Child Name: Lyra
Gender: Genderless, feminine pronouns
Species: Monocled cobra/Red wolf/Peacock hybrid
Appearance: A lovely, but strange looking creature, this hybrid is covered with soft white scales over most of its body. Along its back is a long mane of thick white fur and feathers with a slight pink tinge. Eventually, the feathers get larger and the fur smaller until it transitions into a beautiful, long, luscious peacock tail. It's head and belly are covered with softer fur then that of its back. It has a wolf-like face with a small area of beak-like skin and its body is long and serpentine. It has short, pink bird legs with small, sharp claws at the end of each toe. It also has a back talon, much like a bird, but the rest of its paw remains canine. It's eyes are an icy white color.
Element: Arcane
Stone: Queen conch pearl

Child Name: ?
Gender: ?
Species: Monocled cobra/Red Wolf/Peacock hybrid
Appearance: This creature mostly resembles that of a cobra with a variety of mutations. Like its sibling, it has a long mane of thick pink-tinged white fur and feathers going down its back that eventually covers its tail and becomes a peacock's tail. It's body is covered with small soft hairs that disappear on its stomach and neck, where there is soft, scale-like skin. It's face has canine-like features, but remains mostly serpentine, although it does have wolf ears. It has lovely pink and white feathered wings that around its shoulders that are partially attached to its cobra hood. It's eyes are a deep fuchsia

Name: Levaeah
Stone location: Right ear
Gender: Female
Personality: Levaeah can be described rather easily with one word: Pacifist. She doesn't want to fight, or to quarrel. She will do anything to rid Gembounds of argument, to the point of stepping between fighting Gembounds to get them to stop. There isn't a mean bone in her body, and no matter how hard they try, it is impossible to goad her into a fight. Even if someone were to attack a Gembound or Gemling under her care, she would simply wrap herself around her Gembound and take the blows in their place. Although it may seem so, she isn't much of a pushover. While she won't fight, or argue, she has a way of speaking that is very soothing and calming, which helps to put others at ease.
Writing Sample (with the character):

"What is going on?"

The fox and the lynx came to a sudden, abrupt stop. They dug in their paws, skidding to a stop and looking around to see who dared interrupt their fight. The lynx's ear was bleeding, torn at the corner, while the fox had several scratch marks over her muzzle from the lynx's sharp claws.

"Whatsit to you?" the fox snarled, looking up to see an odd creature approaching them. It slithered more than walked, but didn't look wholly like a snake. After all, a snake had neither feathers, nor wings. Its feathers were an odd pink color, and its scales were white. It had the hood of a cobra, but the wings of a bird. What was it?

The snake-bird-thing came to a stop, rising to her full height. She leveled them with a disapproving glare, which had the effect of a well-loved school teacher scolding her students. Shame began to roll low in the quarreling Gembounds' stomachs, and they dropped their gazes to the floor.

"And what," she hissed, not unkindly, "is so important as to cause you both to resort to such barbarianism?"

Like naughty school children caught in the act, the two shared a Look, mentally begging the other to speak. Finally, after seeing the increasing intensity of her stare, despite the kindly smile on her face, the fox finally spoke up. "W-well, she tried to steal my kill ma'am." She gestured to a dead Windhopper sprawled on the dirt a few paces away.

"And has it occurred to you two," the snake-bird-wolf hissed, slithering forward to look at the Windhopper's bloody corpse, "That there are more than just this Windhopper in these caves? I saw five just coming down this Tunnel."

"But, I was hungry!" the Lynx whined, before shutting up at the glare given by the hybrid.

"Fox, come here." said she. The fox did, wondering what the snake wanted. The hybrid took the head of the Windhopper in her mouth, saying around the corpse, "Bi' i' 'igh' he'," her tail whipped around to gesture to a spot on the Windhopper's midsection. The fox stepped forward, jaws acting as a guillotine. The bottom half of the rabbit dropped to the floor, oozing blood.

"This half is for you," Levaeah said after she dropped the upper torso, nudging it at the lynx. The lynx plodded forward, and picked it up, content with her share.

