Homeward Bound - Eli - Sep 13 2020

ELI
I CAN GO THE DISTANCE

It had been cycles since Raheerah brought fire and destruction upon Orion. His wrath had burnt an ugly, black scar in the minds of the gembounds who were unlucky enough to be caught in the middle. For Eli, that trauma was very much physical. He was almost home he had collapsed at the entrance of Canis in a chrysalis of achnoite. It saved him death, but it would be ages before he remerged.

At least to the gembounds on the outside.

For Eli, would only seem like a moment.

The clear walls of his chrysalis broke up, and the hybrid's wings of stretched and flapped as he flopped on the hard, stone ground, coughing and gagging. His thick fur was soaked amniotic fluid thst clung heavily to his light frame. Eli struggled to his feet, shaking his coat. His bright eyes wild with confusion and fear. "Elyon?? Elyon??" He called out frantically.

Eli spun around, his sister was no where in sight. He appeared to alone in a dark tunnel, with the entrance of Canis glaring down at him.

A kid with the personality of a dude-bro was probably not the best person to approach someone fresh out of the chrysalis, with trauma and other things up the butt, but this was how it was so-

Lemonface waddled his way through Tunnel K with a bush rabbit in his beak, wings slightly spread as he made his way back. In no way could he really even fly, but the scent of a fresh kill had alerted him to something interesting. After scaring off a few rats that had started eating the thing, he took off with it, laughing his stupid head off.

Though the chrysalis that shattered beside him made him shriek, startled into accidental flight for a few strokes before his brain caught up and he crashed to the ground in a heap of black and brown feathers.

"Yo what the-"

Lemonface turned with a wide-eyed expression, staring at the creature who kind of looked like every single god damned Bonebound except for basically him and Giggle.

More like the Birdbound, he thought dryly.

"Bro you okay-", he said, before the other started to scream a name he didn't quite recognize.

Yeah he was so out of his depth here-

ELI
I CAN GO THE DISTANCE

Eli's ears flicked to the young voice behind him. He whipped around. "Huh? A young vulture with a half eaten rabbit was looking at him. Eli wagged his still-wet tail. "Um-uhh. The hybrid looked around. The tunnel seemed okay. He picked up his paw and flapped his wings. Eli hovered in the air and twirled, examining his backside. No burns, no broken bones, it was like Raheerah never happened. With the grace of a butterfly, he landed back on his feet "I-I think so?" Eli almost wasn't convinced of it himself.

The hybrid leaned forward. His lips tight with uncertainty. "Um.. have you seen my sister? She's like really tall and muscular and.. uh, chitonous." His eyes flicked past the vulture, hoping to catch a glimpse of her large, centaur figure in the dark

"... I don't know what that means- uh, chit- chito- the chuh word thing,", he said, shrugging, "Sorry man."

Lemonface approached with the rabbit and dropped it, folding in his wings and looking Eli up and down, "You look like... Eythan. You his brother or somethin'? He's kinda weird, scatterbrained, y'know. Had a kid a bit ago named Avi- she's awesome you should meet her-"

He shook his head, he was getting off track.

"You just hatched, right?", he said, "Why are you full-grown? I thought only kids came out of eggs."

Lemon followed Eli's gaze behind him and saw nothing. His eyes narrowed in confusion and he scratched at his chest with his claws, a bit unnerved.

"Uh... you hungry?", he said, pointing to his rabbit, "I found this- you can uh... have it, I guess."

He wasn't very happy to give up his meal, but it wasn't like he couldn't find another.

Avi?

He had a little sister now?

Eli felt his throat tighten the mention of life-giver. "Eythan is my dad." He peered at the little vulture, who was going on about about kids coming from eggs and stuff. Eli couldn't keep up, his mind was still reeling from learning about his new sister and Raheerah- RAHEERAH! He can't believe he had almost forgot!

Eli shyed away from the offer of rabbit and licked his lips. He couldn't be hungry at a time like this. "Uh, n-no thanks! Hey, have you seen any big fire-breathing dragons around anywhere? Like is it still in Orion?" His hackles rose. "Is it coming here?? I have to warn the Bonebound!" Eli's wings swept him up in the air. He could still feel the fire on his back, the smell of charred flesh. He remembered Elyon crying over him.

He didn't remember Eythan making Avi, but maybe he hit his head too hard.

