Bacchus could be plenty patient, when he cared to be. Some of the most intriguing experiments could only have results seen with the passing of time, after all. One did not rush perfection.

Yet, some instinct told him that this child of his was late in hatching, and that grated on his nerves, this rude delay. So Bacchus was not lacking in patience, but he did not yet know whether this child of his deserved his patience.

His tail lashed in annoyance, purple gaze staring down the chrysalis made of topaz of similar color. He had begun to visit the chrysalis every day, often bringing Panya along. Still, all that happened was conversations with Panya, answering questions and such. No signs of any hatching.

Panya was delightful, it was true. She could undoubtedly be part of his legacy. But this chrysalis was not making a similarly good impression, even with it not having hatched yet. Surely this legacy of his should be prompt, after all the effort he had gone through for it.

The being inside the chrysalis did not yet understand the concept of lateness, only knowing that it was in a safe place. The genderless creature, not yet a him nor anything else, simply existed. And the child was content with that, even as its form grew and the cozy home became less so.

Yet, there existed a longing within this being for something more than safety. It did not yet know what awaited it outside of the chrysalis, but whatever surely had to be better than nothingness. It might very well regret this choice, though it knew not of regret during this time.

It knew not of many things at the moment.

But still, with a crack, the chrysalis broke, an oddly colored leopard cub tumbling out. It looked around with pure teal eyes with a slit of black making up the pupil.

And as it looked around, it felt overwhelmed. There was so much for its senses to take in, and it was scary. And there were other beings!

It did not know where to start with anything.

Panya groaned with boredom. She'd long grown tired of waiting for the.. rock... to crack, and now every time her and Bacchus came to visit- which was, in her opinion, far too often- she became accustomed to lazing about. Even now, she lay on her side, rolling occasionally onto her back to bat stray paws at Bacchus' long tail.

"When's this thing gonna hatch?" She whined, giving a scrutinizing look towards its shimmering surface. "Its been, like, a million years." The cub tacked on, the epitome of theatrics.

All it did was sit there. At first, she was obsessed. The idea of new life emerging from something like that fascinated her. It was beautiful! Now, she found it rather dull. She hoped her hatching was much more exciting, because the boredom of watching and waiting had been chipping away at her already short attention span more and more. As Bacchus probably knew, considering the amount of times she'd told him, the girl would rather be hunting. Or chasing bugs. Or watching dirt dry.

Panya glanced up at the taller feline, clamping her mouth shut with an audible click before she made another comment. She knew he had a limit to her sometimes (all the times) obnoxious remarks. Mid thought, though, she heard the most exciting sound of her life. A crack! She scrambled to her paws, bounding forward to sniff at it and barely restraining herself from throwing her entire body against it. The lioness squealed, throwing her weight to and fro and dancing circles around the- now he was a father? Isn't that cool!

Before she could even speak, out fell a little creature. It looked just like Bacchus- except, well, not really. It was blue. Panya wrinkled her nose, shooting a bewildered look from her companion and back to the shrimpy cub. She'd long since learned how the gemling came to be, what its other half was, but somehow she didn't expect this. She chided herself internally, it was important not to be that rude! Only a little.

"HELLO!" She cried, after it had started to move. She expected a proper hello back, but quickly moved away, thinking better of getting in Bacchus' way of meeting his own child.