"Hey! Whyz hers bigger?!" the fox snapped, seeing that her half of the rabbit was rather shorter. The hybrid gestured at it, before saying,

"Yes, but it has more meat on it. The Lynx got the head, which makes it longer, and it has very little meat on its head."

And so the fox and lynx, content with their shares, went their seperate ways.

What do you have in mind to do with this character? (optional, I'm just curious): I'm hoping to make her into a sort of peacekeeper in the Caves. Someone who fighting or arguing Gembounds will come to to help them put an end to it.

Name: Kale
Stone location: Middle of back
Gender: Male
Personality: A rather kind and timid and shy creature, Kale is one to avoid conflict, if he can. However, if he has to fighy, he will. He is like Kielo in the sense that he falls in love easily, developing a crush on anyone he meets, unless they a pure evil. He can see the good in almost anyone, and he tries his best to bring that part of him out. However, he deals with the feelibg that he isnt't enough. That he is easily disposable.
Writing Sample (with the character):
Kale looked up at the wolf. The larger creature snarled, baring its sharp teeth and snapping. But Kale saw the moment of hesitation. He saw the moment of weakness.

"You don't have to do this. I can help you." Kale whispered, his eyes soft. The wolf continued to snarl, her reply low.

"You lie. I cannot be fixed." She rasped, snapping again. Kale shook his head, slitheribg foward slowly, and wrapping himself around the paw of the wolf gently. He didnt mind the danger, he knew he was safe.

"I don't think you can be fixed. But I know you can be changed." Kale replied softly, his eyes closed. The constant snarls and growls faded, the wolf lowering her lips to cover her teeth. Her eyes shone, wet with tears. No one had shown her kindness.

Kale let himself smile. He had done something right.

What do you have in mind to do with this character? (optional, I'm just curious): Something along the lines of the above writing example. He meets someone rather cruel, but sees their soft side and tries to help them become good.

Note, short phone post. I plan on fleshing this out more later.

Name: Vesna
Stone location: tip of nose, above nostrils
Gender: n/a, they/them or it/its pronouns
Personality: as a base at birth, very playful, but highly emotional. shy around strangers. plays rough, but isn't malicious--just somehow seems to be unaware how easy it is to crush others under their tail. it's a good thing they are taught not to use their jaws on their play-buddies, for the snake teeth inside of them.

prone to temper-tantrums, but warm and loving, eager to make their loved ones feel good and happy. very passionate about everything, for better or for worse. similar to kielo, they fall in love easily, but are a lot more stubborn about it, and it isn't quite to the extent that kielo does. vesna seems to get quickly carried away and feels slighted easily, but quickly learn to control their emotions as they get older--however, the feelings always remain. the smallest, most irrational thing can set vesna off, and while as a child this results in tantrums and crying, as an adult it generally results in vesna leaving situations to calm down frequently. this can cause a rift in their relationships, as vesna could end up seeming unwilling to share their true emotions with those who are supposed to be close to them, and their tendency to easily get set off will cause difficulty in keeping a healthy intimate relationship. not because they will tend to be abusive, but any possible partner or even close friend may find them a little unreachable sometimes.

unfortunately, all of that leaves vesna rather vulnerable to any unfortunate circumstances that may befall them as they do most creatures in the caves at some point. vesna is vulnerable to being consumed by anger and feeling victimized if tragedy befalls them, and although they will always put the wellbeing of others before their own feelings (i.e. not just become abusive), vesna has the potential to become a vindictive individual who will need a good deal of time and support to learn to manage their feelings again.

all in all, vesna tries very hard. as a child they are quite the crybaby, always trying to play the leader, always acting entitled when they don't get their way, but properly playful as a child should be. as they get older, they will quickly learn to manage their feelings to an extent, as those around them are not happy to put up with their bad behavior. they are highly emotional--loving with all their heart but with a similarly powerful capacity for anger and resentment. they are aware of this, as an adult, and how they seem to have a hard time controlling themself, and hate it. they feel stuck between wanting to make their family proud and the inescapable feeling of entitlement they feel in the back of their mind when the slightest thing does not go their way. it's not the best for their self-esteem, but it makes them very, very devoted to being the best, kindest and most helpful individual they can be, to prove to themself or to others that they aren't just an awful, entitled crybaby in an adult's body.
Writing Sample (with the character):

the little hybrid's tail flicked back and forth as it wiggled across the stone floor, its downy, pale pink fur still thin along its back. it was like a living lion's tail, except for those wings folded along its back. they were still flightless as of yet, but vesna hoped one day they would be able to cut through the air like a bird with them. they imagined themself wiggling through the air the same they did on the ground, but... lifted. up there. that was how it worked, right?

