What would you do if there was a child right in front of you? - Deli - Sep 01 2020

Thread is rated M for a lot of cursing down the line.

Deli
Deli hadn't been this excited in a long, long time. Why had they held onto their pride for so long, why had they insisted on doing things themselves...when the Collector held all the answers all this time? They grinned to themselves as they sketched onto a rock with their chunk - let go of their feelings through art, this time of excitement - broad lines, featuring them and many other shapes bursting from their chest. Other creatures, other gembound that they knew - to transform into any of them, just from a touch...

Oh, that was a beautiful thought.

They giggled to themselves as they continued to sketch on the stone as they thought and planned out their entire adventure. Ah...this was going to be so much fun.

Comet walked out of the tunnel where she had passed Emuh's test, and stumbled along through Polaris. She was still a bit disoriented from the experience, so when she first saw Deli sketching something on a rock, she thought she was just being crazy. But when she shook her head, and they were still there, she knew that she was not imagining them.

"Hello?" the wolf pup walked up to them "What are you doing?" she asked with a curious tone.

Deli
An ear flicked up at the sound of a voice and they glanced behind them, their paw pausing in the middle of scratching marks onto the rock before them. A grin split their face wide at the wide of a gembound. And a white gembound. Oh there were a lot of pranks they could play on them! They snickered to themselves and turned themselves around.

"Well hello there," they barked merrily. "I'm sketching, what does it look like? You know, drawing things!" They gestured towards the rock, holding up the graphite chunk in their hand. They quickly made a small mark on the stone (a mark they had intended to put on at some point) to demonstrate. In their head, however, the gears were whirling. How could they have some fun here?

"Ooh, that looks cool!" Comet assumed their grin meant that they were happy to see her there. Something that did not happen often; most animals she had met usually ran away. She walked closer and looked at the stone, trying to decipher the marks. Despite trying to figure it out, she did not know what they had drawn on the rock, so she didn't say anything about that.

"I'll watch you. It looks really good!" she plopped down on the ground and watched. Comet saw that they were thinking about something while the sketched, probably because drawing required lots of concentration.

Deli
Smile widened at both the compliment and the intention to watch. "Oh will you now?" They snickered and discreetly moved their bag closer to their body as they turned back around to the sketch. "Okay. Just don't go go bothering me!"

They leaned back, one of their hands sitting in their lap as they began to sketch again. Every so often, they glanced in the corner of their eye to make sure Comet was still watching. If her eyes were focused on their moving hand, then they'd ever so slowly begin to reach into their bag. With delicate, slow movements, careful not to let Comet see, they opened the top of their back and carefully pulled out a random bottle. All the while, they continued to sketch, grinning widely at their art as they made the image of themselves clearer on the stone. "See," they chattered to keep Comet more distracted. "It's me! But taking on the shape of others! I think it would be real fun, right? To be able to look like someone else?" They snickered. "With art you can do anything!"

"I won't bother you!" Comet's tongue lolled out as she watched them sketch. Her eyes focused only on their moving hand, and she took no notice of their other hand which they used to reach into the bag. Eventually, the image came into focus. It was a picture of them! But being able to look like someone else. With art you really could do anything! "Yeah that looks really good!" The whole time, never noticing the bottle in their hand. After all, she did not have any reason to not trust him.

Deli
Their grin widened, ever so slightly, when Comet gave no indication that she'd seen them pull the bottle out of their bag. With a careful hand, they uncorked the bottle, letting the cork fall quietly into their back and clutched it tight. For just a moment, they paused their drawing, as if considering, before they suddenly turned themselves around towards the wolf, bringing up their hidden hand, and throwing the paint right at her face. It was a bottle of red dye - so absolutely perfect!

Whether it splattered over Comet or she moved out of the way, Deli barked out a laugh, throwing their head back and howling. "Ahahaha I gotcha! You didn't even notice did you, ahahahaa!"

The movement was so sudden that Comet had no time to react. The red paint splattered all over her face and blinded her eyes. "Ahhh!" She was thinking about how maybe they did it on accident, but when they started laughing, she knew that it was on purpose.

Comet had no idea why they would do that. She was just here, enjoying their drawing, and then they decide to splatter paint over her?! But she couldn't take any other action right now, she had to wash out her fur first. The water washed the red dye out of her face, and she wanted to smack that grin right off their face. "Why did you do that?" she said calmly. Maybe there was a reason for it.

Deli
They only laughed harder when they opened their eyes to see the wolf's head drenched in red paint. They howled, holding their stomach as they completely lost it. "Oh...oh that was so funny! You should have seen your face!" They wheezed, bending over as they rode out their fit of laughter, feeling wetness gathering at the corner of their eyes.

Once they began to calm down a bit, they wiped the tears out of their eyes, breathing heavy, a giggle every so often escaping their jaws. "Oh, man, that was good! I haven't done that in a while ahaha." They snickered. They were a little disappointed she could wash it out so esaily but, eh. At least they got the shock in! "Why? Why not?! Because it was funny! You were just sittin there!" They let another another chortle, not offering any other explanation then "because I could."

Their laughing was really starting to bother her. And then there was the fact that they did it-- just because they could? There wasn't any reason for it, just for their own amusement. Comet had already given them two chances already to have a good reason for explaining it, but as they didn't, she would have to take more offensive measures.

There was knowledge of a new spell she had learned-- one from her transcendence trail. What would happen if she used it on them? Well, it would be interesting to find out, and they deserved it anyway. She put her energy into it, and she saw the water coming from their body pooling around her feet.