"... What's a dragon?", Lemonface asked, squinting, "Did you hit your head? Or like sleep in there too long?"

The vulture hopped forward and grabbed Eli's foot (hand, foot, whatever) in his own and tugged on it, "Hey! Stop panickin'- we can go to Eythan okay? He can figure this stuff out, I know it. Family reunion, right?"

He tried to calm the fellow avian (hybrid, technically) down, wings gesturing in a soothing motion, "You're good, bro. Promise. No dragons or monsters here, okay? Just you 'n' me and this dead rabbit."

Lemonface pulled away and trotted forward towards Canis, "Now c'mon- you wanna see your dad, right?"

The vulture reached out and clasped Eli's foot. It wasn't all that hard to pull the sky-dog down, he was practically lighter than air. With a few wing flaps, Eli landed back down. He glanced at the rabbit carcass the vulture pointed out and licked his lips nervously. "Y-Yeah.." He agreed.

No more dragon? New sister? How long have I been out?

Eli didn't want to think about it. His head was still spinning. Was it was from being in a chrysalis? Maybe he was just hungry... Now that he mentioned it, Eli felt famished, like he hadn't eaten in cycles. He glanced down at the rabbit and felt his stomach growl. "So.. what's your name, lil' fella? I'm called Eli." That was good enough for an introduction right? Besides, he wanted to change the subject. Eli bent down and took a bite of rabbit. Caves... was it him, or was this was best rabbit he's ever tasted? He took another bite, a bigger one. Smacking his lips, the hybrid asked. "Are you Bonebound?" Eli already knew the answer to that. The vulture smelled like Canis.
@Lemonface
(Sorry about the wait)

RE: Homeward Bound - Lemonface - Sep 26 2020

"Hell fuckin' yeah I'm Bonebound! Name's Lemonface, I'm new blood,", he said, "Hatched here a while ago and Eythan found me. Apparently I looked like a naked potato that sucked on a lemon so I got the name... and it stuck."

Lemon shrugged and hopped forward, his adolescent feathers still having some growing to do before he'd be able to fly like the others did, but he could glide and hop just fine.

"An' I ain't little! I'm gonna get my feathers in soon- just you wait, I'll be bigger than you,", he insisted, feathers ruffling, "I haven't been practicing my moves for nothin'-"

He flared a wing out and did a quick one-two, striking out at the air before letting his wings flop down, waving one carelessly, "Ah who am I kiddin'- I'm gonna be a tiny lil' shit for the rest of my life- Avi's gonna have a fit."

He waddled off down the tunnel grumbling something about short guys getting ladies too before turning his head.

"You comin'?", he asked.

RE: Homeward Bound - Eli - Sep 26 2020

"Fuck yeah!" Eli laughed. "That means we're Bone Brothers!" Lemonface was an usual name for a gembound, he should have guessed his father had a claw in naming him. Fortunately, (and unfortunately for Lemonface) since they were bonebrothers that meant Eli had the honorary right to tease him about it.

He stepped back as the bird kicked the air, apparently these were his moves. "Woah!" Eli gasped. "You gotta teach me some of those." They weren't that impressive, but he didn't have the heart to tell him.

Eli chuckled. Talking to this spunky bird, he had almost forgotten about his troubles. He watched Lemonface walk towards the mouth of Canis. Eli frowned and looked up at the monster's gaping face carved on the stone. It reminded him of Raheerah... It must have been ages...

"You comin'?" The vulture's voice snapped him out of it.

Eli shook the stress from his coat."Uh, yeah!" He scarfed down the rest of the rabbit and trotted after his new bonebrother.

"Bonebrothers!", he grinned, his ashy feathers puffing up in glee, "And Hell yeah I'll teach you- I got all the moves, y'know!"

Lemon continued to the entrance of Canis, stopping just before it to make sure Eli was following him.

"Some shit has happened since you've been gone,", he said, "A Hydra trial- whatever that is. I heard lot's of people didn't make it."

"And then of course, me 'n' Avi appeared! And Ozzie, too, haven't met the guy all that much but I think he's nice,", Lemon rambled, clearly liking the sound of his voice.

"The second I'm able to fly, I'm gonna leave for a bit to see the rest of the caves,", Lemonface said, "I'm kinda stuck here 'til then, but I'm getting there! Slowly but surely."
