neverender - Xender - Jul 22 2015

for the murders of those i court
i bless the hour that holds your fall, i will kill you all

pitch, it surrounded everything. silence, whirs of rushing winds, though subtle as ever. the crack, gruesome noises continued to grow, echoing all around, until body was met with liquid, until mind was set free. then, the pitch was no longer, the shroud dissipating as the light encroached. but innately, as diaphragm heaved - sputtering, coughing, hacking, wheezing. whatever i just breathed in was something that was not supposed to be breathed in. my lungs were drowning and i scrambled to my paws, where i looked downward. slender muzzle could be seen extending from my face, and i wondered what i was - where i was - what was even happening. i stuck the muzzle into the liquid again, sucked, just to confirm it wasn't breathable - whatever the substance was. salmon tongue smoothed over my chops instinctively, before i was then able to notice the face of me. i peered down at my reflection, eyes of pale lavender matched something rather extraordinary which began at the bridge of my nose, and spread upward. for long moments, i simply stared at me. the water surrounding me lipped at my ankles, though i dared not go deeper. what if it consumed more of me? swallowed me whole? in my stationary posture, something then began to feel at my paws. it scared me, so i jumped from the water and onto a base which wasn't covered in the liquid. but as i looked across the landscape, i noticed it was riddled with these...things. they all had glossy surfaces, so to inspect, i aimed to advance toward the nearest one. but how do i get over there? i moved my legs, and my face slammed into the hard flooring. i scrambled to my feet again, then reattempted the trek. it was in quick succession did i learn that i could practically rocket to the other glassy thing. however, my brakes weren't that great. i tried to stop, but instead i just fell in entirely. and it did consume me, swallowed me whole, and i struggled to return to the rocky base. the entire situation had me panicking, and when i was able to break the water's surface i sucked in the air - the thing you're supposed to breath and it won't try to kill you. scrambling to the edge, i crawled out of the water, laying on my stomach as my breathing was rather labored, wheezy. where was i, and how can i go back to the pitch.

RE: neverender - Makyna - Jul 22 2015

"

These days
Well, they're looking up
We got so much to say
We got someone to love
We got good friends
They're so good to us
And haters can hate
And fakers can front

So we try to live
Like it's all we've got
Cause for all we know~
"

A lone voice rang out of one of the many dens of Pisces along with a strange sound, one that wasn't known to the cave, the sound of bells and chimes and music. It went in harmony with the one singing, giving her pleasant tones even more melody. Inside of the den a lioness sat on her haunches, eyes half closed as she lifted her head to the sky with mouth open as she belted her lyrics to the bear in front of her. Her best friend and even more. She didn't know where the song came from but with how that murderer had been ousted she felt happier than she had in a while so perhaps that's where the song came from.

On the chorus she rose to her paws and walked over to the bear and in an attempt to get him to sing it with her she put her head next to his, and sang the lyrics with a great smile on her face,

"

This could be the last night of our lives
Gonna chase down our every desire
We, blaze the night
With all we've been waiting for
All this time
Reaches such great heights
Gives us just one, perfect night
To say "oh, what a beautiful life"
"Oh, what a--
"

Her voice stopped as well as the background song when the sound of something strange hit her ears. A sound like splashing and struggling. "Did... did you hear that?" Without saying another word she turned, knowing Leon would follow, and made her way down to the ponds of Pisces.

She arrived just in time to see a little bedraggled and wet form emerge from the water. It was a newborn! "Oh! That poor baby! Come on, Leo!" With that she put on a burst of speed to reach the little creature. After she went over to the little one the lioness lay down on her side and reached one paw out to try and grab the little pup to try and get her to her warm side. The little one had to be freezing and scared after that whole ordeal! "There there, you're with friends now. Are you alright? Did you swallow any water?" The lioness attempted to pat the pup's back in case any of the water had been sucked into her lungs.

