After Roan Hatches - Roan - Oct 25 2020
Roan opens her eyes bleariily, the sun hitting her face in the hollow of the tree she slept in. She slowly lifted her head and perked her ears, listening to her surroundings. Once she heard nothing out of the unusual she slowly crawled out of the hollow and stretched. Her back had finally had progress on healing, her stomach then growled. She needed to eat. Roan then sniffed the air and started walking as quietly as she could. Sniffing the air and the ground on occassion for the scent of food.
After some time she began to get lost in her thoughts, her brows furrowed and she almost missed the scent. But a small breeze began to blow and she caught the scent of what was hopefully her next meal. She quickly doubled back and began to track the prey. All she had to to was take it down now.

Comet trotted through the forest, her paws walking along the worn trail in the ground. Since this cave was her new home with James, she had been learning to hunt in this forest instead of the one in Eridanus. The difference was in the types of trees here. Instead of having a jungle like biome, Pegasus contained one with pine forests, meadows, and a river. But she liked it here, so nice and peaceful.
Instead of the ground being soft underneath her feet, crunchy leaves and brittle leaves were strewn about, each paw step causing a loud noise. It was hard to be sneaky, but she wasn't too hungry anyway. Her eyes passed lazily over the forest around her, but even so, she caught a glimpse of red. Mouse! Was her first thought, but there was no way it could be that big."Hello?" she called towards Roan.

Roan's gaze was quickly torn from her prey as she heard a voice call out hello. She froze for a moment and then quickly scurried into some bushes in the hopes that it wasn't her that the stranger had spotted. She felt her hear begin to pound faster. She was scared. She trembled slightly. She didn't want anything to do with them so she sat silently in the bushes.

The red animal darted into a bush, Comet could tell that much. She padded towards the movement, stopping outside the bush. Was it a rabbit? But she was pretty sure rabbits weren't red. Peering into the bush told her that it was a large animal... deer? No deer didn't do that. It was a gembound for sure. "Hey, it's okay. You can come out." Being incredibly used to others being scared of her, she was quite unfazed by this reaction.

She listened to the stranger speak. She didn't reply but lay very still among the bushes, hoping that they'd lose interest but she soon found herself growling, trying to sound fierce. "Stay away! Don't come any closer!" Her little heart was beating a thousand miles an hour. Even though she was back on her feet she still wasn't fully recovered. She couldn't afford to get in another fight with someone so much bigger than her. Her ears were pinned to her head as she continued to growl.

The red thing's less than welcome reception came as a surprise to Comet, although she knew that she would've been scared herself if something bigger than her appeared. Not really. She didn't want to risk a fight, which would be out of self defense more than anything if she got closer. It probably wouldn't turn out too well for the red thing either. Scrunching her nose, she thought over the situation for a bit before responding, "It's okay, I'll leave you alone then."
