Dye-ing - Skeena - Aug 15 2020

Mother's Caller shed a lot.

Skeena was low on dye - she used it to mark down the history of the bones, you see - and so she went out to see if she could find any feathers the Caller had dropped. She could ask Mother, perhaps, but it had been ages since she had seen Mother and what, would she just walk up to Mother and say 'Hello Mother, nice to see you again. Can I pluck your bird?'

No, no thank you.

So she bounded through the bones - even if it wasn't Mother's Caller, many Callers made Canis their home, and many black birds besides. Some, she thought, were newer members of the Bonebound she'd yet to meet, so surely they wouldn't mind if she just... borrowed a feather or two?

After all, it would be used for the greater good.

And, oh! a feather!

The hybrid perked her ears, bounding forward. Definitely not a Mother-Caller feather, it was too large for that, probably a vulture or something similar, but it was large and nice and black, and so she grabbed it in her teeth, grimacing at the feel of down coming off on her tongue. It wasn't a very nice feather, missing tufts of strands, but so long as there were some she could make it into dye.

Besides, some of her paintings were fading, so even just a horrible feather that would make an awful dye would work - she needed even a temporary fix.
