i was relieved to know he'd approved of my own name, gwazi, lest i'd change it! he invited me somewhere, to follow him, to embrace his family. instinctively, this was something my mind urged me to do. so i nodded in a respectful agreement.

"yes louie, i'd like that. "

small, childish voice escaped in little tones as i pivoted to look down at the creature. still wondering, why we were so different. from the looks of it, i had long, pillar like legs that ended in cleaved hooves, while his legs were - while still slender - ending in paws and were fuzzier than mine. i wanted to ask him, but maybe when we're in his home.

"lead the way!"

i exclaimed, excited to follow this little louie, wherever the vile yet terribly intriguing creature would take me.

Seriously, this had been far too easy and my bad mood over having lost my eye was almost completely erased (almost....). Raising an eyebrow as his attention was on going to where I had suggested we go, I was pleased. Definitely, he was working out to be a worthy addition and though this would've appeared strange to some I knew this undying loyalty came when one was met with their supposed "savior". At least I got to be the savior this time, before one of those goody-two-shoes brats came along.

"Don't fall too far behind, if I lose track of you too bad kid, you're on your own." Babysitting wasn't my forte. Despite my need for him, I wasn't about to play nursery to the Gemling. If it came to that I'd shove him on Diamondfang. She seemed to have more motherly attributes than I did fatherly. Thinking about her in that way certainly made me feel weird and I dashed the thought. Focus.

Heading towards the tunnel entrance, I wasn't really sure what else to talk about. It's not like he'd done much, he had literally just hatched. "Within this cave, there are groups. Many of them are evil and want everyone to pretend everyone else is equal. We are not equal. We are all different and that's what makes us special. Don't let anyone say you are equal to a bird. I for one know I am not on the physical calibre as a wolf, but I damn well will try and outsmart one." Not even sure if I was making sense to the babe, I tried to put on a sweet smile and failed miserably as it morphed back into the ever present smirk.

"You are also a herbivore. There are things in this cave that would prefer to eat you rather than call you friend so watch out for that mmk?"

this oh so lovely creature offered me a warning of sorts. i was a.. what'd he call it? herbivore? so other things would want to eat me, while i only wanted veggies. i filed this away deep in my mind to refer to later. i was truly thankful he was giving me these life lessons. he instructed me to not fall behind, so i would be sure to keep up as much as i possibly could.

"got it."

little tones confirmed along with a curt nod of the horned muzzle. my short tail gave a wave as he then continued on speaking. not the physical caliber of a wolf? what was a wolf? but oh, louie could outsmart them. i smiled at this, and inwardly vowed to protect him against these wolves he speaks of.

"thank you,"

i peeped, hushing these words as much as i could so that way he didn't view my gratitude as weakness. or he may value my appreciation. i didn't know, he seemed so unstable with his anger. but in any case, i couldn't deny that i was entirely dependent on this fiery creature.

Gaze cast down the tunnel, I knew at the end lay home and also my soon to be realized mutation put on display for everyone to see. Hoping, it would be interpreted as battle scars, warrior scars, I looked to the new ungulate creature I had "befriended". What struck me was when he had said thank you and this made me feel both sick and a sense of satisfaction. But also, entirely empty. Not really sure why, I just snorted and looked back down the tunnel, unable to really see how far away everything was but knowing it wouldn't take long to reach the other side, "Don't. I repeat seriously fucking don't say that."

Not allowing myself to look at him again, I just tried to play out situations of what would be waiting for me when I arrived home. I hadn't been gone long, it would be easy to slip back into daily life without too much interference and I had brought a new addition so Fang should be pleased. Though after what he had said to me, I wasn't sure I wanted to keep him around. It made me feel as though I was weak, nothing more than a creature to be thanked and used. No. I was stronger than that. No one should thank me they should fear me. Tense and with my jaw sore from how hard I'd started clenching it from this ill gotten thank you, I disappeared into the dark.

i followed swiftly. making sure to keep up with him although staying just behind him so that he could be in the lead. and my second thoughts about thanking him were true, he'd hated that. i couldn't help but grin a little bit as he spat his hatred for it at me. he the driver, i the passenger, it was rather amusing although i did in fact file that piece of information away for safe keeping. i won't pull out that gratitude until he saves my life or something- again. dark carmine lenses observed him before looking up and around the area we were headed in and where we were passing. i tried to map it all out mentally, but we were moving too fast for me to pay attention to real detail. perhaps when i'm older i can figure things out all alone, without louie's scrutinizing eye and criticizing words. even though those things were just that, i did appreciate them. already, i was being molded into something more durable, something that could survive with or without someone. i'd say thank you again but..we all know how that turns out.

horned muzzle shifted, still taking in my scenery as he lead the way. i allowed silence to cloak us, unwilling to ask more questions and or irritate the little creature, for fear he'd jump up and snag my throat right from my skin. it wasn't something too entirely far fetched, and that's what scared me. but even still, somehow, i respected him enough to follow him and embrace whatever it was he wanted to introduce to me. and at these thoughts, i smiled a bit as we walked on.