RE: neverender - Leon - Jul 22 2015

Leon, thankfully, was given a chance - during the trial, he feared that he may meet the same fate as Cancer. The bear didn't want to be exiled, not when he'd only just returned, and especially not now that he'd come back to Makyna. But in the end he was allowed to stay, no matter the punishment they decided to give him due to his transgressions against Cancer. It would all pass with time, he knew; and he knew it was only proper justice that he be punished the same as Cancer. Leon wasn't upset. He was merely relieved that he was allowed to stay here in Maji Walezi, in his home, with Makyna.

The bear lay in Makyna's den, having only recently awoken from another deep sleep. He'd been getting a lot of sleep; rest came easier now than he was in the safety of Pisces, especially with Makyna, after everything had been said and done. He raised his head, the deep and gruesome scars stretching across his muzzle and throat stiff, making it difficult to move with ease; his orange eyes blinked the sleep out of them as the chiming and ringing of bells soon filled the silence, accompanied by Makyna's soft voice. The song illuminated the brisk atmosphere around them, and Leon closed his eyes, smiling as he listened. He always tried to hum along when Makyna sang. It was harder when she sang a new song, but soon he would get the hang of it, humming along to her words.

As she came up near him and placed her head against his, Leon laughed quietly and opened his eyes, pressing his cheek against hers. If he could just match the tune of the song... "Gonna chase down our every desire, we blaze the night with all we've been waiting for, all this time." He slowly started to sing with her, startled by the sound of his own baritone voice mingling with the gentle pitch of the lioness'. But he persisted, eager to keep up with her and to continue hearing their voices together. It wasn't often that Leon sang with others around - since he'd left Maji Walezi, the bear sang very little, only occasionally humming to himself in his lonesome. But with Makyna it was different. She was allowed to hear him sing - she was the only one who bore a window into his soul. "Reaches such great heights, gives us just one perfect night to say oh, what a beautiful life, oh, what a- "

The bear's voice cut off as quickly as Makyna's did at the sound of splashing water. He blinked and jerked his head towards the sound, straightening up as the lioness started to head away from the den. Leon was quick to scramble to his paws and follow after her, bobbing his head as he moved. It was difficult to keep up with her when she moved so swiftly, and as she spoke of the sound coming from a newborn, he arched his brows and hurried. Soon enough he saw Makyna approach the child - a small canine, like Arkrael - and try to bring it closer to warm it up. He rounded behind her and came up on the other side of the little pup, settling down into a seated position.

Post-Roll Edit:
He kept his eyes fixed on the pup while warmth began to simmer inside of the bear. It had been a while since he summoned his magic after the fight, especially with his chipped stone - he needed time to recover. Thankfully, it was enough time, or simply that Leon wasn't trying to use too much magic. Whatever the reason, he was able to feel the warmth rise inside of him. A dim yellow glow emanated from his skin between clumps of fur, from his nostrils and ears and where ever the fur was thin. Accompanying it was a gentle warmth radiating out from the bear, an attempt to comfort the little pup.

i opened my eyes just in time to see a large, no, huge mass approaching me in sheer haste. i wanted to flinch away, but i was far too panicked fort that, but when the paw was placed upon my back i felt sudden relief. then something even bigger rounded her, came into view, and as i watched the two giants in awe i noticed the biggest one began to glow, seemingly from within. i wanted to ask so many questions, but instead, i sputtered a cough and hacked a lung. i attempted to stand, but my little limbs were unable to sustain the weight of my small frame from the anxiety which riddled each and every fiber within me. so i remained laying upon my stomach, little sienna muzzle gliding from the small giant's face to the large giant's face. the small giant asked me things, if i'd swallowed water, if i was alright. what did these things mean? was the liquid water, that killer substance. i attempted speech.

"that stuff..don't breathe it. it makes breathing bad."

i said matter of factly, just in case the two didn't know. the warmth which radiated from the biggest giant and the small embraces from the smaller giant was welcomed, and i inchwormed toward them both.

