to have far different tastes in what was food. After having that vine in his mouth Aristotle had decided that he was never going to do that again, and he certainly wasn’t was not going to try that stuff that grew out of the ground he called grass. Aristotle trotted down what would have at one point been a main thoroughfare for what was once a city. Where once was cobbled stone streets now there was only dirt. Aristotle pulled his mind back to the task at hand as his stomach gurgled in protest of his distracted thoughts. Aristotle sniffed quietly checking to see if he could catch the scent of any nearby prey. His eyes roved over the ground for the smallest hint that prey had passed by here. Unfortunately he could hear their shrill calls echoing close by, but it seemed a snack was not in the cards for him. The jungle mice that he so much adored munching on as an easy snack were going to elude him today. There were no fresh scents to be found, only the old scent of the cave rabbit he had found and eaten the day before. Now that had been a wondrous meal. So yummy. He couldn't help but wonder if any had listened to his markings on his home, with that thought worry began to creep up on the young lion. Would someone try and steal his pretty? He was sure James wouldn't let that happen, but had James been home when he left? Giving a soft annoyed growl the young lion turned around and headed back down the main street the way he had come following his own scent home at slow walk. Maybe on his way he could find a mouse, if he were lucky. @Morpho RE: Spunky Spots Move Quick - Morpho - Jun 06 2020
Morpho had found a nice shady spot, half hidden by rumbling, ancient walls. He had yet to catch anything, or find anything of interest from his, but still he stood, watching. He was a praying mantis after all, an ambush predator. Perhaps this method of hunting would've been more effective in a forest than in the stone ruins of Orion, but Morpho knew soon enough he'd catch something. A flicker of movement further down the street. He tense, tracking the creature carefully as it came into better view. A small, fuzzy thing. He stepped out from his hiding spot, into view, staring down at Aristotle. He didn't have any real facial expressions, but the way his head was tilted to the side conveyed curiosity. "Hello." He greeting, as friendly and nonthreatening a giant insect could be. "..What are you?" He added, not being rude but rather just genuinely curious and mildly confused. tags: @Aristotle coding by wulf for template purposes

The young lion wandered down the main street of Orion proper, not really paying attention to where he was going as he had his nose to the ground searching for any recent scents. However Aristotle was soon shocked out of his one tracked mindset . A set of strange feet appeared in his view. The young lion with the wisp of a latte colored mane, looked up at a creature far larger than he ever would be. Brilliant baby blue eyes followed the legs up to an insectoid body, where forelimbs should have been he saw strange scythe like claws. Then to the head which was tilted at him curiously, which in turn was answered with its own curious head tilt. Wonder filled the youngsters blue eyes as a bright smile spread across the young ones muzzle. Rounded audits that were nearly too big for his head perked to catch what the much taller creature spoke in greeting. @Morpho RE: Spunky Spots Move Quick - Morpho - Jun 07 2020
"...Lion" He echoed the new word, his head tilting toward slightly to examine the 'lion' more closely. "I am.. an insect." He paused for a moment, "..Praying mantis" He added, somewhat belatedly. He watched the creature settle down and did so as well, doing what could generously be consider 'sitting' as he cleared a foreclaw. "I am Morpho." He replied, "Nice to meet you.. Aristotle." This lion's name was certainly a mouthful. Morpho hadn't encountered a creature with such a lengthy name before, and he wasn't sure how he felt about it. He watched the lion, is antenna twitching with curiosity. His social interactions had been fairly limited, considering he rarely sought them out. He stayed to himself for the most part, and he had yet to stray very far from Orion yet. He did like talking to others, when he stumbled upon them, however. Just to learn more about them, mostly. "What were you doing?" He asked, "You had your face on the ground." He mimicked the posture the lion had been walking in, awkwardly bending his head towards the ground, nearly toppling over in the process, before lifting his head back up. "How do you see? Like that? Wouldn't it all be dirt?" Being a praying mantis with a limited sense of smell, 'scenting' was unheard of to him. Not to mention he still didn't quite get the idea of a 'nose' compared to how his antenna worked. tags: @Aristotle coding by wulf for template purposes

