Aegir wondered the same thing as Khes. Why they did not see similar things in the water, why Khes could see tiny lives and he could see voices and prophecy. Well, Aegir knew how he could see the voices, of course, but he didn't have nearly the correct vocabulry to express this knowledge. Nor did he have the proper knowledge at all to explain how he could. It was all very confusing for the young child and he turned towards the river, reaching out with a claw and dipping it in. He watched as the water flowed past in a pattern and decided to try and at least explain this.

"Aegir sees...patterns in water. Correct patterns. Patterns meant to be in water. Water makes patterns. By throwing rock or water, Aegir asks question. Water speaks answer with patterns. This is what Aegir sees in water. Aegir's other friend could not see patterns either. Khes sees tiny things, tiny lives. Perhaps the life of water. Perhaps water is many tiny lives. Or perhaps many tiny lives are within the water. Aegir does not know. Can Khes speak to tiny lives?"

How strange. They could both see things in water, but different things. Aegir could talk to the water, in a way. But could Khes speak to the little lives? She didn't think that they would understand her.

Maybe she didn't have to directly speak to them for something to happen. Maybe, like the bear, she didn't have to say words aloud. She might not even have to think them.

Directing her thoughts to Aegir, she tried again to direct all those little lives to do something good. She wasn't sure what she was doing, and perhaps it wasn't the best idea to test magic on another Gembound, but her intentions were far from harm.

This time, it seemed to work. She felt something in her. Yes, she had done something. But what? She couldn't see any changes.

"Did work?" she asked, though Aegir may not know that she'd done anything. "Tried to speak." she added, though the little snake had not said anything at all. Thoughts, it was all thoughts in her head.

Aegir felt something tickling at his fur and then a warmth pass through his body. He felt energy he didn't know he had lost returning to his muscles and he sighed contently at the feeling. Were these the tiny lives that Khes had told him about? He stood up and looked at Khes, tilting his head. "Aegir felt something. Warm. Strong. Did not hear voice, but good feeling. Are tiny lives in Aegir now?"

He didn't feel as if there were a bunch of tiny lives within him, but, then again, he did not know what that meant or what it would feel like if he did. But something had happened and he looked at Khes curiously. "What did Khes do?"

Khes nodded, a movement that moved half of her body. "Yes! Tiny lives in Aegir," she added, confirming his thoughts.

"I talk to small life," she said, trying to explain the best she could-- she didn't know that his was her magic. "I tell lives to be good to Aegir," she finished, not sure how to explain what she had done. She had just wanted the little life to do something good, and the lifeforms had responded. They did as she had asked. Though it had taken two tries for them to listen.

Aegir considered this for a moment. There were tiny lives within him now? It was strange to think about, if he considered himself a big life. Was it like tiny streams attached to a larger stream? Or a small bubble attached to a bigger one? He tried to focus on these tiny lives to perhaps communicate with them as well, but he found it difficult. For a moment, he went silent and closed his eyes, focusing inwards. For a moment, it was just his breathing, but then it was his heartbeat. He cold hear and feel those and got lost in them for a moment.

But there was no tiny lives that he could sense. Then again, he did not know what tiny lives felt like or sounded like. He blinked open his eyes, wanting to inquire further on how to communicate to them. "Can Khes teach Aegir to speak to tiny lives? Aegir wants to see the tiny lives in water." Because perhaps that was what water was, just tiny lives. Perhaps he could speak to it more directly, more upfront and get better answers in turn.