"what's...it? what..?"

i curiously, furiously tried to ask what everything was, what i was, what they were, what even just freaking happened to me. and i was rather confused as to how the bigger giant was able to glow, expel heat. strange things, i needed answers. but i would wait patiently.

RE: neverender - Makyna - Jul 22 2015

Leon was there with every step she took and the lioness was grateful for him. She'd always tried her best to look after little gems when they hatched or had no one to care for them but this was the first time Leon had been with her during one of these times. It was nice having him along. He was the perfect one to help keep the little pup warm after her ordeal.

"Yes, little pup, water is for fish not us land 'bounds. We only need water for drinking and baths." She pat the little one on her back again, trying to help with the coughing. Makyna was happy that the little one seemed to be warming up to them.

When the little one asked what "it" was the lioness was confused. It? Did she mean the water? Or did she mean the large glowing bear? Or "it" as in the whole cave of Pisces? Makyna gave a confused glance to Leon first before deciding to try and answer the question. "Do you mean the water? It is a liquid, a life-giving liquid that we must drink to live. Some creatures, like fish, live in it as they can breath it." She hoped she answered the question good enough. "This place we are in is called Pisces. This cave is where we live... where you have been born." Makyna didn't know if she should unload the whole deal of Maji Walezi onto the pup. It might be much to explain clan dynamics to a newborn.

The lioness glanced at Leon, a smile on her face. Would he have anything to add? Or perhaps he had understood her question better.

While Leon's mind mostly lingered on the pup, every now and then he'd cast a glance up at Makyna, watching her soothe and comfort the small child just as he had when he first found her. It seemed so long ago, the bear couldn't help but crack a small smile at the memory, a small fire of happiness sizzling in the pit of his chest. The babe was eager to get to warmth it seemed, scooting up between them. With the light and warmth dimly spread from his form, Leon shuffled in closer as well. She spoke of breathing in the water, prompting a furrowed brow of concern from the bear before he looked up at Makyna, then back to the child as she asked what "it" was. Most likely the water she was asking about, but Makyna went ahead and explained mostly everything that the child might even be curious about, including the water and the cave.

Often during times like this, Leon had very little to say while Makyna comforted and answered everything a small Gembound would ask about. They had discovered quite a few newborns - he could remember finding Amaria, Ghost, and Silence, they'd even helped Carrie together when she had lost her leg... although the capybara hadn't been seen since then, Leon liked to believe that she was just making her way somewhere out there. This time around, the bear raised his head and looked down at the babe with curious eyes. "Yeah, water," He said and reached a paw out, gently tapping the surface of the nearest pool of water. "Good to drink, not so good to breathe in." There wasn't much else for him to say until the child expressed wonder about anything else.

So, Leon withdrew his paw and tucked it in, falling silent.

The giants responded to me, telling me about the water. They knew not to breathe it, so why didn't I know? Silly. I was then able to sit up, and I shook my small frame. As a result, multihued fibers frizzed and stood on end, giving me a rather unappealing outlook. Lavender lenses looked from the gentle, golden giant to the reserved, hulking giant. They were different, like the water and the air, but some how they meshed. I wondered how I looked compared to them. Maybe I was like the biggest giant! We both had long noses, and the other was more softened and round. I smiled, then spoke, minuscule contralto tones chirping in my youngblood state.

"am I what you are?!"

I exclaimed excitedly, hoping for sure that I was what he was. Was I his? Instinctively, my tail began to wag, sweeping across the stoned flooring as well as flapping about in my elation at my discovery. I looked back at the other giant, the softer one.

"and you, you're different. Am I yours?"

I asked, wondering if maybe I belonged to the both of them. Did I belong? Or was I free? I didn't know, I wasn't sure. I wanted to know, I was excited. Happy, jubilation practically spewing from every orifice.

