QUESTS/EVENTS
Torrential downpours cause localized flooding and many upset cats. Along with these frequent rain, from gentle drizzles to heavy rainfall, there seems to be a flux of Magicka drawn in particular to water sources. Occasional jet streams of warm air make narrower tunnels harder to navigate. On occasion, the rain intensifies, becoming howling storms with sleet or large hail. However, the temperatures overall are a little warmer, with snow and ice in temperate caves somewhat receding.
The dragon nodded his head, that was all he could ask was for the young pup to try. Baratheon remained completely quiet, scarcely daring to breathe as he didn't want to interrupt his tiny companion. Kyorai seemed to be intently focusing on trying to harness the power in his stone. The ashen dog's chin fell forward, concealing his stone while his eyes closed and ears began to twitch. What was he up to? What had happened? Had he succeeded in gathering magic? And if he had what kind was it? The dragon could sense nothing happening in the atmosphere but here the dog got up and began to move. He paced away from the great beast at first but then made a turn and walked forward... and forward... and forward...
The dragon raised his head higher, eyes opening slightly wider in surprise as the dog kept walking and landed right on his scaly chest. Baratheon didn't move, nor did he mind the intrusion upon his personal space. He endured it all like a patient father as he watched the pup's tail wagging in tune to the beat of his heart. Perhaps that was his magic. He knew some gembounds that could sense the heartbeats in others with a simple spell. It seemed that the canine might possess this sort of magic.
After he completed his mission of hunting down his heartbeat the youngling lifted onto his hind paws with his forepaws balanced against him. A throaty chuckle reverberated from within Baratheon's long throat as he slowly lowered his head until his muzzle was pointed right above Kyorai's head, only inches away from touching it. "All of us living things have a 'beat'. It is our heart and the tune you hear is it thumping inside." He raised a claw, gently reaching it forward until it very very lightly touched the dog's own chest. "You have a beat there, too." He lowered his paw and claw back to the ground and raised his large head once more. "The element you possess appears to be the 'animal' element. My knowledge on it is limited but I do know a few of the things that it can do like letting you hear the heart beats of others in a room or changing your pelt color." He knew a few animal users in times gone by but he'd never seen an extensive use of the magic, not to mention it was far more subtle.
Expression seemed confused when told what was creating the beat he loudly heard. This thing called a heart founded in every being—he wondered of its purpose other than creating a rhythmic tune. The pup unconsciously winced when he saw their claw coming for him, breathing out once they lightly touched his chest. Such action had gain an understanding for his ticking organ as it burned within chest from the slight fear of what was to come. A thought circled around as to why he had not heard the heart inside him. Perhaps the dragon's drowned out what small sounds could be picked up from it. Kyo huffed and tilted head to side in a way that would surely be uncomfortable, trying to put ear closer to body, more so his chest. Try as he might, his keen hearing had begun to fade from the looks of company's beat becoming faint. Still... having one himself, he should be able to tune into it no matter the case.
Before the pup took another hit to the ground from his failed task in locating heart, forelimbs caught him, gazing back at Baratheon with heightened interest and hidden embarrassment. One brow rose when knowing his element now. Animal? It had not sound as amazing as energy did. "You know a lot of things, huh?" He sung out, lighting up when told that changing his pelt was a possibility. This dull and scrappy coat could be morphed into something greater looking? Paw extended out to allow him to view it better, paying his attention to the lightness of it. "I wouldn't think I could do much with self. Though it's not as amazing as what you can do!" He said with a gentle smile. Well, it was too soon to say how lacking his element was but he would certainly figure out its rather usefulness down the line.
Rubbing eyes before turning and sitting to have back toward company, head fully tilted upwards, back tracking through thoughts for this encounter. "Oh! What brings you here in this tunnel anyhow? Do you live here? It seems like a perfect place for you!" He questioned in a need to know, trying to think on what to do further more. Everyone seemed to have a place yet here he stood in a mile long tunnel with the objective in wandering. Looking forward once more, he gave a humored sigh in seeing how much he had left to cover.
Knew a lot of things? The dragon gave a knowing smile. "When you've been around for as long as I have you're bound to pick up a few things." There was some humor in his tone. Perhaps some would think of him as a supercilious gembound but if they would look at the twinkle in his pink eyes they would see that he was anything but haughty. A throaty rumble began in his throat as he considered what the pup said before shaking his head. "Of course it is. 'Amazing' is all a matter of perspective. What one doesn't consider as amazing another might have the opposite thoughts." He was one of those. While Kyorai's element might be more subtle it had many fantastic uses which he wouldn't mind on his own. Imagine being able to detect heart beats... That would make hunting ten times easier.
