Since there's so many new people joining the caves, I thought that it would be fun to have another group with characters representing something - similar to the seven sins, but a little different. I had this idea and it kind of flowered in my head and I'm excited to see if anyone is interested!

The Five Rivers of the Underworld are, well, five rivers that are in the underworld from Greek mythology. They are as follows:
  • Styx - Also known as the River of Hatred, Styx is the most well known of the five - early Greek mythology had the deities swearing oaths upon the river and Achilles gaining his supposed invulnerability by being dipped into the river. It's where the wrathful spirits are punished by being drowned in the waters, to fight for eternity.
  • Lethe - Also known as the River of Forgetfullness, Lethe was the river in which spirits were required to drink from in order to forget their past life.
  • Acheron - Also known as the River of Woe or the River of Pain, Acheron was the river in which Charon used to row the dead into the underworld. While the name is pretty foreboding, it's described as a place of healing, purging the sins of humanity.
  • Phlegethon - Also known as the River of Fire, this is a river of fire, or perhaps leading into the fiery depths of Hell, where the most sinister of souls live. Those that have committed crimes upon their fellow men (murder and the like) are punished in its flames. It also leads to Tartarus, where the dead are judged and the Titan's prison is located.
  • Cocytus - Also known as the River of Wailing, this is where the souls that Charon refused to ferry wander for eternity. These are usually people that never received a proper burial.

So I was thinking that there'd be a group (maybe not an official group but a collection of gembounds at least) that each represent these five rivers. Despite being related to death, they wouldn't be inherently evil. Instead, I think it would be cool if they were more like vigilantes or just protectors in their own way. Or whatever we decide, if it happens.

While the rivers themselves don't give much for personality, it'd be cool to have the characters somehow wrapped around the basic idea of each river. For example, Phlegethon could be a righteous angel kind of character who wields holy flames. Or maybe a grouch who doesn't much like others and who's first instinct is to 'set it on fire'. Cocytus could feel like they're an outcast in their own family and fights for attention and acceptance. And Lethe could be a super lazy, tired, and forgetful character with a small attention span. Something fun like that.

If you're interested, let me know if you have an idea for any characters or if there's a character you'd like to claim! (if you are going to claim, please make sure that you're certain you have a good idea first)

Styx - Blackbird
Cocytus - Cicada
Phlegethon -
Lethe - me
Acheron - Aurora

I have an idea for Styx:
A defender, someone who fights to protect others. Views one's word as law, and holds others to their oaths. He enjoys training others, helping them overcome their weaknesses.