RE: neverender - Makyna - Jul 22 2015

Leon chimed to help tell the pup about the water and Makyna smiled and nodded. Then, she asked a tougher question. Well, Makyna didn't want to lie to the girl but she didn't want to crush her spirits either. If the wolf really wanted to be a bear then telling her she wasn't could possible hurt. It would also hurt later on in life if Ky lied to her and had to answer later. The lioness shook her head gently. "No, sweetie, Leon is a bear. You are a wolf. I am a lion. Though... we all are gembounds." There, that was the truth. The weren't the same species but technically they were all the same thing. Connected by their gems.

Still that excitement was very cute and contagious, the lioness found herself laughing. "You can be ours, if you like. You can belong with both us, in this cave." Surely Leon wouldn't mind adopting another child, right? "You can be with us and belong to us but only if you'd like to." That was fair enough, right? "Isn't that right, Leon?" It was more of a question to test and see if he was okay with adopting another newborn. They already had Hyndmark, Rhone, Quix, and Silence. Wow... She amassing quite an arsenal of little ones. But who could say no to those little faces?

RE: neverender - Leon - Jul 23 2015

As the youth turned her head to Leon and boldly asked if she was what he was, the bear couldn't help but laugh and slide down on his belly so that he sat at eye level with the young child. Makyna pointed out that they were all different species; he a bear, she a lioness, and the cub was but a small wolf. "A Gembound is a creature with a stone on them. All of us are Gembounds. See, I have a big rock on my shoulder, and Makyna has one on her forehead." He added, wiggling his shoulder so that she could see the massive obsidian point sticking up out of his back, then gesturing at the cabochon of aquamarine lodged in Makyna's forehead. Leon focused back on the pup, quickly realizing that her stone was embedded in her face and carried up over her skull - she probably wouldn't be able to see it without the help of a reflection. "Your's is on your face. You can't see it, but its very pretty." He smiled and tapped between his eyes, just to show her where it would be.

Falling silent, the bear listened as Makyna offered to take the pup in, to give her a home and parents as the two of them so often did. Makyna had a habit of collecting children, sometimes without Leon knowing until she brought them home to Pisces. Leon didn't really have a problem with it, though. Young Gembounds weren't all that dependent anyways, and it only really took a cycle or two before they were up and off doing their own thing, with only Makyna and Leon to refer to as caretakers in the past. Still, he hoped that in doing so they forged a special relationship. After all, once they had found Amaria and brought her back, he liked to think the relationship between them was still as solid as it had ever been, despite the fiasco with Cancer. Leon would always see the clouded leopard as his younger sister, no matter what she did. He would always care for her.

As she called on him, the bear gave a firm nod. "We can take care of you and help you learn." He added with a tilt of his head. It was always better to have somebody helping you learn, or learning alongside you. Now that Leon had better control over his magic, he wasn't as afraid of accidentally harming anybody. "But even if you don't want to stay with us, and if you want to explore instead, you can always come back and see us." Leon said. He didn't want to give the pup an ultimatum, especially if she desired the love and companionship of 'parents' without feeling obligated to live in one part of the cave. She was bound to want to explore.

Okay, so I wasn't theirs, but I could be. Lion - I looked at makyna. Bear - I looked at Leon. Then myself, a wolf. But what was I called? I grimaced, both absorbing everything they had just informed me of and mulled over what I could be called. Then, Leon gestured toward his noggin about the location of my so called gem. It must have been that really shiny, purple thing I had seen in my brief reflection before taking a nosedive into that exceptionally dangerous - however life giving - water. I waited many moments before answering them at all. A small grin still upon my face as I looked from the lion the the bear.

"of course I want to be yours. But uhm-"

I cut myself off, as lavender lenses then shifted from Leon to makyna and back again.

"what's my name?"

I asked shyly, wondering if maybe they knew my name or would give me one. Could I name myself? Did they name themselves? I guess I would find out soon enough.
