She watched Giga carefully with something akin to affection starting to warm up in her heart. She really liked the pure-hearted bird, she liked her earnest desire to help, and she liked her focus. And she kept her smile as they both watched the cut on her hand slowly knit itself together, forming neat scar tissue. She turned around her hand and opened and closed it, feeling the new flesh, and she grinned now, her little fangs glinting. "Congratulations, Giga, you've healed your first wound." And softly, she added, "I'm glad you're here too."

"Now, this spell won't work for everything, and you have to keep that in mind. It won't heal burned flesh or huge lacerations, but it will help if you come across someone who is suffering and in a lot of pain from, let's say, poison or electricity, for some examples. You can numb the pain with this spell and push out poison and most minor illnesses from the body."

She pointed to the big gash on her knee that she'd gotten from a nasty fall whilst trying to climb up one of the buildings in Orion. "This one wouldn't heal with that spell. It would really help, but you'd either have to heal this with poultices and bandaging or with a weaving spell, so I'll show you both."

"Keep in mind that no one is perfect," She laughed a little. "And even doctors can mess up."

With that, she lowered her gaze to her knee with a wistful smile, and her gem finger glowed with a soft golden light. Little plant tendrils raised their little fingers through her skin and weaved themselves together in and over the wound, knitting the flesh together.

"This spell you have to monitor, because the plant matter will rot, and you have to remove it once it's healing sufficiently. This spell in particular is for huge wounds that need to close, like...big gaping holes in one's chest, or long lacerations down the back." Her mind flashed to Bog, and she shook the thought away.

"Now, to bind such a wound, just in case magic doesn't work..." She eyed Giga's wings and bit her bottom lip a little. "You may be able to get away with asking those to do as you ask, so knowing how to make this is half the battle." She opened her pack and took out some red flowers and some blue leaves she'd collected. "I'll show you where to get these later. This one brings down inflammation, kills infection, and this one numbs the pain. So you put this into a bowl..." She showed her large acorn bowl she used. "And a medium," She poured some honey into the acorn and pulled out a nice round stone, "And mash it all together into a nice even goop. The honey will make the leaves stick and seal the wound in an air-tight substance and won't rot." With her fingers, she brushed the goop onto the woven skin, then took some clean cloth and wound it around her knee and patted down the cloth onto the honey so it stuck tight, then tied it all off.

"You have to make sure everything you use is clean...so having water on hand is generally quite useful. Those are two ways to bind a wound," She said. "Hopefully you won't come across anyone that needs such serious attention till much later in your life."

The congratulations she received and the mutual gladness made her overflow with joy. The words that followed were soaked up as well as the first bits of information, but now it seemed to mean just a little more. ...because she's glad I'm here, she thought to herself.

Giga followed Cayenne's actions to the gash on her leg, cringing a little at how painful it looked. She inspected it, trying to memorize how bad it was in comparison to the cut, so she would be prepared for such in the future. The weave spell Cay cast did make her flinch, though, but made herself watch it in it's entirety. She would see more in the future, so might as well get used to it.

Binding definitely seemed tricky, but Giga felt her confidence shine. "Don't doubt me," she said boldly. She could see when Cayenne looked at her wings. She knew her friend meant well, but if she came across someone in dire need, she would still do everything she could. "You cannot doubt me, Mama Cay."

Cayenne raised a brow with a soft smile when the young bird told her not to doubt her.

That cleansing spell wouldn't heal anything when one would come across a gem with their guts spilled across the ground and them drowning in a pool of blood, and that was the unfortunate truth.

But then the bird continued and called her something, something she was unexpecting to the extent that she almost didn't hear it the first time till she replayed it in her head. What....?

She blinked slowly, her brows knitting together in disbelief, her mouth slightly open. "Wha...what did you call me?" She said, in a quiet voice.

Gigatsuhali watched her reaction, lowering her head a little as concern started to creep upon her. Hopefully what she had said wasn't a no-no. With beak almost touching the ground, she took a deep breath and said, "I-I called you... Mama Cay." She sank the rest of the way to the ground, blue eyes shining up at Cayenne with the hope that claiming her as a mama would be acceptable and not ruin the friendship she had just made. "I-I'm sorry, Cayenne," she said softly.

She stared for a full two seconds, then snapped out of it and reached for Giga, her hands touching the child's beak and raising her head up. "No- no no no, don't fee- don't say sorry, I wasn't-" Her words all jumbled over themselves with her emotions and her thoughts all in a twist. She hardly know what to think, she could hardly form a straight thought in her head, but she pushed out, "Don't be sorry, Giga."

She petted Giga's fluffy head with its baby down feathers, soothing herself more with the action than the child, and she took a slow breath. "Don't be sorry. You can call me that, its just- it just caught me off guard, that's all. No one's ever called me that."

"I don't....have...a family." She said slowly, giving her a bittersweet smile. "So I was surprised, that's all."

Gigatsuhali felt her head lift, careful and soft hands touching her face and head. She looked up at Cayenne, then scooted as close as she could before pushing her head up against Cayenne's shoulder, nuzzling a little. She then scooted back, head still low, but eyes a little brighter again. "I want to be your family," she said. She saw Cayenne's smile and smiled back, weakly. She was still unsure, still a little embarrassed and tad afraid that Cay would be driven away, ultimately. "You make me feel safe and smart and you are so kind." She glanced up at the stars, then looked back at her new mama. She nuzzled her again, blue eyes closing. Maybe it was weird, she didn't know. Her life so far had been short, but didn't feel like it. The simplest acts of kindness meant the world to her. So why not make this one who has shown her a special kindness... her mama? ---- "Speech" Thoughts OOC: words @Cayenne

Giga came up and nuzzled her shoulder, and she felt her throat clog up now. She wrapped her arms around the bird child, her eyes bright.

"We can be a family," She said, her voice barely above a whisper. She barely dared to believe it, but she wanted to with a desperation, like she was hanging off the edge of a cliff for her dear life and this was her strength to climb up. "We can. I'll teach you what I know, Gigatsuhali, I will. This I promise."

So She settled herself and tucked her and Giga into the most comfortable position she possibly could, and continued to teach her methods of healing until long in the day, and somewhat into the night.

Giga's mind held tight to the words, like Cayenne's arms held her. Happiness buzzed within her chest, heart beat strong as the kindness provided her with a special kind of life-force. "Thank you... Mama." The position she was adjusted into was one of peace and comfort, safety a blanket about her.
