in the deep forest green - Attikias - Jan 14 2021 He was home, again. A soft sigh escaped him as he returned from the local river, still shaking off the wet feeling from his arms and his hair continuing to be dripping wet. He needed to be clean, after all- he'd been a while since he'd taken a bath, even if the waters weren't the cleanest around.
It still made him feel better. Flicking his tail, Attikias beelined for his workbench. He had stacks of leather piled up by now, a few pieces already being worked on, and goals in mind- he needed to make armor. He had his own, but Carja's saddle sat nearby and James wanted something minimal, and the elf wanted to make a few capes of the still furred pelts for warmth. The latter would be easy. The other ones? He'd have to gather dye for that, and he rumbled at the idea, squeezing his eyes shut as he let it settle in. Right. With a breath out, he placed the large urn of water that he'd carried home down by his feet. A smaller bowl was settled in the bottom, and he reached in for it, fishing it out with a good bit of river water in its cusp. It'd do good to mold the leather with it- perhaps he could start, first with some simple leg armor for James. The deer and horses, they tended to have more fragile legs- he wasn't certain if armor could really protect it, but it'd help. Reaching to another side, Attikias extracted a large wooden rod, perched on stilts. It found its place at the edge of the table- he'll use it later. Humming gently to himself, Attikias pulled one of the lighter pieces over to the table and took his nknife tracing a rough shape in the leather. Yeah, good- But- ah, shit. He'd already made a wrong cut. Tail bristling, Attikias turned back to find himself a seat and plant himself on it. He could use this leather for something else- a smaller leg piece on the ankle, maybe but the larger forearm bracer? Nah. He huffed. This will be a long night. RE: in the deep forest green - Attikias - Jan 14 2021 Attikias carved out the rest of the smaller cut- he could still use it, after all, after wetting it and shaping it to fit over James's ankle. The rest of the piece, he reached for- he remembered Tahi's size, vaguely, and James wanted something simpler, so he could do simple leg armor, perhaps, so as to not prevent flight. A pelt cape might be good, too- keep him warm in Ursa. Would it be good for the others? He could work on that, too.
But, for now, he trimmed out the lines for leg armors, each set going to the bowl and sitting- then going to the rod, rolled over it and stretched and shaped and hardened to be perfect. All went through this process. The different pieces were matched together- left leg to left ankle, right to right, it was all guesswork but he could hope that they'd fit. After that was done, he leaned back, threading leather through holes he began to pierce via the bone needle at his workdesk. It tied much like a shoe lace, made to be tied at the top- it may be hard to get on if the person didn't have hands, but it was a bit more secure. And, he hoped, more comfortable. Holding the piece up, he hummed gently, turning it about in the dull light. That looked right. He set it down and shoved up, grumbling as he stretched, reaching for a larger piece for Tahi's main portion of armor. The chestplate would be harder to shape. Thankfully, he had Carja's saddle-log to help, and after cutting the pieces out and a minute of letting it soak in the river he had rushed back to stretch it across the log. It was shaping up beautifully. This part could possibly be placed on without tying it, but it'd be more comfortable if the person did so- and he had to attach it together, too. But first, he needed a break. Reaching for another urn, Attikias took a swig of the fruity, non-alcoholic contents, sniffing and wiping his mouth. He sat back at his bench, staring at his work- he was making good progress. And then, he got back to business. The bone needle threaded a thicker rope of leather this time through the pieces, attaching parts or creating eyeholes for securing the piece on. It was really looking good now, and it did look accurate- after all, he could just glance at the deer statue if he needed anatomy help. When Attikias finally finished, he rocked back and groaned, stretching- already, he was a bit tired, but he still had a lot more to make. Noticably, the pelt capes to keep people warm, the little armors for other people, the armor for Carja and Asteri- all of it was a bit much, but he'd do it. He had to. RE: in the deep forest green - Attikias - Jan 21 2021 It would be best to get the tougher parts out of the way. He had Carja's saddle right now- hooks could be easily sewn in, places to tie about armor through, and he stepped about closer to it /roll e
(I haven't been using resourceful because I figured that'd be more on the fly stuff, if you didn't bring the materials for it and/or looking to do it fast? idk i hope im not gaming the system or something ]: ) |
