Lord Hasira...? Deadnettle blinked when he heard the name. What was a lord? Did that mean that Papa ruled over others? He smiled, a quiet sign of affection compared to his sister's bright and cheerful laughing. Their papa was someone important, someone who guided others, that was what being a lord meant. Maybe he got those scars by protecting someone. He and his sister were really lucky.

He listened while his sister gave up on saying Papa's name out loud and just called him by his endearing title, and he nodded, more from the weight of his head than anything else. His neck was starting to hurt a little. If she would just call him Papa, so would he.

Nettle got out of the way when she crashed through her shell, chanting 'hungee hungee' with her infectious laughter. He nodded again, looking to their Papa. He wasn't sure what being hungry was, but if Fever was hungry than so was he.

The stag nodded his head and unfolded his long legs so that he could stand. To his "children" he said, "Wait here." First lesson in obedience, listen to "papa" at all times. Listen and there would be a reward, as they would come to find. The stag then turned and trotted away where he knew Beast had planted a few berries for growing.

In the time that had passed the berries had sprouted into a few bushes which the great stag plucked a mouthful of stems laden with blueberries from. The whole process took only a couple of minutes but he wondered how well the rhino twins had listened. Now, he turned and made his way back to the pair, taking his time, testing them to see if they would wait or not.

When he finally arrived he dropped the stems on the ground in front of them and said, "Good things come to those who wait." He looked them in the eye with a smile, either way would be a lesson. "Berries for you, my little ones, eat up."

She bounced up and down when Papa said to wait - no, she didn't want to wait, she wanted to see what food was! She took a couple of steps towards Papa as they retreated a ways away, but her brother made a sound, and she looked back at him, watching as he shook his head. She frowned, but she understood - Papa said to wait, and Nettle wanted her to wait.

She sat down with a huff, pouting that she couldn't get her way, but as she looked away to study a nearby building, she felt Nettle come up to her and sit next to her, leaning on her shoulder. Fever grinned and pushed them back a little, playfully, enjoying the hug-not-hug, enjoying the feel of her brother close to her. She felt like...she felt as if she could feel Nettle telling her to be calm and wait. So she did. She sat patiently, enjoying the quiet.

And when Papa came back, she smiled up at him, then at the stems with these pretty little black bubbles on the ends.

"Good things come to those who wait," Papa said, and she half-pondered this while the leaned down and started plucking the berries off of the stems with her delicate lips. They tasted so good and sweet! She nudged the rest over to her brother, saying, "Yum! Eat!"

He saw that his sister wanted to run after Papa, but she called to her softly, making her turn around. Papa said to stay put, and he knew that if she gave into her impulses, she would get upset later on. It was easy to see that, easy to know what she would do; he could read her easily, know her intentions. He knew she understood when she sat back down with a huff, but her being just a tiny bit upset over this was better than possibly seeing her cry if Papa got upset with her.

She was so easy to understand. He moved over to her and leaned on her, closing his eyes as he felt her furnace-like heat, comforted to the core of his soul, feeling sanguine. This was good, wasn't it? Just sitting here? It's okay, Fever, it's okay to just sit here and wait for Papa to come back. This isn't so bad. He felt like he never wanted to leave, never wanted to do anything else but sit here and protect her.

But of course, nothing lasted forever. Soon Papa came back bearing a gift, setting it down in front of them, and when he spoke, Nettle nodded, actually agreeing with his words. Waiting wasn't so bad. He waited more while his sister tested out the berries for the first time, and smiled when she showed delight, passing them over to him.

He looked up towards Papa and politely said, "Thank you," before leaning down again to taste them. She was right; they were really good.

After they were both done, she grinned up at Papa with her teeth stained blue from the berries and she leaned up against her Papa's leg. "Thank 'u, Papa!" She said happily, feeling well loved and satisfied.

Could any of this every better? She had a brother and a Papa and she wasn't hungry and she had a wonderful sweet taste in her mouth, and to her, the whole world was an open place to explore and see and adventure through! She couldn't wait to go out and see it all!

How could this day get any better?

Deadnettle had finished his portion first, so he simply sat back on his haunches and watched his sister go at the berries with unrelenting happiness, and he just smiled a her. She was perfect, she was wonderful, and he would protect her till the end of his days.

No matter what happened, he would stand by her.

How could this day possibly be better?

He children fed and were happy and so was he, for now. They would eat and grow and become strong so that in turn they could protect him. The great little powerhouses that they were. "Of course, my children, anytime."
