CAVES [free landscape shop] - Researcher - Jan 28 2021 *screams from the depths of hell* Want a cool cave drawing with your gembounds in it? Want a cool cave drawing in general? Well then you're in luck! Lizz over here is having a momentâ„¢ obsessing over cave geography, so she decided to open a request shop for all your underground landscape needs! Each one's completely free! No magicka needed here! That being said, the quality and level of complete-ness may vary from simple sketches to full color drawings depending on how I'm feeling. If you have a specific request please ask. Please let me know:
-- Cave/tunnel (can do non-Origin subterranean landscapes if you give me a good description) -- Subarea if needed -- General theme/aesthetic in a few words Not required, but it helps: -- Specific cave formations you want drawn (see below) -- color schemes or complex aesthetics -- Characters and profile link-- remember these are landscape drawings, so they won't be the focus -- Specific angles, layouts or compositions -- Do you want it sketchy, lined, fully colored, etc.? Table or Avatar-ready? Fire away! I don't have a specific request code for this one, so feel free to just nudge me if you want one~~ Hold up. What's a cave formation?![]() Glad you asked! Because I barely know myself, but they sure do look pretty. Here's a super simple, horridly not-to-scale doodle showing some of them. Blue dots signify a structure only occurs in very wet places, and orange (just deflected stalactites) only occur in highly windy areas. And if you want more info than that, here's some quick blurbs I copied from discord: balloons-- unclear origin, believed to be when a liquidy mineral thing called moonmilk reacts with minerals and forms a gassy balloon. trays-- water seeping through cracks causes mineral "popcorns" to form, later the movement of water forces it into a flat shape. showerheads-- mineral-rich water flows in a waterfall, causing the minerals to solidify around it into a tube. deflected stalactites-- when dripping water forms stalactites in windy conditions. think monoceros. soda straws-- the first stage of stalactites, water drips readily from them, very fragile and long. drapery-- when calcite-rich water flows over an overhang, making beautifully thin sheets. stalactite-- when water drips from the rooftops, slowly causing a point of minerals to form. eridanus mentions lots of them. column-- when a stalactite and a stalagmite fuse together after eons of dripping. very sturdy. cave clouds-- form on roofs of water caves super soaked with calcium carbonate (the thing that makes eggshells). flowstone-- water gently flowing from a river or stream smooths out the rock and adds thin layers. boxwork-- jagged sheets of dull crystal, formed when rock cracks fill with calcite and later erode away. folia-- found near calm water sources from minerals condensing as the water level rises and falls. bottlebrush-- when a stalactite grows so long to dip below the water and minerals start condensing on the tip. tower cones-- rafts that grew too dense and sink to the bottom accumulate in soft points. shelf stone-- rafts and calcite that attach to the edges of a body of water and form jagged shelves. stalagmites-- the inverse of stalactite, often forms from water dripping from the ceiling onto the ground. splattermites-- a variation of stalagmites that happen when the water falls very heavily from a tall ceiling (think pisces) and makes the cone deformed. spar-- accumulated crystals on the bottom of pools, can be left behind when the water dries up. rafts-- when minerals in a still body of water coalesce into thin sheets, like lilypads. pearls-- water dripping from above loses carbon dioxide and gains calcite, slowly forming into mineral balls over long periods of time. bathtub stalagmite-- when a heavy amount of water simultaneous causes minerals to grow and erodes the ground away, making a bowl shape. i do not suggest bathing in there. mud stalagmites-- not a true stalagmite, form when dripping water slowly erodes dirt or mud into jagged canyons. aragonite-- just a cool crystal that tends to grow in "bushes", apparently cave scholars really hate it when you remind them theyre often found next to calcite bushes. cave drama give us the forbidden bushes. shield-- weird wet calcite forms a second wall next to a wall because it can. blisters-- similar to balloons but without the air bubble, are typically smaller and made of different minerals. corraloid-- super duper common, little bumby shapes that form around water. one form's called "death coral," always forms on the ground and is sorta spooky. cave flowers-- pretty crystalline blooms formed from minerals seeping through cracks and coalescing. RE: CAVES [free landscape shop] - Child - Jan 28 2021 could I get a drawing with Child at the crystal river in Polaris? melancholy theme to fit his little existential crisis go wild otherwise! i trust you know his aesthetic very well :P the only thing I ask is to exclude cave flowers from the picture; they set off my botanophobia :pensive: RE: CAVES [free landscape shop] - Carja - Jan 28 2021 i know you've been on a dragon binge lately so maybe carja flying near the ceiling? :0 either eridanus' ceiling or anywhere you'd think would be cool jsigfojg RE: CAVES [free landscape shop] - Matthieu - Feb 02 2021 ![]() Citizen! This one's fairly simple just to start off with. Artwork also sent through discord~~ |
