Hidden among the heavy fog of Cetus, sat a chrysalis. Its teal hue stood out like a sore thumb amongst the more dull colors of the environment surrounding it. Inside this chrysalis rested a goat. His size was too great compared to the stone and he found himself mashed against the sides. The creature started to push against the chrysalis with his body, each moment that past making his movements increase. As extra power, the kid begun to crash against the tiny space with his hooves. Satisfying cracks begun to form before finally the chrysalis submitted to the goat''s will to escape and shattered completely.
Out rolled a victorious little goat. His rolling soon came to a hault and he rested with his forelegs tucked under belly. He blinked a few times and started to shiver. There he lay for a moment, studying his surroundings. There wasn't much to see, due to the heavy cover of fog. All that was visible was the dirt before him and the shadows of trees.

It'd seemed like such a good idea at the time. In all the 13 cycles of her life, Kin-Kin had never set foot in the boggy mess that was Cetus, and for one good reason; the mud would simply ruin her looks. Her golden fur would never be the same if so much as a speck of filth happened to taint it. So, every step deeper into this bog carried all the more weight. As her paws squelched with each step into the marshy earth, Kin-Kin knew that there was no-going back now.
The reason she'd come here had been to prove that she could overcome anything. With magic, brains or brawn, the wolf firmly believed that nothing could stand in her way, not anymore at least.
Soon, the marsh sank deeper beneath her paws and the wolf was reluctant to go on. Looking back revealed that the tracks she'd left in the earth had filled with boggy, murky water. The mist was thick, and looking back the she-wolf could no longer see the entrance to the cavern. Before her the marsh stretched on into nothingness. Kin-Kin knew she ought to turn back, but from somewhere within that gloom, a crack echoed forth. Her glow failed to reach out far enough to see what awaited her, but nontheless her ears perked straight upright.
She knew that sound. How could she not?
Kin-Kin sighed, shaking her head slightly. Of course! as of late, it always seemed to have fallen to her shoulders to welcome new blood into the caves. At this point it seemed like treason not to follow the sound to its source. Besides, she could provide a far better welcome into the world than the bog's cold and clammy hands. Lifting her muzzle to the air, Kin-Kin's nostrils twitched slightly as she tried to pinpoint where, exactly, the sound had come from.
Kin-Kin was still at loathe to set foot in the bog. But she knew one thing; she could do anything, and she knew just the spell to give the kid a show they'd remember for the rest of their life. Closing her eyes, Kin-Kin poured her magic into the muddy earth beneath her paws.
A groan echoed forth from the ground, creaks like straining glass as it reformed. Crystal erupted from the ground at her paws, tendrils interlocking like sparkling tree roots. Like a river, the tendrils wound together, and disappeared into the mist. A smirk touching at the side of her lips, Kin-Kin stepped onto the crystal with one testing paw, and then the next, padding onto the path she'd made and following it, into the mist. Trees loomed thicker all around, and as she moved, Kin-Kin was able to make out a shape, clearer and clearer, as she drew nearer.
"Hey, kid! You doing alright, there?" she called, her voice feeling obnoxiously loud in the dark.

The kid remained planted on the ground, dumbfounded. The energy used to escape the crysalis had now faded and there was no new goal in mind. There had to be something else to accomplish!
Some voice ingraved in his mind ordered him to move more. Get a better view of what surrounded him. So he extended his neck further, rotating it in all directions. At the same time, his hind legs buzzed with a sudden energy. Cautiously, he began his quest to stand, lifting his legs slightly before plopping back to the ground and repeating the process again and again.
It wasn't long before he realized he wasn't the only one in this new territory. There first came sounds, which was enough to cut his little mission short. Small bleats rolled from his tongue as the sounds grew louder. Then came the source,a stranger whom appeared older, and with them a magnificent path of crystals.
The boy's crys had been hushed by the awe that struck him. In the short time he had been here, this had to be the most greatest thing he'd ever seen.
The silence broke once the stranger spoke. It had taken him aback and he looked left and right searching for an answer. Finally he nodded, adding a timid "Y-yes." He took time to examime the wolf before him. Her gem as well as the blue cloak stood out against golden fur. There was size difference between them, with him being the younger ground after all. It seemed intimidating , thpugh he didnt fear that so much. The stranger didn't seem keen on harming him
The boy decided to continue with his mission, assuming that it would be much better to stand. He pulled his forelegs from underneath himself before using all his strength to pull himself up.

The golden glow that surrounded her soon revealed something in the dark, the crystalline path of interwoven tendrils taking root in solid ground. The kid was lucky their chrysalis hadn't formed in the depths of the bog, and Kin-Kin couldn't help but wonder how many gemlings had met their unfortunate ends in the dark, muddy waters here. A soft shudder passed over the gilded maiden for a moment, before she returned her gaze to the little one. A smirk touched the sides of her muzzle as she caught the look on their face. Kin-Kin paused to wonder why it'd taken so long to come here; this had to be her grandest entrance yet!
Her glow brightened slightly at the prospect and her tail twitched, shifting the cloak across her back. The blue crystal against her foreleg clinked as she took a final step towards them, her ears perked and wet nose twitching as she gave them a little sniff. Their voice reached out to greet her, and she grunted an acknowledgement at the small word. "Heh. That's good to hear," the she-wolf said, with a slight tilt of her head.
She watched curiously. Kin-Kin wondered if she ought to help on the little one's endeavor as she watched them stand, but before she could consider it further, they were up. "...huh. Good job, kid."
Without their voices to fill it, the cold and the mist bit into her sensitive ears like daggers, the ambiance eerie, but nothing malicious dared penetrate her bright light. These days, she was a guiding light in the dark, a beacon of hope for the young who emerged in the blackness. Kin-Kin shook some damp from her fur, several golden strands escaping into the dark.
"So, you got a name, kiddo?"
