His leg was slowly healing, now he could stand to put his weight on it a little at a time. He did so now as he hopped along the long tunnel with wings giving aid every now and again when he needed it. By the time he made it to a particularly interesting spot in the tunnel he was a bit tuckered out with trying to use his leg but he felt accomplished all the same. Even an injury couldn't hold him back! He would continue forth for the sake of knowledge!

His wide, round eyes peered upwards as he stared at the Carvings overhead. All at first it appeared to be Greek to him, the strange curving symbols, the weird divets outlined into the surface... What was it all? He stared and stared and it all seemed to come together. These symbols represented actual real world things. What things they were he didn't know. Something at the center reminded him of a mushroom or perhaps an explosion and there seemed to be... creatures, going away from it. While he understood the symbols what did it all mean?

While he stared at the wall he found himself growing sleepy and though he tried to ignore it... His body shut down on him, forcing himself to get much needed sleep. Before long, he was snoring while standing up and facing the wall. One foot was raised, pointing at the Carvings while his head had fallen forward onto his feathery chest.

It was hard to notice him at first, as his scales blended into the cave's stones, but the mass of coils had begun to move when it felt the little thumps of avian hopping. The serpent's ember eyes flickered as they turned to peer at the new gembound, an owlet. Had he come to gaze the carvings as well?

Septiezal looked backed at the strange image. Took him, the carvings took the form of a giant mushroom, with creatures shooting out from all angles, their mouths gaped open in anguish, or perhaps they were gulping their first breaths. The odd gembounds he met in Tunnel O mentioned something about generations, survivors. He had never thought about those before him, but since learning of their existence, he hungered for more knowledge.

He had felt like he had only begun to scratch the surface of the cave's history. There were so many pieces to this puzzle, Septiezal did not know where to begin. His thoughts fell back on Mosi, the self-proclaimed star god, and for a moment, he wondered there was truth in his outlandish story. Septiezal shook his head. Of there wasn't, he had poured over the tunnel's ancient carvings and had yet to see one that resembled a "star god". Out of all the carvings in the tunnel however, this peculiar "mushroom" piece intrigued him the most, as it seemed to tell the t tale of an important event lost to time.

"Do you think this could tell the story of our origin?" Septiezal asked owlet, unaware that the young gembound had fallen asleep.

A very, very light snore was beginning to come from the owlet's tiny beak as he stood there in his inconspicuous position. The approach of the snake was gone completely unnoticed by him as he was sleeping too deeply for the slithering coils to disrupt his wayward slumber. It wasn't until the hissing voice of the snake made itself known that he snapped out of his sleep. His blue eyes flew open wide and he gave a little start as he turned his head sharply to look at the serpent that was now addressing him.

He didn't like to be caught out like this but he hardly heard what the reptile had said. He'd been so far into slumber that he could hardly recall what words were even spoken. "Pardon me?" For one that always tried to sound his best and look intelligent... that was not a good way to start. Quickly he tried to fix himself, straightening up from the slouch his impromptu nap had put him in and lowering his pointing talon back to the earth.

It was after these actions that he decided to take in the shape of this new creature, it was long without limbs. Never before had he seen this in one of the speaking creatures... It was too good an opportunity to pass up. "Excuse me, but I have yet to encounter a.... a Greater Gembound like yourself. Please, what is your species?" It might not have been the most polite thing to ask but he couldn't hold himself back. He needed to know.

Septiezal lurched his head back at the owlet's unexpected response. It seemed to him that he had not been paying attention. The serpent flicked his tongue curiously. He appeared to be one of those flying gembounds, but unlike the ones he had met, his face was very flat and his eyes were quite large for his head. Matter of fact, he could feel those big eyes scan over his coils. Frankly, it made Septiezal's scales crawl. He knew what was coming next, and it never failed to annoy him.

It was quite obvious to him that the owlet was intrigued about his lack of limbs. Septiezal had felt himself grow defensive. It was a force of habit. However, he did not expect the question to be delivered so... politely. "Snake." He replied flatly. "More specifically, a python."

He eyed the owlet harshly. Septiezal was waiting. The anticipation was rising and he braced himself for an onslaught of limbless related question.

If Tacitus noticed the snake's defensiveness in his flat tone then he didn't show any signs of it. Instead he simply nodded his head. Snake. He added it to his vocabulary for later. That word as well as "python". It seemed to fit for this particular gembound. Any sort of legless creature of the greater variety was likely to be a snake or perhaps some variation thereof. Fascinating. "Interesting... Thank-you. You have no limbs but have adaptions for getting around unimpaired, it seems... Fascinating." He took one hop closer, eyes inspecting the creature's body, looking over the coils and what he could tell were muscles beneath the form of the serpentine scales. He would very much like to get a good look at the inside but proper manners dictate that he not do that... Proper manners dictate that he give a name and initiation a conversation. As droll as they were he supposed they should follow them as someone of this proportion and age could prove useful. "I am Tacitus. What am I to call you?" He could question later, or perhaps simply observe and with sharp eyes catch exactly how the snake's body moved... Or perhaps he could find a dead one and dissect the muscles of its body. "You said something before, I am afraid that I did not catch it." He'd asked a question, two really, it was only fair that he returned the favor.
