Desire brings a yellow stone to Alnilam, then leaves and returns to receive her wings and gain the golden one's approval. The flying beings fuse together. Desire stays to listen to the glowing one, but is frightened off by Dragon and Dezba's argument and leaves to find the "stag."

Desire encounters a strange, sweet-smelling flower that combusts at the touch of her magic. She is mentally bound to Dragon, who initially annoys her, but on reuniting the flowers the bond is severed. The two talk and she feels better about him, and he informs her of his suspicions regarding the cave's "custodians."

Desire is appreciative of Dragon's warnings, and while she is not simply convinced of the guardians' untrustworthiness, she believes herself to be less gullible. She is ultimately glad to have met Dragon.
