the beast had been dormant for far longer this time; he had not anticipated it, but perhaps the many fragments he consumed had caused an extended sleep. he had been full before. the rare satisfaction of a belly ready to burst! it had been magnificent. briefly he had been at peace - no longer had he harbored the great need, the harrowing desire for wanton gluttony - but as he woke now, he felt it. was awakened by it. a great yearning -- oh, this hunger, it was worse than the last! the beast stirred; his great reptilian body laying half-curled within the crystal river, where last he had slunk away and burrowed. netil shifted his weight and the river's course diverted. he moved his head and the soil broke. it was like the hatching of a newborn all over again, with dust and debris falling from his toughened hide. his head came clear of the riverbed first, and with a bit of wiggling so too came his forelimbs, his wings -- and once he could spread the great leather-shard covered limbs, he broke himself free. netil's white-eyed stare drifted across the darkness of his surroundings, catching gleaming blue from the crystals and mushrooms that littered his periphery, and with a sharp breath he let out a fierce bellow.

At some point, Ghanyarah had lost track of his son. He had stopped seeing him in Cetus and began to wonder if the hybrid was out wandering the rest of the caves, learning about what lie beyond the fringes of his home. The komodo thus allowed his son that freedom. Granted he had worried of him the whole time, even fretted that he had made a poor decision in allowing his slow minded, ever hungry child to wander unsupervised. But maybe that was what he needed. After all, Ghanyarah hadn't grown into himself until he'd learned more of the ways of the world. He hadn't become himself until he learned what it meant to be a predator, as opposed to being prey - he learned his place in the food chain. Maybe Netil had to do the same.

It wasn't until somebody had informed the reptile that they'd spotted a morganite chrysalis in Polaris that Ghanyarah realized how wrong he was. Something had happened to return the hybrid to his chrysalis, leaving Ghanyarah without his son and feeling... guilty. Such a strange emotion. It plagued him and he hated it.

As soon as he was able, the komodo had left Cetus and followed the path from memory to the core. When he'd arrived he was greeted with a familiar bellow - he was too late, his son had emerged. At least he was alive. But still, Ghanyarah had neglected to care for his chrysalis the way he had when Netil was first developing. Gulping down his guilt, the reptile bounded towards the sound. He skirted across the dusty floor and the rubble, raising his head and peering upon the great, black mass that spread its wings, briefly reminded of the dragon, Raheerah.

This was no monster... It was his son. Ghanyarah drew forward another slow step. "Netil." He spoke evenly, then fell silent. Waiting for some kind of recognition.

@Netil

The world had not changed during the long sleep - or maybe the reptile was still too groggy from his waking to recognize the changes. All he does know is that his rising, this second coming, has left him mindless like a newborn all over again. He is blank, weary, dizzy, and must clamber up the steep edge of the river with great care lest he trip and fall. As Netil pulls himself free of the last dredges of river stone, he noodles his way up the ridge until he was perched more firmly upon the bank.

Whatever fatality the beast had warranted for his rebirth, it did not show now. There were no indications of wounds along the dorsal side of his hide, while the ventral side remained half-buried in debris as he came to a settling point. Once the majority of dust settled - and he, holding his head high and level with some tall, glowing fungi - Netil's attention was drawn towards a brief sound. He turned his narrow face, then the forefront of his body, and dropped his head so that one white eye was in line with the figure.

"Faa-ther," the beast drones with a breath, his mouth opening just slightly to wheeze the word, and then partially closes. His teeth gleam with the blue light of their surroundings; and then the reptile twists again, sliding along against the ground as he edges closer, predatory despite recognizing @Ghanyarah -- his voice holds no warmth, but that was not odd for Netil. "Netil.. rememberrrs." Yes, he knows his father, which is perhaps why Ghanyarah has not been consumed for his caloric value.
