FAQ Compilation - Bravo - May 05 2015

I'll update this post with new questions as they come along. If you have any that you've asked yourself already or have just thought of for this list's sake: post! :) Or PM me, I don't care. These might get added to the guidebook in the future.

Is there weather in the cave?
There are small weather systems - or in the case of the Monoceros, large systems - which fluctuate throughout the cave. There are hot rooms, cold rooms, misty rooms, super windy rooms of death, and who knows what else - you've gotta explore to find out!

Are smaller species (rodents, smaller lizards, etc) allowed?
Not at this time. Smaller critters would be considered food for Gembounds, so most of the smaller species living within the cave are NPC / edible and without gems.

What do the Gembound creatures eat?
Carnivores can live off of the smaller critters such as rodents, lizards, and fish. They can also hunt any larger animals around which might be born without gems (or, to be terrifying but realistic, Gembounds too!). Herbivores have a wide array of things they can eat in various rooms. If carnivores choose, they can also buy a spell which allows them to digest plant matter and become vegetarians, since plants are in abundance.

Can Gembound creatures die?
Yes. If their gem is damaged then their life flow is cut off, so they'd die. If enough damage to their physical body occurs, then the body will die and potentially leave the gem behind.

What happens if the Gembound body dies but the crystal is left behind?
Then the gem can be infused with new magic, such as with the 'give magic' spell, and a new chrysalis will form. The new Gembound would essentially be a child again, and a mix of their previous species and the new (the 'parent' that added the magic). If this spell is not used, then the gem would become dormant, or would attract golems.

Can the attached stone be an ore like gold? Are there limits to size/shape?
It can be any precious gem, including various types of ore. There is at least one Gembound with a feldspar gem, and feldspar is a type of mineral - not a true 'gemstone' such as ruby or sapphire; however, this is allowed. Size and shape are left very open. You can only have one stone, which is internal or external, and it can break through the skin in the form of horns, tusks, or anything else you can imagine - replacing limbs, bones, major organs, and muscle groups.

Can we play extinct animals or dinosaurs?
No. Only animals which are currently alive at this very moment. If something went extinct last year that you wanted to play, we could discuss it, but something from prehistoric times would be a firm no.

Can we join quests that are already in progress?
Always! Quests are open to everyone, no matter who is already participating, and no matter what is going on in that moment. If you want to dive in, feel free!

RE: FAQ Compilation - Leon - May 12 2015

There were some questions in the staff board, so here are some answers:

How does breeding work?
see Game Mechanics -> Reproduction in the Guidebook

What if two gems have internal stones?
One can give magic, the other one has to give stone; the stone is gonna have to come out of them somehow, probably in a very painful way.

How does death work?
You die, your body breaks down, the stone is left behind.

If adults can reform from a solitary gemstone (granted it is intact) what does that mean?
The same character doesn't reform from stone. If the stone is still magically imbued (or given magic a second time) it has a chance to form a whole new Gembound.

Do revived gembounds have their old memories? Are they different species after?
"Revived" gembounds wouldn't be the same creature as the previous gembound. They may, however, retain some fleeting memories of the previous gembound (which could be cool), or some personality traits.

Should there be a revive spell in the shop or should gembounds get revived in the same way babies get made?
You can't revive your character after they die, unfortunately. However it is up to you if you want a new gembound to form from the previous one's gem.

What happens if a stone is damaged?
Thats in the guidebook. If your stone is damaged, your magic is weakened and your body becomes physically weaker until you can repair your stone (somebody with Earth magic would be able to do this). Note - using the "give stone" spell doesn't damage your stone.

What happens when the body is damaged?
The body can get injured just like normal. If you receive mortal injuries, you die. However, the magic of your stone (if intact and not damaged) can help you heal faster.

What happens if the stone is removed?
RIP you die.

Can "internal stone" gembounds have offspring together?
Sure, but somebody is probably gonna get hurt real bad!

RE: FAQ Compilation - Origin Cave - May 13 2015

For individuals having issues seeing the Magicka Market while in a new group:

Quote:Go to your User CP and in the top of the far right column of links, there's one that says Group Memberships.

At the bottom of that page, it will say "Groups you are a member of." and below that, the Lone Gembound and The Bonebound groups (or whichever group you've joined).

Your group should be there and there should be a link that says "[ Set as Display Group ]."

Click that and viola, your character's group icon and color will change.

This should also give you access to the marketplace.

RE: FAQ Compilation - Leon - May 13 2015

Every time I make a new group, I have to reset the visibility for every category in the Magicka shop, so if there's a group that can't see it please let me know so I can fix it! You shouldn't have to change your display group or anything, but if you still can't see it, that'll be a quick fix until I can actually set the visibility.

RE: FAQ Compilation - Ovid - May 14 2015

For people experiencing the magicka transfer error:

If your account has an apostrophe in the name, it messes with the forum. So when you send magicka and getting an error saying something broke, the magicka still sent. You don't lose magicka though. Its a bit of a money hack!

If you have a character with an apostrophe in its name, please let a staff member know and one of us will edit your account name. Any excess magicka generated by this error should be sent to the Spire account (if you have made a ridiculous amount). Please do not use this error to generate a boatload of magicka!