"i can't wait 'till i can fly," the gemling spoke aloud, waiting for their sibling to prompt more ideas on just how it'd be like when vesna could fly.

"do you think you'll be able to? snakes are awfully heavy..." lyra replied, looking down at them. she hadn't meant any harm, but vesna bristled anyway.

"of course i will, idiot! why would you say something like that?" the snake-hybrid cried out, sounding indignant. one of their parents was quick to speak out.

"be kind, children! don't call your sibling such rude names, vesna!" vesna shrunk their head down at the scolding. "i just wanna fly, too. sorry, lyra." they sounded apologetic, but clearly dejected, too young to know how to mask their emotions. "can you fly, bava?" looking up at its parent, vesna suddenly realized they had never actually seen kielo fly. was it really that important if their cool parent got along so well without it? well... yeah, actually. flying would be pretty cool. vesna thought about all the exploring it could do if it could get to those high places like birds could!

kielo's nickname--'baba'--had come from the children's babblings, but was often distorted by vesna's occasional difficulty pronouncing 'b's. their mouth was simply so flat and so prone to slide out all those harsh consonants!

(if you'd like a sample post from adulthood i can write one of those as well at any point but i just did a childhood one since that's the most certain of how they'll end up in character yknow)

What do you have in mind to do with this character? (optional, I'm just curious): i have never had a hybrid character, so i'd like to have a lot of social interactions with this prospective "vesna". i'm not really planning specifically to hurt them enough to trigger their unhealthy lack-of coping mechanisms, just wanting to see how things go. i would love if they'd find a good way to manage their emotions and have the support they needed to learn to do so, as well as meet older gembounds who may understand their struggles to manage their emotions. most interactions with vesna would be pretty intense to write as is, so i'm pretty open, but as i said i'm not really actively seeking to break and traumatize them as much as i am down to rp most things that would happen in the caves.

certainly, they would feel like an outcast to their family for struggling so much to keep their cool, and even a failure if they were away from that extremely-supportive environment for long. i don't plan on them stirring up unnecessary drama or anything, but some "im different a failure dont fit in also im a teen :(" when they were 2-3 cycles old (prob 3?) sorta stuff i wouldn't be opposed to. i'm not really planning on having them mistreat their family or Be Evil Or Vicious or anything tho (unless when they are older and towards someone who is like, actively harmful, yknow).

vesna, assuming they have a pretty normal childhood (considering their weird hybrid-ness i mean lol, just like... without anything that would really traumatize a child) does end up becoming someone who seeks out people and causes to help, but more often the latter than a sort of healer who walks about looking for others to help. they are incredibly passionate, and any cause that they believe is for the good of all gembounds/that allows them to help gembounds while also advocating for a cause they believe in they will gravitate towards instantly.

good fit for random quest threads as well as any "good-doing" group with an agenda, and also good for telling a story about conquering yourself, learning to cope with things that are inherently different about you in good and bad ways, when you don't know why you are that way, and accepting the love and aid of those who can love, support and help you even when you feel like you don't deserve it.

writing haru is great practice for me so feel free to correct me if my jpn grammar or phrasing is off, i'm still learning.

@Sebastian @Blueberry @Haruo
Thank you all for applying! The applications were all great and very true to what we vision the family to be like. We're going to give the character to Vesna because of the difference in character that will both set them apart and keep them in line with Winter and Kielo's parenting. XD

Thanks again for applying!

For wulf - if you can, please register the character on May 6th or around that date. You can write out everything beforehand, I'd just like for the two to be the same age.