The young man nodded the wisp of mane flopping in his face. The creature explained what he was and the young lion tilted his head to the other side in thought. A praying mantis, he couldn’t help but wonder if all his kind were the same as it was. He was having trouble figuring out gender for the creature as it had no physical tells as to what it was. Not that he was sure he would know what they were either way. James had been easy. Finally the creature introduced itself and he let out a bright smile. As Morpho’s antenna started twitching Aristotle looked up at them watching them for a moment. Then Morpho asked what he had been doing, and mimicked what he had been doing. @Morpho RE: Spunky Spots Move Quick - Morpho - Jun 22 2020
Morpho nodded, though it was more out of politeness than understanding. At the little lion's comment about his looks, he turned his head to examine his brown and green carapace. Like an old tree's bark, covered in moss and lichen. "I suppose." He replied "Where wouldn't I stand out?" This question was genuine, though it easily could've been taken as sarcasm. Morpho hadn't explored far beyond Orion. Definitely not far enough to encounter Eridanus or Cetus, or any other cave he'd fit in better. It didn't bother him much, yet, except for the frustration of hunting. Being an ambush hunter didn't quite work unless you were hidden by your surroundings. He'd nod, "Sharp Blade. Good for catching prey. It was safe to say Morpho was just as fascinated by Aristotle as Aristotle was with him. When Aristotle reached up a paw to touch one of his claws, Morpho let him, using his other claw to gently pat the cub's head and growing mane. He quickly withdrew his claw, holding both close to his body as he looked down at the lion cub. "Thanks.. Ari. Morpho definitely proffered this version of his name to the longer one. Much easier to say. "...Hunting Though hunting itself was very familiar to Morpho, this way of doing it was not. How could you catch anything just walking in the open? Wouldn't you be seen far before you could catch anything? "Not a lot of prey around here." He'd nod in agreement. He'd listen as the cub continued, taking much interest in the last statement, for it seemed to answer his last question. "I was hatched here. It is my home." He answered, followed quickly by a curious. "Where is it?" coding by wulf for template purposes

Aristotle smiled lightly up at Morpho as he inspected himself. He was a handsome creature or at least Aristotle thought he was. He was the color of nature where he was born, and he had a deep love for the area of the caves he had been born in. The young lion grinned leaning in closer to check out the Mantis’ blades. The young lion nodded and smiled understanding staying where you were hatched. The only reason he had left Eridanus was because James had encouraged him to come here and make a home. @Morpho RE: Spunky Spots Move Quick - Morpho - Jun 29 2020
Morpho listened as Aristotle described the cave he had hatched in, 'Eridanus.' His antenna twitched curiously, wanting to check out the cave the lion cub described as so beautiful. "Your birthplace sounds beautiful." When the lion called himself handsome, he was surprised and a little confused. He just didn't really dwell on his physical appearance that much. He had strong claws and good eyes. He could easily catch prey, (well, somewhat easily.) so it was good enough for him. He did appreciate the comment though. "Thank you." He said simply. Morpho was relatively quiet as the lion continued to speak, listening politely as he quickly cleaned one of his claws. When Aristotle described how to get to Eridanus, Morpho listened carefully, before lifting his head to look at his surroundings. "Really?" he asked, "Can we look for it now? He asked, quickly followed by a "Unless you're busy." coding by wulf for template purposes

Aristotle smiled as he spoke of his birthplace. He loved it dearly, but his home was here in Orion with his best friend and Abraxas. He wouldn’t move back unless he found no reason to stay here. Besides he had already started his garden here and had put in the effort to clean up his home after all, why leave it now after all that? The young lion beamed up at Morpho as he thanked him for the compliment. The young lion didn’t mind being a guide, he had been exploring Orion and was rather familiar with the layout now, so getting to the tunnel leading to Eridanus wouldn’t be much trouble at all. The young lion moved at slow trot so the much larger creature could walk at a normal pace. In fact he had a bit of energy to burn so why not go for a little jog? @Morpho RE: Spunky Spots Move Quick - Morpho - Jul 07 2020 The lion cub certainly seemed to think 'Eridanus' was a great place, and having little else to compare his statements to, he opted to agree. "It sounds wonderful. I'm sure I will." He replied with a nod. Ari certainly seemed to be polite and friendly, though Morpho had just met him. Morpho would've smiled back, if he had a mouth capable of doing anything close to smiling. But it was clear from his body language that the insect was rather happy. He watched as Aristotle began trotting down the tunnel, towards the cave he'd told him so much about. "Thank You." He said, beginning to follow the lion. Morpho moved somewhat slow for such a big creature. Careful, somewhat wobbly strides typical of a praying mantis that made him look like a tree in a raging windstorm. He did easily keep up with the lion cub, however. He'd walk in relative silence, unless the lion chose to spoke. coding by wulf for template purposes
