Secrets of the Stones - Comet - Sep 10 2020

Comet headed through Polaris with a little spring in her step. She pushed the sled of stones in front of her, making sure it didn't tip or break. Not like that would've been a big problem if it broke, she could freeze up another one! The pup couldn't wait to show her family all the stones that she had found! And maybe she could give some away to her friends too.

The sled jiggled happily along the path, with the stones rattling inside. It was a rather cute sight, a white wolf pup with her small ice sled full of colorful minerals.

Standing knee-deep in the snow with one leg still in a chrysalis, there was one thought on Azizos's mind: it's cold.

His antlers sliced through the air as he twisted to stare at the Spire. It loomed over him. Silvery eyes blinked once, then widened slowly at the phantom sensation of magicka lashing through him - being ripped from him. A golem tall as the Spire itself collapsing back into it, the room shifting. Soot and smoke in the air -

The lion-stag blew a puff of mist out his nose, and dashed away from his glimmering chrysalis. Hesitant as he was to cast, though, his magic worked idly to melt the snow around him and bring it into a steam. Anything to warm himself up. It was lukewarm to anyone else, but it was so pleasant to him.

Azizos's hooves carried him towards a white figure, blending in with the snow, and before he could cut off his cast - the snow-melting magic had eaten through a part of the icy sled. It melted into just water, but it was enough destruction. He skidded to a halt, ears pricking far forward and eyes blowing wide: "o-oh, I'm sorry for that." That's a lot of stones ---

"I can fix it if you need me to, just --- ah," he shook himself out, "let me get a hold of myself." His mane was still wet with chrysalis-fluid, and he kind of smelled like a newborn baby.

Comet had been so busy focusing on pushing her sled, that she had not noticed the other animal approaching her until they melted part of her sled. She looked up at him, ocean blue eyes trying to define what kind of animal he was. He sort of looked like a deer, but not really.

"Oh no, it's okay." The pup smiled at him. As long as they apologized, she wouldn't hold anything against them. Her nose picked up the scent of what someone smells like when they are freshly emerged from a chrysalis. But he looked grown up. Perhaps hibernation? There were some animals who did that.

"I can fix it." The melted part of the sled was frozen back in place, and she even added a little harness that could be used to pull it. "Oh um, I'm Comet. And you are?" she remembered her manners.

Azizos smiled a bit at that and relaxed, like a weight'd been taken off his shoulders. He'd hate for some kid to think he was some being of pure, dastardly evil. Caves, where's mine. How long've I been asleep for, he thought with no small amount of shuffling and jittering. The lion-stag bleated, "aw, okay."

His ears cupped forward, but a bit more calmly this time, if only to watch the pup effortlessly put the sled back together. "Oh, you're more attuned to ice?" he said at the same time as she introduced herself, "ah, sorry again." Azizos shook himself. "Comet, right?" He blinked, dancing hoof-to-hoof and moving to a patch of bare (but still cold) ground.

The kirin paused just long enough to give a bow of silvery antlers, "my name's Azizos." His gaze flicked curiously to the sled full of stones, but he'd already asked one question. No need to overwhelm Comet with more.

"Azizos." she repeated. It was both soft and sharp at the same time, a peculiar name. But a good one. "It's okay. Yes, Comet." she noticed he was not accustomed to this cold ground. Her own paws had fur in between which kept them warm. It was quite unfortunate that none of her spells could help warm them up.

"Well, water actually. That is the only ice spell I know." she answered. Comet guessed that the deer hybrid was probably a fire or energy magic user, since they were able to melt things. She didn't ask though, as she caught their gaze flicking over to the stones in her sled.

"I got these stones from casting a magic sensing spell! I really like this one, it looks like candy." She motioned at the one that was green and had many points all over it.

He'd get over the cold eventually. It was nice to have conversation to take his mind off of it, even as his flanks twitched to and fro.

Azizos simply bowed his head, tilting it just a bit. "I see, I see," he bleated, "I know a dragon that's skilled in ice magic. He breathes it and wills it into whatever shape he desires. My father says that he performed and won in the Olympics this year." He blinked, completely sidetracked.

... right. "Ah, they have magic in them, yet? Perhaps one will spawn a chrysalis?" Left alone on the ground, any of them could in time. The lion-stag knew as much. "... or, ah, do you have plans for them?" Comet looked... awfully small, and sounded rather juvenile. There was no latent life in a stone, but - it felt a little odd.

That, and the subject of his next question: "what's... cans-dee?" Azizos stared in doe-eyed confusion. He'd heard many things in the caves, but nothing... like that.

A dragon that was skilled in ice magic? That sounded so cool! She should totally try and go meet him sometime, although she wasn't sure how that would happen, or how the dragon would be like. She pushed that thought into the back of her mind so she could continue to focus on the current conversation.

"Yeah! I used my magic sensing spell and these have magic." The part about the chrysalis was interesting though. What animals could emerge from these stones? Was there a way to find out? But she wasn't planning on keeping most of them anyway, they would be given out to her friends to keep. "I'm going to give them to my friends as gifts."

Oh, Comet hadn't realized that 'candy' wasn't a word that was used often. "Oh, it's a thing that you can make by getting sugar and putting it on something to make it yummy!" She looked around, as if planning to make one right now, but there were no plants in Polaris really, at least not ones with good berries.

Looking over her rocks, the pup thought about if she should give one to him, but that meant there would not be enough for her friends. Not that he wasn't nice or anything, but she had only just met him.

She thought over their conversation so far and remembered, how were chrysalises formed? How would one turn a rock into a chrysalis? "How do you make a chrysalis?"
