Her mind was empty as she refused to focus on the past and didn't have the strength to focus on the future. So, she just allowed her mind to exist and focus on the menial tasks she had to do such as walking and scenting her way to a place she knew well. Perhaps subconsciously she wanted to see if her old friend was still around or if the cave had claimed him as well. Perhaps she just wanted to unload on him everything that had happened thus far... Surely not
everyone was dead or missing. Surely she could find someone...
But... Did she really want to see anyone? After all that had happened? After all, she was a monster now... How could she ever speak to anyone again after what had happened? They'd turn her away.
Crunch.
The lioness paused, small paws lifting ever so slightly as she looked to see what it was that she stepped on. There were shards... Shards of Mookite and Aquamarine like her own. The lioness' eyes widened... Those shards... They looked so familiar. That Mookite... Didn't Cancer have a stone like that? Makyna could feel her breaths coming out quicker and quicker in sharp gasps as realization dawned on her. Had... Had he died?
I was never able to make amends... As far as she knew the leopard died thinking she still hated his guts. She had but now with everything that had happened Cancer's transgressions hardly meant anything. Life was too short and they'd known each other too long for her never to forgive him.
Now it was too late...
Blue-eyed gaze flashed over to the aquamarine shards... who did they belong to? Sonata? She was born of aquamarine... The thought sent a punch to her gut but the lioness recovered herself. No... No that wasn't right. Sonata's stone didn't look like that... but who? It hit her in a flash. A white she-cat, a meowing... Mau. This belonged to Mau. She was dead too? Oh no...
The lioness staggered backwards. More friends... Lost to the taint of the caves. Her eyes opened wide but they were unseeing, she could only catch glimpses of the past. Of friends she'd lost. So hard she tried to bury the memories but now they were flooding back, tears threatened to fall from her eyes...
How many more would she find dead?
