doing nothing much - Gaul - Jun 15 2020

Gaul yawned.

That had been a nice nap, laying in the shade of a tree. The Spire wasn't far away, so even as they slept they could bask in the buzz of its magic.

Water burbled nearby, and for a moment they contemplated going fishing. But that would require leaping around, and still they were groggy, and so they reached for their magic, following the tug of a gemstone to a little Windhopper nearby.

It wasn't much, but it was food. So they moved to stand, but the windhopper must have heard them, as it sat bolt upright, eyes widening in alarm, and began to bound away--Gaul was too big to be fast or agile, and so they reached for their magic again, the ground beginning to rattle and shake, throwing the windhopper off its paws and onto its side.

The gaurbear sighed, moving to stand, only for their eyes to widen in exasperation as the windhopper managed to scramble to its paws. Before it could bolt away, Gaul pressed their golden hoof to the ground, feeling for sand, and threw it up into the air, watching grimly as it began to whip around, tearing into the windhopper until it bled and collapsed to the ground.

Gaul plodded over and, without a moment's pause, crushed the windhopper's head beneath a sizeable paw.

The gaurbear twitched their ears, listening as they began to feast with sharp teeth--they'd learned young that, despite being bulky and sizable, they also apparently looked quite tasty, and when they ate the scent of blood tended to draw carnivorous Lessers.

But they sensed nothing--well, not nothing. There were birds flitting around overhead, various Greaters and Lessers, from what they assumed, but nothing that seemed dangerous.

With a yawn, they finished their meal, and shoved it aside. They brought their bear-like forepaws up and began to lick them clean, not wanting to leave a bloody trail, before turning and beginning to plod away, seeking another nice spot to sit and watch the Lessers.

That was their favorite hobby. Laying around and watching Lessers, birds twittering overhead and bugs going about their lives, bunnies hopping around. They pressed their hoof to the ground and looked around, seeking a gathering of gemstones.
