Baby Barbequing - Sharp - May 07 2021 The cottage was quiet. Rough mud walls were covered in a fine layer of pollen. A shoddily thatched roof was dwarfed by the cool shadows of ancient trees. Both big and small, well-worn pawprints formed a trail leading in, where dappled light fell upon a little lizard and her hoard of gemstones. She dropped the newest one on the pile, a black gemstone stained with mud. Her dark eyes admired its shine. It was beautiful. Sure, it'd take a bit more polishing before it really stood out, but not every shiny needs to be perfectly shiny immediately. Sometimes it takes time. A faint sound. Sharp's horned head turned toward the empty doorway before realizing it was just a faraway meadow deer. Ever so subtly, her face drooped. It had been a while since anyone else came around. Not friends, family, nor customers. Just Sharp and the bugs. Sure, she was certain they were off on grand, exciting adventures ('whatever happened to that Ursa thing, anyways?') but sometimes a lizard just wants company, y'know? Possibly reacting to this, her magic subconsciously flared out towards the onyx between her claws. She didn't notice. Sharp shook the wistfulness out of her head and scurried away from the gem hoard without a second thought. She had work to do and things to sell. |
