Life's Accomplice: Rebirth - Gigatsuhali - Jun 28 2020

A stir, followed by a blink of a thought, Forty-one.

Had it really been so long? The feeling of an exhale built in the muscles of her chest; it was the dawning of a realization when she understood so suddenly why that would not be possible. It caused her to twist inside the claustrophobia-inducing space, scraping her beak tip across the inside until it caught. The crack reverberated through the wetness that cushioned her within, just before she found her head spilled out onto the ground.

A wheezing gasp took her by surprise, the long rest leading to some confusion about her present situation. Shortly after What the hell...? passed through her mind, she broke herself the rest of the way free from her chrysalis, waddling to a perch of a boulder so she could preen her soaked feather. Somehow, despite her diet of carrion, Yinehi found the slime leaving a lot to be desired. It left her wondering if perhaps it would of been wiser to just find a pool of water first, but the thought failed to get her moving from her drive to simply be free of it.

Hours ticked by and, in time, she was dry, gazing at the ceiling like it was the first time all over again.

"I can't believe... I slept for 41 cycles..."

RE: Life's Accomplice: Rebirth - Gigatsuhali - Jun 29 2020

Time was such a concept. How easily it was passed and how much it felt like only a moment. Giga grunted a little as she spread her wings and heaved off the rock. Flight wasn't always a hugely easy task; the air just didn't catch the wings right, for such a large avian. This was one of the better ones, though, and she supposed maybe it had something to do with it's abundance of tunnels.

Her wings felt stiff, but each downward stroke was easier than the last. I just need to get my blood really flowing, again, she mused. With a keen eye, she observed the world around and below her. Traces of life existed everywhere, new and old. How the world operated now though? She wondered. What conflicted existed now? Whose anger caused cruelty in this era of the cave system?

All thought was abruptly interrupted by a loud growl, accompanied by the twist of a hungry gut that hadn't felt real food in a rather long time. Realistically, Hunger could get her by, but... something solid seemed much more appealing. It wouldn't be easy, especially being so out of practice, but perhaps she would be able to locate the bacteria of a carcass?

Gigatsuhali landed on a ledge not far from the cave wall, close to Tunnel I's entrance. A final glance was taken of her surroundings, then she closed her eyes, inhaling deeply... but as time trudged on she could find nothing nearby. Feeling defeated, she adjusted her feet and hunkered down into her perch, sighing. What direction now?

Hours has passed when Giga jerked awake, blinking into the dimness of the cave. You'd think there'd of been no reason for rest after hibernating, but for some reason she just felt so fatigued. Apparently enough to have fallen asleep on her perch. Maybe it was the hunger, as it sat in the pit of her stomach, gnawing at the back of her mind.

With a huff, Yinehi spread her wings and stepped off the rock she was on. She headed for the cliffs, wondering if other Gembounds - or food - could maybe be found there. The scenery changed as she approached the city, taking no time to land on an overlooking ledge. She gawked at the buildings that never failed to puzzle her. Unusual shapes that could hide or shelter lost gems. Normally she'd spend time musing about where they came from, but there was priorities to address, first.

Eyes closed. Concentrate. AHAH! Her eyes shot open and she looked around, inhaling deeply hoping for some kind of stench. She was able to sense something like food nearby, but it was so faint she couldn't tell where it was coming from. Inside the crumbling city, perhaps?

Gigatsuhali dropped to the ground and slowly crept around buildings, peeking around corners and into doorways for the source of what she knew was sure to be here. Hopefully with enough left to eat.
