Comet was on another one of her many expeditions to make some new dyes. Not for herself, it was to help Kaimana prepare for when their stone will hatch. She knew that berries and feathers were suitable for the dye, and both were equally easy, and hard, to find. So off she went into the center of Eridanus.

First things first, she needed to decide what color of dye she wanted. Perhaps white? It was always good to have a nice empty color. So... white feathers would do the trick!

Seeing as there were no white birds around-- albino birds were rare-- Comet had to settle for collecting some white berries. Oh well, berries didn't need to be hunted down, so that was the easy part. She looked around through the thick undergrowth in search of the berries.

Looking up, she spotted the cluster of white berries, dangling from a branch right above her head. It was just out of her reach, but she had other ideas on how to get it. Storing the power in her chest, she pushed with all her might, and the jet of water blasted the berries off the branch.

EARNED: White berries

This was working out well, very well. Now that she had her white berries, for white dye, she ran through the rainbow colored list in her head. Green! The random color popped into her head. Green berries it was. She could try and catch green birds to get their feathers too, but they blended into the greenery too well. Not to say that green berries didn't blend in well too, but she didn't have to keep her eyes on them and try to hunt them down.

There! Hanging on a branch was a cluster of berries-- green this time. Why did all the berries that she wanted have to be so high up? If she were fully grown it would've been no problem, but she wasn't-- which made this all a lot harder than it needed to be. Oh well, it was a good thing she had magic.

This fountain hit the berry too, it seemed her accuracy was increasing the more she practiced. She caught the berries cleanly in her mouth, and set it next to her white berries.

EARNED: Green Berries

What color should she get next? Hmm, grey sounded nice. The past two times she had gotten berries, so this time she would try and get a grey bird. A snack would be nice. It was a good thing that grey didn't blend too well into the forest, so it wouldn't be too hard to spot. It was just a matter of catching one.

Oh! Her eye caught the sight of something grey in a tree trunk nearby. There would be no escape for the bird. Jumping up, she tried to snatch it straight out of the tree, but then realized that it was actually a rock. In an attempt to stop herself from jumping, she crashed awkwardly headfirst into the tree. Great. And with a loud Thunk! The rock fell right out of the tree and onto her head. Ouch, that hurt.

Her head still throbbing, Comet continued looking for a grey bird. What was the chance that it would turn out to be a rock? Her eyes scanned the treetops, continuing to look for a sign of a grey bird. She wouldn't be tricked so easily by a rock this time.

The trees were empty, with no signs of a grey bird. Oh well, her whole blasting berries off branches thing must've scared them all away. She should go somewhere else.

With quiet paws, Comet trotted through the forest, berries in her mouth. Hopefully she would be far enough away that the birds will not have heard the ruckus caused before. The birds chirping in the treetops seemed not to have noticed the wolf below them.

Scanning the treetops, Comet picked out a grey bird that stood out among the others. There was nothing too special about this grey bird that she chose, it was just the easiest to hit. The narrow jet of water hit the bird cleanly in the head, instantly killing it.

Running over, she inspected the bird. Good, the water had not damaged the feathers. If she had to hunt it down without magic, its feathers would've been broken and covered with blood. Comet used her claws to pick off the feathers, and ate the rest of the bird.

EARNED: Grey Feather

The dye ingredient hunting expedition was going very well. Comet was quite satisfied with all the berries and feathers she had at the moment, but she was still determined to get every color. Having most of a set was not enough. You had to have the complete set.

Her eyes scanned the area, and caught sight of an orange berry buried deep in a bush. There was no telling what else was in the bush, and it could be potentially dangerous. She thought over her options.
