A reddish gem lay in the midst of a large, misty cave. A cycle had passed since this gem had been infused with magic, and a life had begun to take form within it. And now, this life was ready to free itself from the shell it had been trapped in. A small crack appeared on one side of it, and grew larger and larger with every second. Finally, the stone was split in half, and inside huddled a small brown kitten.

The kitten carefully pushed the top of the stone off of him and took a cautious step out of his chrysalis. All around him was nothing but mist - all he could see was himself and the gem he had just escaped from. The young cat began to shake with fear as questions flooded his mind - where was he, why was it so misty, and what was this anomaly stuck to his chest? Terrified, he stayed close to his former shelter, hoping someone would find him.

Kailia was lost in the mist, wandering around the cave as she peered out, trying to find someone. Really, she didn't see the feline until she almost ran onto him. For a moment, she stopped, attention on the stone near his tail. But she was soon forgetting it. A friend! This one could be a friend! She just had to play her cards right, she supposed. "Play!" Without another word, she launched herself at the feline, hoping to knock him over playfully.

Tyler saw the canine before she seemed to notice him. She was small, but still a bit larger than him. Before he even knew what was happening, the doberman had shouted a word and attempted to tackle him. Surprise and fear rushed through him before he realized that the dog had hit poorly, and he had barely managed to keep his balance. He turned around so he was facing her again. "What was that for?" he nearly shouted.

At the feline almost shouting at her, Kailia flinched, her ears pinning against her skull as she stared at the feline. Had she started a fight? She didn't want to fight! Hurriedly, she tried to change the subject somehow. She had seen the gem on the feline, but, glancing down, she didn't see one on her. Where was her gem? The small canine was unaware that her gem was hidden underneath her skin at the moment. Reaching one paw out hesitantly, Kailia attempted to poke the cat's stone, head tilting slightly at it.

Tyler

Tyler's ears flattened guiltily as he realized he had scared the dog. She seemed young, almost as young as him, and was probably just as confused as him. His eyes widened in surprise as she reached towards his gem, then contorted into a look of perplexity when he realized she didn't appear to have one of her own. He looked back down at his own. It was reddish-orange, much like the stone he had hatched from. Maybe this canine never hatched from something, and therefore didn't have a stone. He didn't know.
