Looking for Lorekeeper - Comet - Sep 26 2020

Comet walked carefully through Canis, every step carefully placed. There was just something creepy about this room, with bones everywhere. She resisted the urge to go and gnaw on some of them. Why was she even here in the first place? Oh yeah, to meet Lorekeeper.

She had heard about Lorekeeper from one of her many adventures, and she was eager to see if she could meet her for herself. Comet could use a day just listening to her stories, but she was afraid that she would not be able to find her.

The scent of old bones filled most of this place; rats, here and there, as well.

The odor of the Lorekeeper was perhaps something a little more rankly alive, but it was faint, old, and well-hidden, as well as being something unknown to the wolf pup. Comet would need to spend some time attempting to locate a thread of the correct odor by chance, and to follow it: a failure would leave it seeming to simply disappear into the bones, or lead her following the wrong smell altogether.

Why the old creature was hiding would be another question altogether.

Comet will need to roll a Successful+ Other roll to follow the scent to its source; a failure will lose the scent altogether for the duration of this thread. She may roll a Barely Successful + not to lose the scent immediately, leading her a little closer to the source and giving her a chance to try again.

A faint scent filled her nose, slightly different from the other scents of the place. But it was old, and hard to pick out among the other scents of the place. Comet was on the trail, but she was sure that if she made a mistake, the scent would be lost.

She poured her concentration into it, and tried to follow it further into Canis.

Whatever the odor was, it led to the mouth of Tunnel P. It wasn't clear what it had been, but here the heat and air dispersed the several-days'-old scent, and there was nothing more to find.

Darn! She followed it to the mouth of Tunnel P before the wind dispersed the scent, and she was unable to find it again. Oh well, at least she knew where she would try looking next. So with that, Comet left the creepy cave of Canis.
