Comet led Mayfal into a new cave, cautiously of course, she couldn't be sure what was found here. "This place looks like it's made of HUGE crystals!" Some even looked as big as trees! Her ocean blue eyes looked at her reflection in the crystals.

So that was how she looked like! Sometimes she had been able to catch glimpses in pools of water, but those had ripples that obscured much of the image. The more she looked, the more she understood how others described her. She did look like a lump of snow! Her brilliant blue gemstone ear looked more beautiful than she thought. But then Comet saw the scars. One on her jaw, another on her ear, and then the one that looked like lightning spread across her back. She didn't want to see anymore after that.

Comet led Mayfal to one of one the crystals. "Try touching it! It's so smooth!"

Mayfal was listening intently. To anything. But they really only heard Comet and her echoing voice.

They also heard things Comet wasn't saying, like her heartbeat. It quickened like she was excited, but there wasn't;t any danger nearby so she must have been happy. But then her heartbeat started to slow, like she wasn't happy anymore. Mayfal was confused, but they did as Comet said.

They gingerly let their nose make contact with the crystal first. Then they let their paw do the same. It was the most perfect surface that Mayfal had ever felt. It had almost no scent and it felt like water that wouldn't give. And it was just as cold as water, too.

Mayfal was amazed and weary at the same time. "What is this stuff?"

They wanted to ask about Comet's feelings, too, but that could be discussed when Mayfal felt a little safer.

Comet touched her paw to the surface too, and it was smoother than anything she had ever felt. Smoother than even ice if that was possible! "It's a kind of gemstone I think... but it's huge! It looks like it almost touches the ceiling! I can even see a reflection of myself in it."

The wolf looked away, she didn't like seeing the reflection of herself too much. And that, was when she spotted the Geode Caves. Adventure! "Let's go over there! It looks like a tunnel made out of these crystals." she said, changing the subject.

A whole cave of this perfect surface. Mayfal tried to find Comet's tail.

It didn't just make Mayfal feel strange. From what they could tell, it had a weird effect on Comet, too. They couldn't let her keep changing the subject. She'd have to talk about this eventually.

"Okay, Comet, but I have some conditions. You're gonna tell me how you're feeling and I'm gonna need your tail, too." Mayfal tried their best not to sound worried, but something was just off about wherever the two were.

...And the way it was so cold. Strange.

Mayfal knew her too well. That was one of the problems, and benefits, of having a close friend like that. You couldn't hide anything, but sometimes it was a good thing to have someone to tell your feelings to. Comet brushed her tail to their muzzle and took a deep breath.

"I have a lot of scars on my body. Sometimes I wonder... if I should keep exploring like this. It'll certainly make renny a bit less worried. It's so dangerous to keep living like this, but I wouldn't be happy if I don't." Comet knew that for Mayfal, even living life was dangerous. It wasn't easy being blind. Perhaps they would have some good advice on this.

Mayfal had no concept of scars. What they knew of Comet's body was that it was covered in lots of fur and was very warm. Although, there were places where the fur was less dense. Maybe those where the scars she was talking about. If that was the case...

"Yo sfihr berby pruhhy!" And Comet was, indeed, still very fluffy. They were sure Comet knew this as well. But she seemed more worried about the danger they represented. But the scars showed how strong she was! Why would she stop being strong if it would make her sad?

"Am yo fhoob bay hapu." To Mayfal, Comet deserved all the happiness in the caves. They felt confident that their (muffled) words of comfort had lifted Comet's spirits back to their usual hight.

Although Mayfal's words were muffled, Comet was able to decipher them without too much trouble. "Thank you Mayfal," their words of comfort warmed her body, "You're right. As usual." She let out a small laugh and shook out her fur, making sure to keep her tail still so as to not wrench it from the fox's grasp.

This was a happy trip, she wasn't going to burden Mayfal with any more of her worries, which were quite numerous indeed. "Let's look around. See what's here." Comet started walking again, making sure not to go too fast in this new place.

The canines came upon a crystalline outcropping—which wasn't all that unusual, given Gemini's essentially being a geode. It was about two feet tall, with two very symmetrical points, and situated towards the wall. What was odd about it was the matte finish in comparison to the other mirror-reflective crystals.

It bore further investigation, if either Gembound was curious enough.
