and the sands were light again - Jasiri - Aug 10 2020

The lion stalked.

He twitched, ears twitching, eyes darting this way and that.

Would the darkness come back? The cold, the chill crawling for his bones?

But you couldn't live your life in maybes, in woulds or coulds or cans. Life is survival, is hunting and sleeping and drinking and doing it all over again.

So he slunk, breathed carefully as he neared the bone hare, and lunged forward, attempted to start the chase.

Nothing, at least, interrupted Jasiri's chase. Not for now.

So long as he did not do something foolish--like plunge head-first off a cliff in his pursuit--he was so far safe, escaping notice of the other denizens of Hydra.
