Deep in the fern trench, a large cluster of jasmine cracked under the fauna. There, below was one gembound who had been away for many cycles. After witnessing the true fury of her beloved, Jasmine had run away into the green of Eridanus, wanting only to clear her head and to forget what she just saw. The rage that flowed from Gada flowed so freely, there was no hesitation, no regret. Was this the full potential of the elephant? Unfortunately, she had been in such a panic, so when she rushed into the green, Jas wasn't aware how close she had been to the trench. That didn't matter much in the end, for by the time she realized the giraffe had smashed into the bottom and only the snapping of bones could be heard.

The pain was sharp, swift and short. It was sure to resonant to Gada that moment, but she had no time to scream or cry. The gem around her neck had already begun to grow and swallow the female whole. There was no easy way out of this, the only way to survive was to sleep.

And sleep she did, for a number of cycles. Ferns had grown over her chrysalis, hiding it from sight if one was to look down into the trench.

Am I alive?

Twiching in her gem, the giraffe became aware. Had she been dreaming this whole time? In a world where Gada was kind and sweet, playing hide and seek. It was a paradise, and all goods things come to an end. The gem that kept her safe, healing her body, was beginning to crack. Jasmine struggled, remembered how hard it was the first time. But, would she wake up alone?

There had been a stress deep in the back of the elephant's mind, constantly digging about and causing a festering irritability. Jasmine had disappeared since that day she slung Belladonna around and broke apart her leg. At first, it seemed like maybe she was going to be able to talk her way out of it, but then... then Jasmine bolted, ran hard and those long legs carried her away so quickly. The very memory of it made the elephant snort hard, mucus spraying from her long trunk whilst her big head shook.

It's unacceptable that she's been along for three cycles! Gadanai bickered within her own head-space, brows furrowed and bright red eyes shining with that particular look. As she paced through her familiar trail - a path worn by her constant watch over her territory - brewing away about things she didn't understand, something stopped her feet and thoughts dead in their tracks. On the other end of that long-missed connection was a tickle of emotion... something Gadanai suddenly realized she hadn't felt all this time. Had something... happened to her treasure?

The awareness was like a mental earthquake and it brought Gadanai down to her four knees with a whining trumpet. The sudden flood was overwhelming; much worse than the initial link she'd formed between them. As it faded and the daze it put her in dissipated, she brought herself back to her big calloused feet and began to head in a direction without thought. Before she knew it, she was charging through the trees, barreling over logs and through the thickest of brush. As she skid to a halt at the edge of the trench, she glared down, green staining and hanging from her tusks from the brutality against the forest foliage.

It was long and tedious, but eventually, Gadanai found herself scaled down a little path, she supposed made by those cave deer. She toppled down the last several meters, but it wasn't enough to cause her any harm; just a bit of bruising, but it was no matter, at this moment. Again, she was back on her feet and heading back into the thick of trees. Maybe they were thicker, as few seemed to ever venture here. As she got closer, that feeling got stronger and she wondered what she would find just through the trees. Between the green, would her precious Jasmine be there, at long last?

Giraffe Elizabeth

The fall the giraffe took those cycles ago must have taken all four of her legs, cracking each one with the drop of her weight. After all, the female was not a petite thing. The pain was long gone, yet still a memory. Never had she felt such a pain, once thinking the cut to her flank would top all. No, that fall would top all now. After all, nothing her love did on accident never put her into a deep sleep, she was never hurt so badly.

Coming to, her mind was a bit fuzzy. Only seeing green . . . oh that's right. Green was always everywhere. Somehow that was a comfort. Green is home. Much like a new hatchling from a gem, her head slowly raised up, the walls of her chrysalis had crumbled away. It was easier this time, this time she was larger and knew to stay calm. Last time she had Troy, but he was long gone. He left her, forgotten her. Would Gada be here? Had she forgotten as well? Did I cross the line? Remembering she had run from her protector, after seeing . . oh yes, now she remembered. Ears pinned back, staying rested in the ferns.

Jasmine wasn't sure what to say to Gadanai now, would the elephant be angered? Disappointed? Or would she understand that the giraffe wasn't one for violence. Even if the doe was supposedly dangerous.

A rumbling in the ground broke her concentration, someone was coming; was it her?

Neck stretched up high and alert, eyes staring in the brush as a figure came rushing in fast at first before slowing to a stop. There stood before the reawaken gembound was the one and only. The grey female with more scares that she remembered. At a lose for words, it took her a moment to speak. ". . it's you." Stupid, that was a stupid thing to say.
