Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.
When she emerged from the beautiful chrysalis, she had been content. She had herself a family - a mother, a father, a brother and a sister. By all accounts, she should have been happy over the next few days. She admired her mother's agile frame, her father's determination to protect his family, her brother's odd little ways and her sister's way of carrying herself with such confidence.
And yet, she hated herself.
Ever since she looked into the water and seen herself - shaped like a lion, but with the bulk of a bear - she had wondered why she didn't inherit more from her mother. She was ugly. She was misshapen. Pieces of her fur: a stripe below her cheek, the rims of her ears, the rims of her tail - seemed to just forget to be the same colour as the rest of her, which she didn't like, either. She loved her mother's golden coat and her father's thick brown fur - but what was she? Colourless, bland.
The only thing she even dared to consider 'okay' were her eyes. Deep, firey orange. The same colour as her father's, but two tiny orbs were nothing compared to the rest of her. The fat. The horrible, ugly face. The pink nose that was too big.
It was something she couldn't bring up with the rest of her family. It didn't come up in casual conversation, after all - she couldn't just mention it over dinner. She was left to sit by the riverside, obsessing over ever minute detail. She could hear them behind her - her siblings playing contentedly with each other, her parents musing over their 'perfect' children. Surely, they must have meant Cadence and Baroque. They could see how disgusting their daughter was compared to their other children.
She didn't belong. She knew she didn't. Their happiness - it infuriated her. The anger kept building up - boiling like furious lava in her chest. From the corner of her eye, she caught the huge, golden paws or Baroque. He had opened his maw to speak, but she was quick to interrupt him.
"What do you want?!" snapped the cub. She could hear her parents' disapproval of her tone, but it didn't stop her from continuing. She noted the hurt look in her brother's face, but the anger had already taken over. "Stupid nitwit! Leave me alone and go back to your stupid stuff!"
She watched the golden mass of fur slowly slink away back to his other sister. She didn't feel guilty. In fact, she felt relief. She turned back to the water, observing herself again for a moment. With hunched shoulders, the little cub lowered her head to her paws, once more obsessing over her appearance in silence.
