Appearance:
Weighing about forty pounds, this distinctly raccoon-like beast was squat, hefty, and required all four wings to get airborne. It was countershaded in flaming colors, marked in sooty black with stripes across tail, wings, keratinous horns, and its furred mask. Though not fireproof, it was resilient in terms of extreme heat, capable of withstanding short periods in flame due to a fire-retardant coating of oil in its thick, insulating fur. It also had a much higher than normal body temperature, at about 120'F. This necessitated living in very warm areas, or consuming large amounts of food to maintain a high metabolism.

The creature was omnivorous, capable of eating just about anything organic for sustenance; its internal digestive system ran extremely hot, extracting nutrients and forming gases that were stored in flame sacs within the throat. These gases were used alongside fire magic to breathe pure flame at prey or enemies. Small clawed hands could manipulate even fine objects like locks or keys, or lend themselves to crafting work. A barbed scorpion-like stinger in the end of the black-tipped tail injected a venom that gave off a horrible sensation of burning throughout the body, though it wasn't otherwise dangerous.
