Sharing is Caring, Somewhat (Not Really) - Aran - Oct 03 2020 Aran didn't know what he was doing at this place, but he did know that it would have been pretty to look at if he could see everything. He was completely unaware that the cave had two layers, being on the top, less dangerous one, the deer was going to seek out the first gembound he could find. If the Collector wanted him to share his information, than he would. Aran had never been against sharing it before, just that he traded for the knowledge. The other gembound would trade with him to learn it, Aran lived by a give and take. He supposed this was a give and take, though, seeing as he was giving the information and was going to take from the collector once he did. He also had to bring the Collector a live lesser to use its eyes. Picking the right one was going to be a chore. It didn't matter anyway though, since Aran would be able to see again for the most part. @Talys RE: Sharing is Caring, Somewhat (Not Really) - Talys - Oct 03 2020 Talys had been, for the past several hours (he'd woken up about an hour before the lights for daytime had come on and had taken a bath in the meantime), trying to make what was, for lack of a better word, a length of cordage. He'd gotten the idea when he was pulling pieces of long grass out of the ground, and had started to twist them between his fingers. Talys had noticed that they were rather strong if twisted up, and had been trying to puzzle out for a long time now how to get them to hold their shape. Twisting them in just one direction didn't work, even if he tied a knot at the end, because it would unravel later -- and also, grass didn't tie into knots very well. Among other similar issues. The muted sound of hoofbeats against the sand drew his attention, and he called out. "Hello! My name is Talys, what's yours?" Unaware that the deer couldn't see him, he continued to fuss at his cord with pursed lips, his fingers cramping something fierce -- he'd stopped caring a while ago. @aran RE: Sharing is Caring, Somewhat (Not Really) - Aran - Oct 04 2020 The other gembound was quiet, so Aran hadn't noticed him at first. He nearly jumped from scare when the gembound asked his name. This was someone he could prompt the scrolls to, at least. Aran wasn't aware that the gembound was a kid, but age didn't matter when it came to discovery. If anything, children were more likely to go exploring a lot, and would seek out information more. "I am Aran." He replied. Head turning where the sound came from. @Talys RE: Sharing is Caring, Somewhat (Not Really) - Talys - Oct 12 2020 "Hi Aran," he said brightly, pausing to look up and grin at him -- a bared-teeth and squinted-eyes sort of look that most might've perceived as a threat -- before noticing that his eyes were fogged over. Talys pushed himself up on wobbly legs and wandered over, looking the creature over. It was taller than him, but not by much if you didn't count the antlers -- Talys was about three feet tall himself, and stood up on his tippy toes to try and get a better look. "Can you see?" he asked, in that loud and blunt sort of way that small children did. "Your eyes look funny." @aran RE: Sharing is Caring, Somewhat (Not Really) - Aran - Oct 16 2020 Content Warning This post contains potentially sensitive material: Thoughts of death and violence Aran wouldn't have been intimidated by the other gembound even if he could see the expression he had on his face. Aran wasn't afraid of much, anymore. He knew his death would be coming to him one day. Not being able to see things around him just made it seem like that time was edging closer and closer, Aran wouldn't have any of it. He would let himself die when he was ready, and now he was not ready. "Vaguely." Aran replied to the question. It wasn't surprising, he was sure his eyes had some kind of foggy appearance to them. Revealing the weakness was not part of the plan, but he didn't have much of a plan anyway. Show off the cool stuff, take the scrolls back, move on. And then he would return to the collector with a gift of a living lesser with eyes. He would have to find a way to bring one with him, but that would be easy. He had his magic, he had ways of making things so sick they couldn't move. It wasn't hard, that much was evident in his fight with the alligator from before. @Talys RE: Sharing is Caring, Somewhat (Not Really) - Talys - Oct 29 2020 He rubbed his nose and stared at Aran. "Cool!" He patted Aran's cheek and sat down on the sand again, stopping to play with his toes. "Why're you here? I live here. Do you live here?" Ah, the voice of a child trying to get someone to talk to him -- Aran had, as of yet, been rather unengaging, and Talys was interested in having an actual conversation. @aran RE: Sharing is Caring, Somewhat (Not Really) - Aran - Nov 12 2020 Aran nearly flinched back when the kid tapped at his face before moving. At least the other gembound didn't try to poke at him more, he might have left if that was the case. Touch was.... a weird thing now. Perhaps it always had been. Either way, the kid was asking questions and Aran was there to answer them. "I was looking for someone to share some information with." He replied with a pause. "I do not live here." @Talys RE: Sharing is Caring, Somewhat (Not Really) - Talys - Nov 28 2020 His eyes lit up. "I like to learn things! What's the information you have?" and then he was on his feet again, suddenly reinvigorated. Okay, maybe Aran was not as boring as initially assumed, because HELLO? Learning things! He hoped it was something interesting, like about making or creating. He glanced back at his abandoned length of twine. It... hadn't been going very well, to be entirely honest. @aran RE: Sharing is Caring, Somewhat (Not Really) - Aran - Dec 08 2020 The kid was excited about learning the things the deer had - information wise. Aran had some information, but he didn't know much of what the child wanted to know. That didn't entirely matter anyway. Aran set the bag that swung from his antlers down, grabbing a random scroll and laying it out for the kid to look at. Which one it was, was besides him. @Talys RE: Sharing is Caring, Somewhat (Not Really) - Talys - Dec 22 2020 The scroll in question was the one that detailed how to make sugar. His eyes widened as he took it, taking some time to study it. "Have you done this one before?" he asked, before remembering that Aran was blind and then adding, "The one with the flowers, I mean." @aran |