When Kyorai asked him a new question the dragon had to think for a moment. What had he initially been doing here? Nothing, truth be told. He was just wandering and exploring new hunting spots. He shook his head, "I live in Eridanus, a room full of trees and plants. It's a great hunting and flying spot but I just left there to explore a bit and see if there were other places that prey would be hiding." Since his main prey was cave deer he had to venture far and wide to find the herds. He wasn't particularly fond of the large tunnel but it would help lead him to a new room, Pisces, he thought because the ice and general dampness. He hadn't been there in what felt like lifetimes. "Would you like to accompany me, young one? I would not mind the company." And the pup could continue to ask all of the questions he wanted while they walked. It might help the seemingly restless pup.
If only he could do so, lips would push out when hearing about how one's thoughts could differ from another's. It was true, which is why he put out a tiny pout. Though he went back into a less displeased state once he found out where the dragon actually lived. Ears displayed his action of thinking, straightening up as he brought back a faded memory. "I've been there before! At least, I think so." He said, unsure in whether it was really the same room he was recalling than the one his company was telling. The one thing he did not have was the name of the places he has passed through and out. Sure, he could describe them but that was to say there were a dozen more just like it. Shaking his head, he returned his attention to their talking. "Hmm, hunting?" He did not know much about the task but mind knew well what it was for. To think, when was there a time in which he saw "prey"? Certainly not here. Now, there was not any proof to whether the sector a short bit away held anything but might as well point in the direction since they were scanning about here.
Paw went up to take another whack at his face before he got up to look at the dragon behind him. It was becoming slightly hard to see now, likely sight was beginning to give its leave after remaining cooperative for a good while. Shaking out coat, he continuously looked back and forth at the dragon and the opening not far from where he stood. "There's nothing here but ice and rocks though there's an exit a few ways ahead from what's left of the tunnel." Telling such, his curiosity grew more and more as he thought about the resulting room from this mile long passage. A journey it was for the pup but mind would be relieved once over.
A warm feeling overfilled the male when company gave an offer to come with. Gaze appeared delighted with tail moving at a fast pace. "Sure!" He barked, stretching a grin across his face. There did not stand a reason to think over the offer when one mostly had themselves for quite the time to the point of questioning their own doings. It was gradually becoming an aim at his mind but it did not seem a shot to it would be given anytime soon.
Had he? Well, it was a large place so it was quite possible that the pup had come and the dragon had never even noticed. Not to mention he'd just recently re-awakened, so there was not telling if they'd just been there at different times. Regardless, it didn't matter much now. "Indeed. When you're my size you have to be on the know of where all of the deer herds are." He didn't have to eat every day or even every few days but he liked to kepe tabs on the best hunting spots in case anything happened to the ones in Eridanus. The dragon had recently eaten after he'd broken out of his cocoon so if he tried to take anything now it would just be for sport.
He wondered... Did the canine know how to hunt? Or was he too young? He pondered this briefly before shaking his head and tensing his muscles in a slight stretch. Ah, he'd been laying down for a while, it was time to wake his muscles back up. So after his tensing the dragon rose slowly to his feet, carefully not to get the little one underpaw. He could hear the enthusiasm in the young one's tone and it made him smile. "Well, come along then. Perhaps there shall be something interesting in Pisces." With that he took his first step of many, eyes were forward but he made sure to glance down every once in a while to keep his eye on Kyorai.

Head nodded along as the dragon explained his reasoning for keeping up with prey. It made sense and likely something he would do himself once mind was far more into his instincts. Till then, he guessed self would follow behind company when it came to the task. Noticing movement from Baratheon, he stumbled back a little to allow them space without concern upon him. Heart sunk when he noted their full size once again, having forgotten how big they originally stood. Though thoughts relaxed in knowing they were not to issue any harm to him. Hopping over close to the dragon, a hum sounded from him when told they would wander over to Pisces. Last he remembered, there was not much within the room but the chance something has come up was greatly there. It would not be a problem for the small canine as he knew the way to return to here once wanting to sate his curiosity. "Okay!" He responded, moving onward. Until then, he would follow Baratheon, staying sure to pay attention to his steps since it was ears' time to shine and vision's time to rest.
