LETTING IT OUT - Zoey - Sep 08 2020 Content Warning This post contains potentially sensitive material: death V-Zoisite-One, the charge of Vargas, the first of the Zoisite in this clutch, was growing. Already, only cresting its second cycle, the grub was beginning to form a harder exoskeleton. Its length had increased exponentially, and now it was easily over six feet in length. Its mind, and personality, was also growing. Though, outwardly, they had become much more reserved. The Zoisite shied away from the others as the rest of the clutch grew more wild, learning to keep their distance so they didn't inadvertently snap their pincers or prick anyone with their quills. They stood on sidelines and watched, expressionless. Overseer Orthoclase-Alpha had recently brought fresh kills to the warren, though most of them were perfectly capable of hunting at this point. Zoisite did not protest, though they waited for everyone else to grab their fill before they scurried up-- some of the others could be a bit... Zoisite didn't like it when their food was still warm, anyway. When they could feel the heat of life draining away on their tongue. Better stiff, and cold, where the hot blood wouldn't dribble through their jaws. They shuffled, pulling their lanky limbs under their long, serpentine body, and curled their talons about their legs. Glowing, neon lemon nostrils flared with each breath, tasting the smell of A small, ocherous ball of light formed on the flood beside them, and they idly moved it sweeping from one side of their face along the dirt floor, to the other. It pulsed with each, passing wordless tug on its heavy chest. Perhaps millimeters were permitted; perhaps uncertainly could pass, as long as it was physical. Mental doubt... Khavur may not be developing in body, but in brain it was hastily enabled. In its mind, doubt was permitted existence if only to strengthen conviction via... correction. Via test, discovery, revelation— rinse and REPEA— no. Khavur, an other, caught sight of a bobbling light bouncing around its grub sibling. The Reaver grew curious. It was always curious of one thing or another; it couldn't recall a time where it wasn't curious of its siblings. So small, and yet they grew. Could they comprehend its situation? To wake up one day, a tall oak with a hungry mind, instead of the squat nugget you started as. Such a growthspurt -- did that even make sense to them? This grub, and the light that danced around it. This grub would reach the height of Khavur's shoulder if it stood upright perfectly. In terms of length, it was only about a fourth of Khavur's. How was the world from all the way down there...? Khavur's magic reached out, curious threads of anima rippling and testing the waters for signs of life. Exterior life. Life outside of Khavur's two bony shells known as 'heads'. It was faint, the magic. Therefore it was faint, the feeling that came reeling back. Khavur approached -- didn't get too close. Refused to look at the food the zoisite possessed -- it made @V-Zoisite-One |
